Karl Ravech will not be missed
He is fine. But that all he is. He is fine as a play-by-play guy. But no one gets excited when they hear Ravech is on the call, unlike Boog Sciambi, Dan Shulman, or even Joe Davis.

My son (11th grade) plays football. Baseball is his main sport. How often should he hit during the Fall to stay sharp? What about outfield work? Any ideas? TIA.
My son is a junior in High School in Texas. He wants to attend an HBCU on the east coast. He heard about and is now interested in VSU. Any thoughts?
When Roy and Keeley open a bottle of champagne, Roy says: “…we didn’t open it when England got zero points in something called the Eurovision…”. How/why was that a good thing?
Do players still wear their batting glove under their fielding glove? When did players start wearing their fielding glove 70% on their hand?
I found myself only watching the alternate broadcast. And I don’t know why. I think Kyle Peterson is the best color analyst in any sport. I love Chris Burke’s style, analytics, and insight. (Not a huge Karl Ravech fan but I don’t dislike him either.)
I started watching the alternate broadcast and I couldn’t turn it off. It was like Monaco, Ben M., Rooney, and Jack were in my living room. I loved this format.
If they did, then OKC would look like this:
1 Alabama 8 Mississippi State
4 Arkansas 5 Tennessee
3 Nebraska 6 UCLA
7 Texas Tech 2 Texas
The UH job should be the 5th or 6th best job in Texas. Elite recruiting area, very good baseball conference, in the South, and decent facilities.
The only Texas jobs that are clearly better/bigger are Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, and Texas Tech.
Baylor, Texas State, and Rice are debatable.
This seems to be more of a college and high school thing but why do baseball players do it? Is it just for looks?
I believe the “top of the order” is 1-5 and “bottom of the order” is 6-9. If I was a coach, I would treat my lineup as two groups (i.e. top and bottom), instead of one lineup 1-9. I would focus on OBP, SB, and OPS. Strikeouts per plate appearances too.
D1 Baseball’s SEC Extra’s podcast (Joe Healy and Mark Etheridge) briefly talked about this. I thought it was very interesting discussion. They made some great points. They were saying all college baseball fans want more college baseball games on TV, especially big games. But Healy and Etheridge were inquiring if college games’ long length are a deterrent for ESPN and other networks. That the networks can’t/won’t schedule a 3 1/2 or 4-hour window for a game.
