Feel free to share anything that helps low end systems in general
In my case I have a nvidia 1060 3gb and running Linux (with intel i7 6700 16gb ram). I think VRAM is the main bottleneck of my system (in addition to not being able to utilize DLSS!), and I have heard FSR can eat vram so it may not be suggested to use. What Steam launch options should I be using? Is it better to set lower resolution and upscale it or leave it as the resolution you want? Is it better to use a bit lower resolution but with high quality anti alisasing, or a bit higher resolution with "performant" or no antialiasing? Can I or should I be using Gamescope? What can overclocking help with and is it suggested? These types of questions are the type of thing I am wondering about and I probably missed a lot.

I have an Asus a15 with Ryzen 7 7445hs 16gb ram and a rtx 3050 4gb I wanna try Forza horizon 6 and resident evil 9 but I'm worried about the temps causing damage to my system in the long run so just wanted to ask if I should go for it or not I'm fine with dlss to performance or balanced or even running the game on 720p low-medium
Hi everyone: I wanted to share my situation. I got this PC for free from a friend (Athlon 320GE, 16GB RAM, SSD, no dedicated graphics card), and given my financial circumstances (living in a third-world country), it’s been incredibly useful for trying out some eighth-generation titles. I recently finished KCD and Dark Souls 3; to my surprise, they ran really well at 720p with some setting adjustments. Now, here’s my question: is it possible to play Elden Ring at at least 30fps with these specs by playing at low resolution and minimum settings? Also, if anyone knows of any optimization mods, please let me know. I ask because I have the chance to play it for free.
Proocessor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U

Can you recommend games suitable for my PC—nothing too mainstream like Minecraft, Terraria, SW, and the like?

And also is it possible to add a better graphic card?
I have an HP elitedesk 705 g4, with a Ryzen 5 2400g, vega 3 integrated graphics, and 16gb ddr4 ram, running windows 10. It has a 180w psu.
Without getting too janky, I'm trying to understand if I can play some somewhat newer games by adding a GPU. Without knowing anything, i picked up an M4000 Quadro for $80CAD, tho now I'm not sure if that will work at all, even ignoring the size.
The connector in question is on the mobo, and currently supplies the cd drive and (non existent) hdd. It looks right to me, but I know almost nothing 😅 are there any obvious problems I need to be aware of? Will I fry my computer somehow? Should I keep looking for a more suitable GPU that only uses PCIE for power? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
My laptop has a Intel UHD 620 which I think is the equivalent to Nvidia GT 730, will Esoteric Ebb runs smoothly? It's minimum spec is GTX 1050.
I managed to get a msi thin gf65.
Specs
Processor: Intel core i7-10750H
GPU: GTX 1660 Ti

I got it off ebay for a good price and it was worth it when i got it after repasting the laptop it was still overheating, so I had to undervolt it now my temps are mostly low. I managed to finally play some of the games I'd been saving up, right now I'm playing resident evil requiem (game still looks great even on low settings).
After years of gaming on integrated graphics the switch feels amazing. First pc I had was a dell desktop with a 2nd gen duo core cpu with 4gb ram, played call of duty modern warfare and World at war. Later I switched to an hp laptop with a 3rd gen i5 and 8gb ram with intel uhd 520. In August last year I got a hp envy x360 with a i5 11th gen, 16gb ram and intel iris xe graphics played RE 2 remake and rise of the tomb raider. I may have a better pc but I'll never forget the endless nights of gaming on my potato pc, I will treasure those memories forever.
Hello!
After using my laptop for 6 years, it think i should upgrade these are my current specs:
i3-7020u - dual core clocked at 2.3GHZ (base, this cpu doesn't support boosting)
intel hd 620 igpu
12GB ddr4 2133mhz ram
OS: fedora linux
I am thinking of buying a used laptop, with one of these apus (they are very similar in specs just different names):
ryzen 5 5600u
ryzen 5 5625u
ryzen 5 pro 5650u
ryzen 5 pro 5675u
laptops with these apus in my country usually cost around 250$ US dollars.
I know that any of these processors will give me a huge cpu difference. but is it worth the upgrade or should i save more money to buy something with a better igpu something with a radeon m660 or m680?
games i want to play:
the farcry series 3, 4, 5, 6
resident evil 2,3,4 remake
forza 5,6
rdr2
doom eternal
and other 2D titles
Hello there guys,
PC Games Hardware has a large GPU benchmark special with 180 graphics cards tested from 2009 to today, covering Geforce and Radeon models across many generations, from old entry-level cards to former flagships and current high-end GPUs.
Since the article is basically a long-term GPU performance archive in benchmark form, I asked our GPU editor Raff why this project was interesting to him beyond the raw numbers. His answer:
>Since I was a teenager, I’ve had a soft spot for benchmark bar charts. Especially the ones where a new GPU generation didn’t just beat the old one, but clearly moved the whole performance scale. Back in the late 90s, when I ran my first benchmarks like 3DMark 99, Quake and Incoming, it felt like there was a new champion every other week. That feeling has become rarer. Today, unless you enable Multi Frame Generation, a new high-end card often means something like 30 percent more performance. That is still progress, but it does not feel quite the same. This 180-GPU benchmark brought some of that feeling back. It does not go all the way down into the Wild West of the 90s, but the older cards from 2009 onward still show how large the long-term jumps have been
The comparison includes current cards, older high-end models, low-end GPUs, several long-lived architectures and a few outliers.
Some of the more interesting questions:
It was a substantial amount of retesting, but the result is a useful snapshot of how GPU performance has shifted over the past decade and a half.
Which GPU generation do you think was the biggest real-world jump?

I got a laptop (Windows 11) with AMD Ryzen 7 5700U (integrated gpu), 16gb RAM ddr4 and 512 GB SSD
Minimum system requirements: System: Windows XP / Vista / 7
Processor: 1.8 GHz
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Graphics: 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended)
Storage: 2GB HDD
So, I've heard claims that Proton allowed DirectX Ultimate on cards that don't allow it, yet I can't find a way to make it work, and thus games like Final Fantasy XVI or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won't run. I'm currently running CachyOS. Are claims of accomplishment nothing more than bluster?
Update: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League runs on this beast at 35 FPS at 1080p with AMD FSR2 and lowest settings. Ridiculous fun considering the minimum system requirements:
System Requirements Minimum: OS: Win 10 (64 bit) Processor: Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.20 GHz Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 65 GB available space
I love messing with old hardware!
I finally purchased Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon since there was a 50% off offer in Steam. I LOVE the game, but having the right device in which to play has always been a concern. I asked ChatGPT if it's possible to run the game on my laptop and the answer was positive, but I'm not entirely sure...
This are some key points of my device:

I think I should upgrade to a 11th or 12th gen but I would have to get new RAM, CPU cooler, and PSU. I have a DDR5 MSI B760 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard on my shelf not being used and I have a (2×8) DDR4 corsair vengeance rgb pro I can't use with the motherboard.
i have an intel i5-4670S cpu
