brain cancer + MUNA dreams

hello! this is likely completely impossible, but my close friend is a huge MUNA fan & has historically gone to many of their shows. she can no longer do so due to her seizures / cancer progression & is super bummed to miss the seattle show tonight. I’ve been trying to figure out if there is any way at all I could figure out a way for her to meet them briefly instead, just to help balance out the immense grief. does anyone have any idea how I could do this / any leads etc? I know it’s probably impossible. but figured I’d ask. thanks for reading. 🤍

dad's next favorite book

hello all - looking for help finding some recommendations for my dad for a very belated Father's Day and birthday gift. I don't entirely know what category his favorite books would fall into - generally fiction but not always, generally stories of great adventures and triumphs?

A few I know he's liked:

The Wager, David Grann

River of Doubt, Candice Millard

Wild Dark Shore, Charlotte McConaghy

Marriage at Sea, Sophie Elmhirst

He really loves music, flight / airplanes, and nature.

perplexed about tickets (please help a confused newbie)

Hello! I've attended very few concerts in my life and didn't even try to get on the list for Noah's tour when tickets first came out. I've read a bit about resale tickets via TM here, but I have a few questions -

People talk about refreshing for tickets often, but in my area I see multiple available all the time, but they are for super good seats / expensive seats. Do those tend to be available more often?

In general, is there an area for seats etc that tend to be most desirable?

Thank you for reading & sorry if I could find these answers elsewhere, Ive been trying but remain confused!

navigating wife’s “maybe” breakup?

hello!

my wife and I have been poly for almost 5 years.
our beginning was rough with my wife / nesting partner and my close friend expressing feelings for each other without us fully deciding to open our relationship in that way — but we have worked on that betrayal / hurt extensively in couples counseling and things have been really good between me & my wife, and me and my good friend / meta for years now.

my wife & her partner, however, have had some turbulent times and my meta recently expressed they’d like to de-escalate their relationship & break up by the end of the summer. their plan is to take the summer to process together & do a few things they haven’t done before etc as a closing. that said, my meta is initiating this & in the past has changed their mind or things have shifted and a break up hasn’t happened or they’ve gotten back together etc.

my question is: as someone who is not in their relationship, but obviously affected by it, especially as my meta is a close friend and I’d likely be losing contact with them if they do break up - how do I navigate this in a way that gives their relationship space while also caring for my own needs and anxiety?

the back and forth has been very hard for me in the past, and I really don’t know what to expect. it’s bringing up a lot of anxiety for me around what dynamics might change or not change and how connection with my friend/meta will likely be shifting or ending but *maybe* not? it’s not a dynamic my own nervous system would be okay with if I was dating person, but I’m not, I’m just impacted by it.

thoughts? advice? things I could ask for or do?

sorry this is so long. thank you for reading.

positive experience & tips

hello! just wanted to share a positive story from 5 days post op! my surgery went really well and I’m so happy with my decision. I’m recovering well, already out and about some, walking, and in very minimal pain. thought I’d note some of the things that helped me the most!

  1. anti nausea patch behind ear before surgery (ask your doctor about this if you’re prone to nausea after anesthesia, it was so helpful for me)

  2. rotating schedule of meds that I followed strictly, having others take notes of when meds were taken, what time, when next dose could happen, and set alarms so I never got behind (take the pain meds! especially the first few days! anything that helps your body rest and recover is important)

  3. miralax mix in packets + gasX for GI support and pain (I took half a packet the day before surgery too, not sure if this helped!) and also lots of fluids

  4. as much rest and sleep as possible — especially at first. so so worth it.

  5. arrange for *short* visits with friends / family — the fatigue is real but also for me, feelings of loneliness or sadness etc. it helped to have people around but not feel I had to entertain.

  6. other helpful items (for me): chapstick, mint sniff things, cough drops, lavender lotion, arnica/muscle pain relief cream for my shoulder, walkie talkies (mostly as a joke to keep spirits up, but also helpful if I need something and my partner is outside etc)

happy to answer any questions if that’s helpful, but just wanted to share how well things went and hopefully bring some comfort / ease to people.
