Is it normal that Pocketbook gets slightly warm when it's turned on (PB 629)?

Sorry for spamming, but I wanted to ask a separate question and not mix with my previous post. I have a Pocketbook Verse 629 and it gets slightly warm at the bottom, when it's turned on. Is it normal?

Also, is it normal it gets noticeably warm when it's charging? I think it only draws 5W when charging, which I don't think should make it warm, but I want to make sure.

Battery suddenly got really bad. Did I accidentally removed wrong folder, or the heat broke the battery (pocketbook verse 629)?

This is about pocketbook verse 629 which I bought 8 months ago. 3 things happened almost simultaneously, and it's hard to pin-point what caused it. I am afraid that it's because of the latest heat waves in my country, but maybe I removed something by accident:

  1. I haven't been using the device for the last week. I turned it on today after recent heat waves in my country. There was almost 40*C in my house for a few days. According to the manual it's the maximum level for this device.

  2. I loaded an ebook and when I opened it, the pocketbook started counting pages and it kept counting (this ebook has over 1000 pages). Suddenly it got really warm on the back and the battery level was dropping in front of my eyes, 1% every 30-60 seconds. Only when it got to 5%, the battery level was dropping slower. When it got to 3% I couldn't use it anymore and I had to charge it.

  3. When I was loading this ebook via USB cable, I decided to remove those folders with books in other languages which come by default. I wanted simpler view. I am now not sure whether I removed some folder by accident and this caused the damage? This is what I currently have. Do you also have something like this? I don't remember if I created the "Downloads" folder myself or it was there by default, but is there any important folder missing here?

I let the device discharge to 3% and now I'm charging it hoping that once it hits 100%, it will somehow magically calibrate and fix itself, heh... Btw. I have the latest firmware verson: 629.6.10.1461

edit: I charged the device fully, and my first impression is that the battery's level isn't decreasing that fast - at least after a quick 15 min test (with this big file after 15 min battery would be already like 15% lower). I think this big file was causing this for some reason, but I doubt it was a virus. It's super weird. :D It wasn't that big anyway, 16MB .epub. I removed the file just in case. :D I will need to give it a real test with real ebook.

edit2: After charging it to 100% (it was really warm when charging, not sure if this is normal), i couldn't resist and decided to take a risk with the same file, so I loaded it again and opened it and now it's working fine. The device is not overheating anymore, although now I notice it's a little bit warmer at the bottom, I am not sure if it was always like this, or if I am now oversensitive. It is definitely warmer when it's counting pages on long ebooks (~1000 pages). The battery stays at the same level and the percentage isn't dropping that fast anymore.

I don't get this concept of "remove distractions, do nothing, and something will come up"

It's not directly related to decaf, but indirectly, I think yes.
Caffeine is one of those distractions. So are the movies, books, games, etc. This is something I've been seeing on youtube lately. They say that we constantly get distracted with lots of stuff. That we can't sit in quiet for 15 minutes etc. And that it's almost "recommended" to experience SOLITUDE.
To be with yourself, without distractions, and then you will be able to see more of your true "yourself".
It may sound good on paper, but in reality all I get is I can then only see how shitty everything is, mainly my life. I think I conciously choose to be distracted. Just read books, take walks, until I die. Don't spend time on that "quiet time with yourself", because what's the point if all you see is just shit? Isn't it better to make your life a little less stressful and read a novel or play tetris, or something?
Has anyone went through something like this? Did solitude+decaf work for you?

It's so unfair that parents with mental issues are almost untouchable by the justice

It's so unfair that parents with mental issues are almost untouchable by the justice. They rarely face any consequences. They can screw up your life and nothing will happen to them. There are so may ways a parents can screw up child's life and at the same time it won't break any law and even if, you can't prove it often.

it's like they can just make a kid, do all the damage, and that's it. Are you damaged now? Ah, who cares, you're on your own. I hate it so fucking much.

How warm does your Anbernic get when playing GBA games (especially on rg34xx)?

I've never had any handheld console so I don't have any experience but I read some posts that Anbernic can get warm, although that would depend on which system is being emulated. I'm mostly curious about GBA games. How warm can it get after playing let's say GBA games for 2 hours? And how "normal" is it if it gets warm or how risky it is that it will get damaged from heat after ~1 year or something? Sorry if it's stupid question, but I was trying to emulate GBA on my phone and it got warmer and I thought that maybe it would be better not to harm my phone like this and play on something more 'dedicated' instead (like anbernic). But maybe with these consoles it's the same story.

anyone had any luck with HP OmniBook 5 AI Ultra 5-225U?

There's a good deal in my country and I can buy it even cheaper without windows (which seems to be rare thing with HP Omnibook laptops as normally they come with W11 preinstalled). I can't find any info on HP OmniBook 5 AI Ultra 5-225U and Linux compatibility. I see that here: https://ubuntu.com/certified/laptops there are 3 laptops (2 dells, 1 lenovo) supporting this CPU, but nothing with omnibook itself.
Should I risk it? :D btw. maybe somebody here was able to get their hands on this laptop, do you recommend it overall?

Anyone here had ACER Revo Box RB102-BARR R7-7730U 16GB RAM 512GB SSD?

