Do we think they are clearing inventory for new merch to pair with the new album??

We all know that they are hard at work at a new album. With their merch sale I wondered if they were having a hard time selling stuff but it doesn't quite appear that way because most stuff is fully sold out. Are they trying to clear ALL stock to make way for new stuff? Curious 😏

Bird poo resistant rug material?

I'm in the market for a new rug in my bird room. I'm going to get a washable one, most likely, but would also prefer one that is a bit more poo-resistant than most (dries on top instead of fusing with the fibers) for in between washing sessions. Does anyone have any recommendations on specific materials?

It came back- what may be the trigger?

27F, I struggled with GERD for years since I was a kid. I was diagnosed when I was about 13. I used omeprazole intermittently, as it was the only thing that did any good. At some point during college, flares got fewer and far between and then stopped altogether. Now, in the last month or so it's back. I have had no change in diet. I noticed it back around the same time I developed a sickness. I had a productive cough, with no prior runny nose, and a fever, so I assume it was some type of respiratory infection. I thought the cough is what caused the reflux and it would be gone after I recovered but that is not the case. It has been every day since it first showed up and I bought my first bottle of omeprazole in years. I already eat a pretty GERD-friendly diet, which is how I believe I got rid of it in the first place. I am sober from all drugs and alcohol, no nicotine, and the caffeine intake is few and far between (usually a yerba mate once a week or less). Has anyone experienced a 'relapse' like this before? Any insight as to what caused it (maybe the same thing that caused the sickness?), or how to get back on track with managing it? I'm thinking about going to the doctor but I can't afford the copay right now and would like to get a jump on trying to manage it in the meantime.

Messaging targeted at supervisors, ideas?

This isn't quite the perfect flair as we already have a union started but we have yet to ratify our first contract, so I thought it may be somewhat fitting. I am a member of my union's bargaining team and we are at a point of escalation, and targeting the community and non-union coworkers with our messaging now. I am wondering if anyone has any good primary sources to convince some of our more union-phobic managers. I feel like I've heard a statistic that, on average, non-union workers in unionized workplaces get paid more but I'm not 100% certain that's true and would like to find a primary source before using something like that on a poster, for example. Does anyone know of where I can find that specific statistic, or things of a similar vein? Obviously we will push out messages on our specific proposals and the issues we are trying to solve for with them but I would also like to try and sell the union to some folks that are only inclined toward the type of thing they would benefit from. Thank you in advance <3

Cough with no other symptoms?

Has anybody had this recently? I am downright perplexed. My mom had it for over a month and now I just came down with it. My niece had it as well. My only other symptoms are headache and acid reflux (both caused by the cough, not the other way around). The cough is not very productive and is super tight but feels like it *ought to be* productive. I definitely can feel and taste mucus in my throat. My housemate and two of my coworkers also had extremely long lasting coughs. I don't remember if they had other symptoms, but if they did they cleared up in the first day or two. And then the cough lasted over a month, perhaps even two. The contagion seems dubious as well. Typically colds and similar are most contagious prior to symptoms and in the first few days. It seems I got this from my mom or housemate who already both had it for over a month by the time I got it. I've already had this for a week and it is still worsening, so that's why I'm assuming it's the same long-lasting cough.

How many people have birds/would be interested in a big free flight area?

This is just a complete random thought I had so forgive me that it's not thought all the way through. It would be an endeavor with permitting/building/etc. But I was thinking about how at zoos that have those giant aviaries you can walk through and I was thinking I wish I was allowed to bring my birds to play around in one of those for a while. I wonder if it would be neat to make one, like a dog park, but a bird park that you could visit with your pet birds and it would be filled with bird safe trees and bushes, temp and humidity controlled (or maybe open air outside of netting? Haven't thought that far). You could take them there to fly around freely or have more space to train recall. For safety there could be time blocks broken up for different sizes/species based on compatibility. There could be some sort of system in place to assist with catching them back. Is this something that would be of any interest to people? Is this just a crazy idea that would never work?

14 months later

Hello! I've (27F) made it 14 months and because so many of these posts are from folks who have less time than that I thought I'd give a little update.

I don't have strong cravings anymore. Prior to quitting, I was at 2 6mg at all times, including sleeping. I also smoked cigarettes and vaped (not usually all at the same time, I would cycle). I don't have the urge to zyn at all anymore, and one of my best friends zyns in front of me all the time. To be honest, though, I am fully sober from drugs and alcohol and do not think I could have done this if not for that. I did have strong cravings come back at about the 7 month mark but got through that. There was a point a few months ago that I started smoking hemp cigarettes as well. I wanted some type of vice and it did help. Because it wasn't accompanied by the nic rush, it also was a great reminder of how stupid smoking feels. Would recommend this as a crutch if you also struggle with smoking.

I have so much energy and am in great shape. I can be walking/hiking/biking whatever pretty much all day without crashing. I have also come off caffeine (recently; it's only been a few months), and while this isn't my first time quitting caffeine, it is the first time I can get through a whole day without caffeine, without needing a nap.

My dopamine system feels much more regulated. My appetite is good. I can't remember the last time I felt super hopeless and depressed which used to be my default. I have become a much more productive member of my community, volunteering and attending social events. I have gained confidence.

