Mildly interesting story about my experience with this awesome game.

So I played through half the story on a series s but the game was constantly crashing, like every hour or 2, which made my playstyle become very tedious (constantly backtracking to save points because I was scared of crash). I know there are workarounds like closing out to the menu after an hour or whatever and I did finish half the game.

Also yes I aware that there are numerous posts about the games performance on series s but I didnt happen to run across any of those posts before I purchased the game. And yes I know the series s is a budget console and its impressive the game runs at all on it. Im very happy with my series s and I understand its limits. My console is very clean as well and properly ventilated. The game just has a crashing issue on this particular console.

Well fast forward and I have a ps5 now and I have been loving cybperunk (played a bit on series s first as well but it suffered from some pretty serious graphical bugs like flickering mainly that broke my immersion) well ive been able to pick right back up where I left off thanks to cross progression and none of those bugs are present on ps5 and I wish I could do the same for Allen wake 2 because its a fantastic game.

Anyway, 1 day after some more time passes ill just reply the bits I played before and enjoy the updated visuals and performance but I cant stop thinking about the game! Im just not ready yet to go through all the parts I played again lol. I dont think remedy will add cross progression and thats not really the point of this post just wanted to share my little story lol and i guess maybe thank CD project red for including that feature.

Ima be honest here, for a few reasons, I prefer liberty city. Let me explain as best as I can. I think gta 4 just had more style and thats my biggest complaint. Gta 6 its looking like its going to have tons of style and hella atmosphere. A whole vibe one might say. Now I get LA is often depicted and just can generally be kind of dingy, have lots of smog, ect. And sure rockstar captured LA really well. But there in lies the problem. As they approached a more realistic art style they left out all the style they had baked into liberty city. Complain all you want about the color pallete of gta 4 but I actually love it because that color pallete is style. Liberty city just draws you in, you instantly feel like you understand the themes of the game and the tone based on the world you are in. Los Santos just feels so bland. Gta 6 is going to be full of neon lights and signs and all the other things that made vice city stand out. Los Santos feels like one of those old school mats you used to have as a kid with a city on it. Overall pretty generic imo underwhelming. Im happy to see everyone opinions im sure most people disagree with me and I wish I could articulate my thoughts better but I hope people in the comments try and explain why they like this city because I just cant dig it

I never played ac mirage, and never will tbh because the setting just doesn't interest me. Even though they said they were returning to their roots with that game. However I have played a little of origins, Oddysey, Valhalla, and shadows and like clockwork I bounced off those games about 20-30 hours in and (i maybe played 60 hours of origins) they are just too big, and the story was too boring. But oh my god im playing unity for the first time and plan on playing syndicate after and damn, just damn

Let me tell you, This is why ubisoft ever gained any respect with players in the first place before they went and completely lost it. The world feels big and is densely populated and incredibly detailed. The new games look good sure but they feel so artificial. Paris is full of life and you can tell every inch of the game had so much care and attention put in. The new rpg like games just clearly have way more areas that feel samey, or uninteresting and its so obvious that the love they used to put into their games is not there. Say what you want about follow and easdropping missions , but I much prefer this old combat at least. And blending in with crowds is such a cool feature I can't believe they took it away. I guess it would be impossible to fill their new worlds with this many npcs.

Like seriously Its actually incredible walking through these busy streets, or coming across a huge protest or a massive riot with a giant crowd. Im blown away. Again I might have heard mirage brought back some of these features but ubisoft has ruined its good will with me anyway and its only through stockholm syndrome that I even gave any of the rpg games a chance but I cant believe how immersive unity is. Low-key its like nothing ive seen in an open world game when it comes to npc density and world detail.

I know I'm glazing here a bit and unity was full of bugs I heard when it realeased. Also im pretty sure this is a fps enhanced and slightly remastered (not remade) version of the game and i am playing on next generation console too soo just keep that in mind. The story very well might also turn out to be not that great but just opening up the map of Paris and seeing it all fits in my screen I let out a visible sigh of relief. I get that to so many gamers these days its all about value and hours you can put in the game versus how much you pay for it but games like pragmata prove that sometimes less can indeed be more and ac unity is a prime example of when developers used to add substance to their games without bloat. All the new games just lose the atmosphere that this game has. Ac shadows came pretty close to nailing the vibes sure, but that game had a laundry list of problems (story, bloat, ect.) That anyone with half a brain would just play ghosts of tsushima instead.
