I’m B2 closer to C1 as what my tutors told me but I still have trouble learning and speaking Dominican Spanish as most people 😂 I plan to go there to the DR in October or November but I need to step my game up. It’s pretty hard finding Dominicans to practice with on the daily basis so I’m hoping to get more knowledge by watching videos and reading. I have practically all streaming apps.

Claro que me pone nerviosa pero ir ahí es mi deseo. Hablo bastante que tengo un acento neutral pero trato de seguir aprendiendo su acento muy fuerte para poder comunicarme y entender bien. Lo qué más miedo me da es que no voy a tener un buen nivel y alguien podría aprovecharse de mí. The message says it all. I kinda didn’t realize how much time had past since my camera wasn’t working and I was doing things around the house. But towards the end I started to interrupt because she was talking so much and changing the subject 3x under one breath - I thought she was going to ask more questions, lol. Maybe she thought I was shy…? I wasn’t. I’m over the “I’m scared to speak” phase. I REALLY wanted to speak although I haven’t utilized the language in over 2 months or probably longer. Oh well… at least I got listening practice. Again, she was nice and welcoming. I’m not upset, just sharing my experience as a student.
Btw she hasn’t replied as I just sent the message and due to time differences.
Like… I’ll ask “How was your day?” “It was ok.” “Why just ok?” “I don’t wanna be here at this job.”
I, of course continue on for days to make sure I’m not trippin’ but if it keeps going on then okay, noted that you’re not interested in me as I am in you - energies unmatched.
I’m in my 20s and I would rather have a peaceful smooth vibe with entertainment and looking for places to go with my partner, solo, or with friends. I’ve been to spoken word several years ago and LOVED it but I think it closed down. Thank you!(:

I’ve been a Contact Representative (CSR) for over 12 years. I’m interested in applying as I’ve read the position description but I feel like it doesn’t indicate everything that the job entails. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone in that position or else I would’ve asked.
Has someone worked or currently in this position?
I’m not looking for conversation and friendship out of boredom. It’ll be nice to have a friend that I could travel with, experience new things, learn and grow together. I have many interests and hobbies and online friends that I’ve met in person so this is nothing new to me! 💕
So I have a few friends from the Dominican Republic but I’ve been talking one specifically every day since she is always available to talk on the phone. It’s sometimes nerve wracking to communicate with her.
For example: I told her I dislocated my hip, I went to the doctor then had to go to the chiropractor. I said “Me disloqué la cadera. Fui al médico y me refirieron al quiropráctico.” She’s like “Nooo es me compusiste la cadera. Se dicen eso.” And I’m like huh?? In my mind I’m thinking But I did dislocate my hip. I was highly confused. I had to explain everything over and over again with more words. She still believes she’s correct. But I believe she is correct only if I finished the sentence with “Me compusiste la cadera y me siento mejor.” Or something like that.
Another one I remember is I jokingly said “Quiero lamer el chocolate.” But she said “Es lamber…” with a B. Again, I’m like huh??
Btw she knows only the basic of English like greetings, numbers, etc so we communicate only in Spanish.
If I’m wrong please lmk so I can correct myself and move on, lol.
