I have a real love, hate relationship with this gun.

I'd wanted an MP5 clone for some time when the SD came out. That was the gun I had to have. Finally, I sold a motorcycle and had the cash to get one. Having a little extra money in my pocket and no financial intelligence, I threw a bunch more money at it right away, the can, optic, stock, sling, etc.

When I was picking the gun up from the FFL, we realized the threads on the barrel had a knick in them, and a can wouldn't thread on. I should have e sent it right back. But I'd waited long enough to get it and didn't have the patience for that. Plus, Im a machinist, I can fix threads. I ordered a Rugged Sub 9 can for it full well, knowing it might not fit.

Brought it home fixed the barrel stuck a can I already had on it, and mounted the Dot. Went to shoot it and quickly realized the included optic mount is garbage. It sticks out too far and slices your hand when you hit the charging handle. Ordered a different mount.

My Sub 9 came it. It didn't fit under the shroud. Spent a couple hrs opening up the shroud and got the can to fit.

Within the first few hundred rounds started getting failure to ejects. A lot, like 4 times per mag.

Spent $300 with HK parts buying the parts kit to get an HK ejector, HK extractor, and springs. Put all those parts in and new optic rail. Still get the occasional failure to eject. Now maybe 1 per mag.

Worse than the failure to eject is the dismal accuracy. This thing shoots 5" groups at 25 yards. And the can shifts the point of impact nearly 18"!

All that said, it's fun to shoot. Unfortunately, it has single handedly doubled my ammo consumption. Im going to try and re crown the shitty barrel and see if that does anything for my accuracy issues.

Daytime predators

I have been losing birds' like crazy this summer. 3 Gunia hens, and 4 chickens. My birds freerange all day and sleep in closed up coops at night. When we noticed a bird missing we would generally find a pile of feathers in the grass a day or two later. Leading me to suspect Hawks.

However, on Monday, something made off with 3 chickens (a massive Brama, an Americana, and a black Astrolop), and 1 gunia between 7 and 8pm. All we have been able to find is a 20 yard long trail of feathers from 1 bird. No guniea feathers, no black feathers.

I live in Southern Minnesota. Any ideas what kind of predator might take 4 birds during daylight hours, leaving little evidence behind?

Out of battery detonation

Is out of battery detonation a known issue with Kunas?

I bought the gun yesterday. Was sighting it in this morning. On my 12th shoot, I believe it fired without the bolt completely closed. When I fired the shot, it was extremely loud, and my hand stung. I looked at it to see the bolt half open, resting a mangled case stuck to the ejector. It left a buldge in the side of the receiver.

I was shooting Blazer 124g ammo that I have shot a butt load of in all my various 9mm's. While inspecting the gun last night, I noticed the bolt was a little stiff, and if you closed it slowly, it would just barely pull its self closed. Being a brand new gun, I didn't think too much of it, I figured it would loosen up with use. While looking it over after this happened, I realized it would drop the hammer before the bolt fully closes.

I'll take it back to the store tomorrow and see what they have to say.
