Took my 130# ELB for a walk in the woods...
Had an exceptional time shooting the field course at my local range (Joliet Archery Club) with some exceptional company!
Managed to shoot my 130# self-hickory ELB for the entire afternoon!

Just finished up this set of a dozen target practice arrows for an archer out in Seattle!
These are 55# ash shafts tipped with medieval-style field points, both from 3 Rivers.
They're fletched with white turkey feathers bound into a beeswax and lamb fat verdigris compound with silk that was hand-dyed red using madder root, a historical fabric dye used in the middle ages.
Hey everyone!
My name is Bryan and I'm a historical fletcher and medieval English longbow archer & reenactor.
The Bristol Renaissance Faire opened this past weekend and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to create this educational display and chat with folks about all-things archery.
I had so much fun and was blown away by the amount of interest in historical archery! Can't wait to go back later this season and do it again.
If you find yourself at Bristol, please come say hi at the Seven Sons Archery booth!
...with a beautiful Pacific Yew ELB from bowyer Jake Fenwick. Draws 100# at 30". It's so snappy, shooting these poplar "Mary Rose"-style arrows felt like throwing darts!

I will never not love shooting yew.

What a great #FullDrawFriday!
It's been a minute, but I am so happy to have finished my first commission since having knee surgery at the end of January. These were a long time in the making and I am genuinely grateful for the bowman's patience.
Here we have six, 28", hand-planed alder arrows spined and weight matched for a 35# bow. They are tipped with early medieval, Anglo-Saxon style socketed broadheads that were hand-forged in the UK by my friend Red from the Grey Goose Workshop. I believe they are replicas of heads found at Corfe Castle in Dorset.
Please check out his work on Instagram!

They're fletched with some of the cleanest natural barred turkey feathers I've ever seen bound into an iron oxide, beeswax, and animal fat fletching glue with brown silk and finished with several coats of beeswax and mineral oil paste. I absolutely love how the wax paste makes the color of the alder pop.
At the archer's request, the heads are also each mounted in line with the nocks, so the full profile of the head is visible when the arrow is on the the bowstring.
I love the way these turned out; I hope their new owner agrees!

There's something about the art style with the thick lines, the weird ampersand, and his vaguely Chris Evans-like appearance that makes me feel like this was AI-generated, but I could be wrong. It's a relatively new logo and now it's slapped all over the place and it's driving me nuts.
Hey everyone!
It's been a minute, but I am finally getting back to the task after another knee surgery this winter.
Should have these done next week for a PROPER #FletcherFriday, but I figured I'd pop in with a WIP shot of a commission I'm nearly done with.
These are hand-planed alder shafts, weight matched and spined for 35#. They are tipped with early medieval, Saxon-style broadheads that were hand-forged by Red from Grey Goose Workshop in England.
These will get some rust-red iron oxide fletching compound and some sharp white & brown barred turkey feathers next week, then they will be ready for their new owner.
I'll post the finshed set next week!
Bonus pics of my own #FullDrawFriday from earlier today.
Just recieved this beastly new English Longbow from fantastic bowyer Doug Parry (Archeybowman).
It's 80" between the fiercest nocks I think I have ever seen and draws an incredibly smooth 130# at 32".
Looking forward to getting this on the range!
Medieval-style arrows made by me.
Just recieved this stunning new hickory English Longbow from bowyer Doug Parry (Archeybowman).
It draws an incredibly smooth 130# at 32" and has some of the fiercest looking nocks I've ever seen.
Can't wait to get this out on the range to see what it can do!

Haven't posted in a while, but I recieved this new beauty yesterday and couldn't think of a better reason to jump back into the sub.
This beast is an 80" hickory self-ELB made for me by bowyer Doug Parry (Archeybowman) in WA state. It draws an incredibly smooth 130# at 32". I had just returned home from the gym, but couldn't resist shooting it a few times. I LOVE how long and pointy the nocks are on this one.
I have been recovering from major knee surgery which is why I have been kinds quiet on socials, but it feels good to be getting back to the task.
