Went to the Jack Johnson concert at SPAC last night. I ended up buying a tee for $45. When I paid it asked me how much of a tip I wanted to give. I of course did not tip
I really hope people aren't tipping non-tipped workers for overpriced tees. Would love to hear from someone who did and why they did this?
We got play a real life game of Centipede at SPAC as droves of restless teens ran towards the front of the lawn seats 30 at a time 10 min into the Jack Johnson concert last and then again a half hour before it was over. It was kind of fun to move a chair and watch the head of the snake find a new route.
Anyone else play this game last night?
Climbed some guide wall climbs in the Gunks today for the first time in nearly 15 years. I forgot how sketch that rappel is. Any suggestions for alternatives? It's a long walk to the uberfall from there and I recall the Beginners D rappel being a little sketch also.
$20 for a watered down "premium drink" in a plastic cup poured from a tap. This is a mixed drink... The counter service employee brings the drink to me, hands me the kiosk and says there's going to be a gratuity option in moment. What comes next?
Hi there - I'm a fit 50 year old male in Greenfield Center, NY looking for climbing partners. I climbed heavily from 1999 to 2012 originally at Ragged Mountain in CT and the Gunks before moving to Seattle where I became primarily focused on alpine rock and ice. I was heavily involved in The Mountaineers as a climb leader and I edited a chapter of Freedom of the Hills (Basic Safety Systems).
I gave up climbing in 2012 to focus on bike racing after my wife and I had kids. It seemed irresponsible to be gone all the time with young kids at home. We moved back to the area in 2019 and I've since been to the Gunks with an old partner who doesn't lead.
I'm getting back into climbing and I'm looking for partners. Open to different ages and genders. I'm also happy to mentor someone. My goals (currently capable) are to be leading mid grades on rock (trad) as well as alpine ice in the Daks and Whites. I have a very flexible schedule and can get out pretty much any day of the week.
Please let me know if you have similar interests. We could meet at Rocksport for some indoor rock and figure out if our goals and interests align before heading outside.
We live in greenfield center. Open to Wilton, Greenfield, and Saratoga. I understand medical reimbursement (my wife and I are both in healthcare) and why someone may choose to stop taking these insurances. If it's time to move on to someone earlier in their career trying to grow their business so be it. I view ODs fairly generically.
