Decompression 2026: Oakland?

I didn't make it to this last year, but am thinking about going this time. It's been a while since I have been able to go. Last decomp i hit was 2019 and it was a blast.

Did any of you go? How was it? Was parking miserable or was it easy? Lots of fun? Safety an issue? (on site/or in the area)

Thoughts/opinions?

I see that they have applications for theme camps/art cars, but i don't see anything about a current lineup. I know that's expected but it's now pretty close to the date.

I can't unsee this

The rest of the art car was far less menacing and terrifying, fortunately. Good music and seemed like fun folks. Definitely the opposite of the movie.

But, had they come rolling up by 9 & C playing AC/DC, we'd have loved it.

Perhaps one has to be old enough to remember this ol' 80's cult classic on VHS....

Differences between web & Mac app? (Business workspace)

I'm noticing a few, even with the current versions.

This is for a Business plan, not Pro/Plus/etc.

Web: can't make Word documents. Mac: can make Word documents, but can't see any GPTs.

Web: can move things between projects. Mac: can't do that.

Web: can't see my local files (kind of obvious) Mac: can use my local files, and so far hasn't gone bananas and rm -rf'd my life.

Web: Can't even see "Work" or Codex Mac: can definitely see Work and Codex. I still get them mixed up.

Are there other differences I'm not aware of yet?

We'd like to allow it read-only to a shared folder, but since we can't see a GPT we created with the web version, I guess this isn't possible. Or is it?

Curious how other Business plan users are doing this. I mention that because some of the how-to guides I see are specific to the personal plans.

Thanks!

My experience so far (4 months in.) has been interesting.

My brief experience as a just over 50 guy that's in relatively ok cardiovascular shape. I started taking it for generalized anxiety/work related PTSD but it was also recommended due to nerve pain after a lower back injury. I've been able to go back to work and i'm less anxious and stressed at work. I can't get too riled up and i'm not over-thinking things.

For the nerve issues, it's been great. I can't even remember the last time that I had any of my previous "nerve zaps" down either of my legs. It's been fantastic for that.

Sleep? I take mine around noon, and around 2-3 pm i start to feel like a potato. Motivation to do much of anything just isn't there. I've been setting reminders and alarms, which has helped, because otherwise I really won't do much but loaf around.

Food? I've had the opposite of food aversions that i've read about here - in fact, i'm eating a wider variety of foods, and really trying to eat healthier due to the (of course...) constipation. One can only consume so much water. Haven't tried miralax but that's probably not a bad idea.

I used to hate tomatoes and cucumbers on salads. Now I just munch through them. I even ate some avocado on a sandwich, which I never used to do.

sexual side effects, they exist, and mostly a lack of libido. I've been advised against trying to add wellbutrin because for me, it's likely to increase anxiety and my tought-circling-drain pattern.

questions: I had someone tell me that adding a low dose (2.5mg) cialis daily was good for them, and it also did a little bit to slightly alleviate the mild hypertension that Cymbalta can come with.

as for the food thing, has this happened to any of you? did it stay this way? I actually like that I've lost some of the texture anxiety about foods and that i'm just chowing down on more veggies that i used to avoid. This part is great!

also the "i'm a lot less anxious and can go out more" has been great too, even if there are people outside. :)

just curious.

(fyi: i work in healthcare, i do have access to things like up2date, and of course i'll ask my pcp before changing anything. i'm asking here for real life experiences.)

Anyone need a gen2 starlink unit?

I'm in Sacramento, CA and have one working but kinda playa crusty Starlink unit that i want to get to a new home. I have zero clue what their resale value is and would happily barter something for it. Comes with cables and Husky case.

Q&A: "Can't you just unplug and enjoy the burn?" - yes, and 95% of the time we do. My partner & I are with ESD and we really do use it for stuff on playa. "Why don't you need it?" - moved our plan to a Starlink Mini. "Can you ship?" - nope, sorry, but if you're in northern california or the bay area, i might be able to deliver, if you help me find a good shawarma place in your hood. Again, I'm in Sacramento.

It's not locked to a plan but i'm not entirely sure how the hardware transfer process goes, and would happily assist you in getting that taken care of. I haven't looked to see what the data plans are even like today.

Unable to get certificate working properly.

There are two images. The first is an example of what I've been trying, and the second is an example of what I get for a certificate.

In the Console Plane, it shows that it's active and green. I can go in and revoke it and add a new one, but the same thing still happens. The error I get in Firefox is "Error Code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN" and I get similar errors in Edge and Safari.

I can successfully issue a wildcard cert for other things in my "home.example.com" realm using Cloudflare DNS-01 so I am unsure if that's the issue.

Haven't seen a ton of documentation on this so far, so I'm curious if it's a really simple thing. I also tried using the FQDN for "name" and it didn't change anything.

EDIT: Solution in case anyone else sees this - use the fully qualified domain name in the "Domain Name" field and then if you're using Chrome/Edge/etc, just quit the browser, go get some coffee, and come back and re-launch the browser. Turns out it was a caching issue of some sort. I tested in Safari and Firefox, and it's working.

Upgrading to 5gig questions

I was looking at plan changes on my account and sure enough, we have the new plans, maxing out at 5gig. But, it was showing me a price of $135. It's offering 5gig to my neighbor for $95/mo.

Currently we have 2gig, and it's $115/mo after a couple discounts: $25 ongoing, $20/mo all-in-one (even though I have FirstNet.)

Do these discounts usually carry over or do they start showing up a couple bill cycles later?

I see that it wants a tech visit, presumably for the BGW720 install. We have a BGW320 that's in passthrough and it's been great. Any known issues/worries with the 720 in passthrough these days? I have not seen of any, so i'm asking for those that have upgraded. :)

Will I end up with a new IP after the upgrade? Not a big deal, just something I'd like to plan for on my end.

How complicated is the tech visit? I want to assume it's a simple hardware swap and not super time consuming.

In this economy, if it saves $20/mo and is faster, might as well, especially since work reimburses some of it.