It's one of the cheapest mini pcs where in my country, and the one that is actually available at this moment. I'm curious if anyone here had a chance to work on this computer? It would be just for simple usage like running browser in linux mint or playing games from early 2000s. Even though it's Acer, there are not many opinions on this model.

Is "don't compare yourself to others" just bullshit and cope?

If so many people compare themselves to others, isn't it kind of "natural" thing to do? Of course there should be a line somewhere, when it comes to greediness/expectations etc. Like, it's not good to be mad that someone has a expensive car and all other hyper materialistic stuff. But what about the usual stuff? Like family staff or health. I see so many people living their lives who don't have problems I have. Of course everyone has their own problems but I think that it is or will be possible to look at people's problems from more objective perspective and actually say "you have it worse than this guy". This is why I think it's just cope to say "don't compare yourself to others". What do you think? I'm trying to appreciate things I have, but sometimes it still feels like it's not enough. Especially knowing that I had some things in my past already, and I don't have them anymore.

I just wanted to add that the only "upside" in this is that it forces you to try different methods which sometimes may help you find something more "unique", but it's not like it works with every thing. So from this perspective my cope is sometimes that "it's just the way it should be for me, in my situation".

Each misfortune and failure only makes me want more which only makes me more miserable.

When I was a kid it's like I had everything. But when you're young you don't appreciate what you have like when you're adult. When you're a kid, you just live.

I was healthy physically. I didn't wish to be healthy because there was no need for that. Now I'm not healthy. And I never will get my old health back. So now I want to be healthy.

I lived with my parents when I was a kid. I had my own comfy room. Now I don't have it anymore and I am forced to rent, mostly because of my parents. So now I want to live in a comfortable place, that ideally, would be mine.

I didn't have so many traumas. And those traumas that I had when I was a kid, I still couldn't fully digest them, so they didn't have that big of an impact on me (at that age). So now I wish I didn't have to experience those situations and I'm butthurt that I had to.

And so on and so on. I'm 32. Since I was 14, it's like every year has been getting me closer and closer to the point of no return. I'm 99% sure I am already past that point anyway. It's too late to fix so many things. Many of them were permanently broken. Now because of all that, I am constantly reminded of what I used to have, even if it wasn't perfect back then. And it's hard to appreciate what I have now. I'm trying. But sometimes it's just too hard to appreciate since it's "worse" than this old stuff. I don't know if I believe in God, but every time I am butthurt, my conscious is eating me that I am not appreciating what I have now, and it feels like I'm commiting a mortal sin with this kind of thinking.

Maybe it's a matter of learning and time, and one day I will appreciate all things that I have today. Do you think there's any good way to learn it, or it's more like "just shut up and stop complaining, it could be worse"? This approach doesn't sound optimistic, but to be honest, sometimes I think that's the only option. At least it's simple, even if it's not that "romantic".

What about you? Are you trying to learn to appreciate stuff that you have? What do you think about appreciation overall?

Can anyone please give me some tips how to proceed? I'm stuck. Numbers in grey cells are "fixed"/"default", and those in white cells were filled out by me.

What refurbished laptop/mini-pc would be good enough for games from 2007-2012?

Should I look for something with discrete GPU or integrated will be enough (in case of laptop)? Or maybe refurbished is not worth it and I should just buy any cheapest new laptop? Currently I'm using Dell Latitude E6420 which is thick (which is good because it feels solid), so I don't want any of those laptops that bend under even a small pressure if you know what I mean.
*By mini-pc I mean those desktop-minis or tinys like dell optiplex, thinkcentre, prodesk/elitedesk.

Anyone played on integrated graphics on Intel's "T" series CPUs? Like i5-6400T, i3-8100T, etc.

If so, what game were you able to run and on what CPU? I'm curious what I would be able to play on i5-6400T and i3-8100T. On youtube there are not that many videos. And if I even find them, they're more about non-T. I don't know how relevant that is if someone can play game X on i5-6400. Does it mean I will be also able to play it on i5-6400T and get the same FPS?

I'm thinking about buying one of those refurbished mff pc's, like dell optiplex micro or hp elite/prodesk or thinkcentre. :)

I want to give up

I don't even know for how long I've been "clean". I haven't touched coffee/tea since the start of 2025, around the 1st quarter. Before that I already had been trying a few week breaks. Last time I had caffeine, it was last year in May, when I had a dark chocolate.

Overall, Some things got better, some didn't. It's not so black and white. I still cannot tell whether there are more positives or negatives or it's stuck at '0'. This is so dumb that I am still occasionally visiting this subreddit. That I still think about it. I can't even get myself to mop the floor and I haven't done it since I quit, so that's almost 2 years. XD Caffeine would give me a lot of bad symptoms, but at least I had somewhat more motivation.

And I am still taking naps 1-2 a day. Before that I didn't need to take any naps. Those are not even naps, I just have to lay for 30-60 minutes with my eyes closed.

Fuck all this. And then you see those posts or videos on youtube where people tell you that being caffeine-free is the right path to enlightenment or to get closer to the Source or whatever. I don't get that. I also don't feel more true myself - maybe just less impulsive and emotional, but I don't know if I am different character now than when I used to drink coffee/tea. Maybe a little. I don't know. I can't even tell what I can be sure of.
