VoiceOver Training App?

Yes, I'm aware of the tutorial built into macOS - but I was wondering if there were any 3rd Party apps or games for helping learn VoiceOver for Mac (like there are on iOS).

Anyone know of anything?

Living in Seattle after being laid off, how do you stay sane and not slip into depression and unhealthy habits?

I have been unemployed three times in my adult life.

I always fall into the same pattern. First, I take care of all The Big Things: updating my resume, filing for unemployment, etc. I tell myself that I Got This.

Then, after a few weeks, my employed friends grow tired of listening to me complain; and frankly, I'm tired of listening to it too, so I dive into Killing Time Between Applying For Jobs.

This used to be easy! The last two times I did this the economy wasn't on fire, making everything crazy expensive, and there were actually Third Places to hang out in for cheap or free.

Now, just stepping outside costs $12 and I won't be surprised if a subscription fee for sunlight and air is just on the horizon.

Then there is my eating habits. I was doing pretty good for a little while, but now I've lost count of how many evenings I've eaten dry Frosted Flakes right out of the box while doomscrolling YouTube shorts. I am 20 pounds heavier than I was when I moved back here last year - and I already needed to lose 20.

For my fellow Unemployed of Seattle, what are you doing to keep yourself accountable? What does self-care look like when you are broke?

UPDATE #3 : The wallet has been found!!

A random person on the street found it on 15th Ave and took a chance to come knock on my door.

I freaking love this city. You all are the best! Thanks to everyone who helped get my world back on track!

If you see me on one of my walks, don't be afraid to say hi. As for my wallet --- I'll be retiring the shorts I was wearing yesterday and just stick to things with much deeper pockets. Holy cats, this was stressful!

------

I think I lost my wallet yesterday on a walk. The only contents are a Braille credit card, my State ID, my discounted ORCA card, my Library card, and less than $20 cash.

My walk yesterday was 15th Ave NW from NW 65th Street to Market, then Market to 24th, then 24th Ave NW back up to NW 65th.

I collided with something in front of Taco Del Mar and hurt my leg, so I cut through the neighborhood on 61st to get back home.

Nothing in the wallet is very valuable, and nothing irreplaceable, but money is tight and running errands while blind is a hassle and not having my discount card makes it more expensive.

Thanks in advance to all who help look.

EDIT TO ADD: I made a whole lap THEN cut through halfway through my second lap.

  • 65th --> 15th (turn right)
  • 15th --> Market (turn right)
  • Market --> 24th (turn right)
  • 24th --> 65th (turn right)
  • 65th --> 15th (turn right)
  • 15th --> 61st (ouch!) (turn right) (limp)
  • 61st --> 24th

Side of street:

  • 65th (south sidewalk)
  • 15th (east WEST sidewalk)
  • Market (north sidewalk)
  • 24th (both sides, end to end)
  • 61st (north sidewalk)

UPDATE 2pm -- OMG, I mistyped! 15th Ave on the WEST sidewalk, not east!)