Financially, it has become much easier to plan. I used to be genuinely baffled where my money went and have to round up my budget in every area to account for the fact that I mysteriously spent way more every single day than I thought I did. That doesn't happen anymore. I can live with $15 in my account and not worry it's going to "disappear" and overdraft which I could not do before. This is one of the dumber ones because I should have been able to identify that it was going to the zyn but this genuinely stumped me. Not to mention having to go to the corner store every day increased the amount of other impulse purchases I would make.

One downside is I have gained a lot of weight. I am 5'8" and I used to be around 125 pounds. I am now at 160 and it is still creeping up. I am extremely active and don't eat more than I'm hungry for. I have cut out candy entirely, which is something I was eating a lot of when I first quit. I have accepted the weight gain but I also cannot afford to buy all new pants, for example. This has been a struggle for me.

Overall, I am very happy with what has come of quitting. I feel so free. Some of these effects are compounded by overall sobriety, but I have been sober from drugs and alcohol for longer than I have been off zyn and the effects I focused on here only became really pronounced when I quit the zyn as well.

Edit: forgot to add my skin also looks AMAZING. Much smoother and I don't break out ever anymore.

Am I being too precious about this (excluding men from sapphic spaces)?

I am attending a sapphic event on Thursday with two of my friends and my housemate. This event takes place in a space that is usually geared toward cis gay men, to the point of feeling unwelcoming to non-men at times. My housemate told me she invited our (we work together too) cis gay male coworker to come along with us. I like him but my knee jerk reaction was to tell her I'm uncomfortable bringing a man into this space. It is specifically intended for sapphic folks and we live in San Francisco so there are more than enough other events for him to attend for people of all identities. But now I am wondering if I am being too harsh? My housemate told me that her impression is more about the ratio and it would be a group of 5 non-men and 1 man, and that it's pride so everyone is welcome, and that because it's such a male-oriented venue that there will probably be a good number of men there anyway. I still feel pretty uncomfortable about being the one to specifically invite one into the space but I'm willing to change my view if it's warranted. Advice appreciated. Thank you :)

Statistically, which car is the safest?

Not sure if there is any data on this. But maybe other similar railcar systems. In the event of a crash, derailment, etc, which car is most likely to be the safest? I know it depends on the type of accident. I'm thinking more on average across all accident types.

Recommendation for small room with birds, United States?

I have two pet birds that are having respiratory issues that I'm starting to think may just be that my little levoit isn't doing the trick. My room is somewhere around 144 square feet. I want something that will be WAY overkill on dust, odors from elsewhere in the house, smoke, cooking smells, incense, aerosols, ideally viruses and bacteria as well. I'm willing to pay pretty much whatever as long as I can break it into payments (I can likely afford somewhere around $125 outright but can make payments on more). I just want something that will completely guarantee clean air all hours of the day and turn over the air quickly when I open the door with out overcompensation so much I'm breaking the bank for no good reason. I am considering an EverestAir or a Medify MA-35? But truly all the small differences in specs are going a bit over my head. Thank you so much in advance :)

Tiny bug? Norcal

This thing is itty bitty. Maybe like a mm. This is taken through my phone camera + a 30x hand lens. A distinct head and abdomen. Indoors. It seems attracted to corners that accumulate dust, crumbs, and bird feathers from my pets

Help me figure out what this could be?

I've gone to the ER twice and the regular vet twice now with my budgie. Did xrays, 21 days of antibiotics, and then more xrays. My vet said the lungs are totally fine and thinks my budgie has heart and/or hormonal problems. I'm going to move forward with what she suggests. The problem is my appointment isn't for 6 weeks (she said it had to be 6-8 weeks out from the previous xray) and now my budgie has hunched posture which, I believe is a respiratory symptom again. I could take him to the ER but they don't have an avian specialist and the best they can do, essentially, is prescribe something that I point them in the direction of. I can't make it into my regular vet for a few weeks even if I go that route because they don't have any open appointments. I did email the vet but she isn't getting back to me. Does anyone have any leads on what might be the problem if you've gone through anything similar with your budgies? Is the hunching something that can be caused by the heart problem? I want to do the best thing but I know the ER isn't a good move unless I already have an idea of what the problem is, and every other option is just a waiting game.

How do I take positions off my resume?

I've heard the advice to take off anything not relevant to the job I'm applying to, and frankly, as someone who has done a lot of short, fixed-term projects, I don't have enough room anyway. But how do I do this without making it look like I have huge employment gaps? This has always confused me and I just end up ignoring the advice and having a bunch of irrelevant experience on my resume. Any advice appreciated :)

Hello. I have taken my budgie to the vet 4 times in the last few weeks after having some respiratory symptoms. I have spent somewhere close to $2000 already. I did antibiotics and x-rays afterwards to double check the treatment. I just got the results back. Lungs look great (yay!) but they suspect a heart condition and a hormonal condition. I attached the email I got. This treatment will run me at least $800 more, and then of course there's the fact that this is just diagnostics and there would theoretically be treatment following that. I am at the point where I would have to take out loans. My savings are fully depleted. I am willing if it's what my bird needs, but I would like to hear from you if your bird has had either of these suspected conditions, or if you have also gotten similar xray results and it turned out to be nothing, or truly any other adjacent experiences. I really would just like to hear how it turned out and try and to decide if it's a good call to put myself into debt over this or what to brace for. I did email my vet back and am waiting to hear back but I also know she's extremely busy so I'm not expecting the quickest or most thorough response from her.
