Getting sick of Royal Caribbean flaunting their annoying dog

I love cruising. One of the biggest benefits is that they are dog free (usually, anyway).

Well I’ve been seeing reel after reel after reel of their annoying dog ambassador ’Skipper’, that appears to be a permanent installation on the Legend of the Seas. Of course, all the dog nutters are fawning over the thing. One of the reels even had this mutt trying to approach passengers. Absolutely NOT. Get your annoying dog away from me. Not everyone likes dogs. Also, I don’t think it’s appropriate to exploit ANY animal for profit like that.

Let’s not forget all the annoying comments on the reels from the nutters ‘Ohhh I would love to bring my stinky Goblin on a cruuuuuuise’.

Well, now I’ll be writing off Royal Caribbean from my list of cruise lines. 👎

We really can’t have anything be truly dog free, can we?

Thank you Danby, for your 21 years of service. May your heir follow in your footsteps.

Well, it was time. This old Danby on the left was made in 2005 and was originally purchased by my father in law (passed 2025). When we got married and moved into our first house, he gave us the microwave to help us out, as we were just starting out at the time (2010). She has been with us ever since, 16 years later. And it’s not for failure of her magnetron, no. Her inside shell was beginning to develop rust on the inside seams (moisture) from 21 years of regular use. (Protip: air out your microwave for a few minutes after cooking) She’s made us countless leftover meals. Infinite clock resets after power outages. Numerous Magic Bag nukes for our friend with chronic AS. And so, so many Buldak noodles and leftover pasta and chili. You were good to us girl. If your Danby successor can give us even half of your life span, we will be grateful.

To Valhalla. May you feast in preparation for Magnavox.

HNNNNNMMMMMMM in the chat to pay respects. They really don’t make them like this anymore. 🫡

Can I ask your opinion? Hulled sunflower seeds or hulled sunflower chips?

Hello fellow birders! I've been enjoying feeding my birds hulled sunflower seeds, and they attract pretty much every bird that will eat seeds, and I love the lack of mess (mostly lack of mess lol).

I have noticed that I do get a lot of seeds dropping to the ground. I believe it's accidental as I've watched what's been happening. Some of the smaller birds (goldfinches, chipping sparrows, etc), will attempt to grab a seed in their beaks, and sometimes the seed accidentally drops down to the ground, or, they will 'chew' the seed with their beak to break it into smaller bits, and those extra bits also fall to the ground.

Do you think switching to straight sunflower chips might help with this? I figure if the pieces are smaller, there should be less accidents dropping the food while eating. Also I'm a softie and would love to make it easier for my borbs to chow down.

Thoughts? For those of you who switched to chips, do you find less of a mess/waste?

(I ask because it does cost a little more for the hulled sunflower chips vs the hulled sunflower seeds, and I'm just wondering if it's worth it just to avoid the waste alone)

Amazon drivers of Ontario

It's hot as hades out here. I have a few packages coming today and tomorrow. I work from home and often meet the Amazon drivers at the door. Would you accept a bottle of water/glass of ice water if the householder offered it to you? Or freezies? A cold wet handtowel from the fridge? (I always love that for myself when I come in from the heat). I used to work in the trades and the heat was always a nightmare.

I do know I have a lot of South Asian drivers so I want to make sure it would be culturally appropriate (I don't personally know a lot of South Asians or I would ask). I'm a woman. I also don't want to get anyone in trouble.

I'm thinking, worst case scenario, a cooler with ice in it outside the door with a few water bottles would work.

Thanks for any advice! I really respect you guys out there.

EDIT: Thank you everyone, I loved reading all your comments. I settled on a cooler with water and pop inside with a little note on top of the cooler (some ice inside of course). I'll check later and see if they did partake! I also decided against freezies simply because the drivers sometimes deliver to multiple houses on the street and I know they are in a hurry and may not be able to sit for a few minutes eating it if they are on a schedule; drinks were a better choice!
