My Corolla Cross Hybrid is my first Toyota after driving nothing but Hondas CR-V's for 20 years. When I was cross shopping the 2025 Corolla Cross and CR-V, I was surprised the base model CC doesn't have push button start. In this day and age I was surprised you still have to stick a key into the ignition and turn it to start the car. Also, the mid-level CC model (SE/LE) doesn't have a power driver's seat, but the mid-level Honda (EX) does. Does anyone feel like Toyota gives you less standard features at a given price point or trim level when compared with competitors? Don't get me wrong, I love my new Corolla Cross Hybrid SE.

I have a BlackVue DR590X dashcam that I removed from my old Honda CR-V before trading it in. I was dreading having to run 2 wires from the dashcam to the fusebox (like I did in my old Honda) or having an unsightly power cable going to the 12 volt port in the center console.

Then I found out about this FitDVR device that lets you power the dashcam from the electronics behind the rearview mirror. The entire device fits inside that plastic cover behind the mirror so there are no exposed dangling wires.

The only pain in the neck was routing the rear camera wire from the front dashcam to the back window. I took the time and extra effort to run the wire through the rubber wiring conduit between the hatch and the cargo area. I didn't want a loose wire dangling between the rear hatch and the cargo area headliner. It wasn't too hard. I only had to drop the headliner a little bit around the rubber boot.

I found a old Radio Shack multimeter in my garage. This thing must be like around 25 years old. And it still works! I'm afraid to open it and inspect the decades old AA battery that's in there.

I just purchased a Toyota Gold Certified 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid SE with only 5k miles. It has the JBL premium sound system package and the moonroof package, along with the 2 tone paint upgrade. The color is Barcelona Red with black roof. I think the new Soul Red Crystal color is nicer, but that would have meant ordering a new car, paying about $6k more, and waiting. The dealer has no new Corolla Cross Hybrids in stock and isn't expecting another shipment until late October. Even then, they are only getting one S and one XSE. He checked and there are only 11 in stock within 100 miles across all trim levels. I really wanted an SE because I want blind spot monitoring but don't want to pay for the extra XSE features I don't need. This was the only used Corolla Cross Hybrid in stock.

This is my first Toyota since owning a Celica in the mid 90's. I've driven nothing but Honda CR-Vs for over 20 years. This is my first hybrid too. Any tips or advice about driving a hybrid?

A few weeks ago I posted a photo of a Radio Shack in Whitney Point, NY that I drove past. A couple folks here from the area commented it had closed and the sign was just never taken down.

Well I had the opportunity to drive by again and this time I went inside. I even chatted with the store owner a bit. It's definitely still an operating Radio Shack, as you can see from these photos. I even got emotional when I saw the drawers of electronic components. :-)

I was driving through Whitney Point, NY and spotted a Radio Shack store next to a McDonald's. I haven't seen a Radio Shack store in over 10 years so I had to pull over and take a closer look. Besides electronics, they apparently sell live bait!

If dark matter and dark energy make up 95% of the universe, I assume it's everywhere. But is it evenly distributed everywhere? I mean, is there any here on Earth or in our solar system? Or is dark matter and energy hard to study because there's none here? If dark matter only exists far away, then what explains that? Why is there none near us?

These are the random questions in my head when I have insomnia and can't fall asleep.
