100 Signed Copies Sold…From Selling Copies Out Of My Local Fisherman’s Bar!
Not every day yall see an author’s journey like mine, but I’m ready to share! 🎭
I ordered the proofs to start so that they have the “not for resale” across them and it makes it feel like it’s part of the theme. It’s been really exciting taking in a stack of books, with not a spare dollar to my name, and walking away with my tab paid for, cigarettes, some cash to reorder 5 or 10 more books, and even a couple bucks left over!
I’m here on Reddit for three and a half reasons.
#1 show other new authors an entertaining way I’ve been self publishing because like minds will think it’s cool.
#2. hopefully inspire your own creativity, and to show you how important putting “boots on the ground” is for your marketing success.
#3. (And most important) FIND someone who’s got a proven digital track record, to take over all of my online digital marketing efforts.
I will literally pay you a 33% cut of my monthly Amazon royalties, because I believe finding the right person is literally worth that much money to me.
Ive only been selling physical copies for a month and a half, and most of the time I only have 5-10 at a time in between days of waiting for orders.
But my **** is spreading like wildfire here in this town I’ve been building this up for, for over 4 years now, and I’ve got over 50 copies on order so I’ll be busy setting up booths and going to art shows and farmers markets and whatnot.
But I’m super terrible at the online portion of everything, I’m awkward at it, and don’t spend much time being online personally anyways.
But the right person will be able to make this shit blow up online, and I’d be willing to obviously put in a small budget to pay for weekly online ads as you see fit, with a budget that can fluctuate based on success we see.
Also, I’ve got other really cool digital things to market because I spent years building my own website that will host this theme of incarceration. The website is designed for you to land on a homepage where you’ve “committed a crime of curiosity” and are sent to booking (where you learn what the layout of the website is) then get sent to “your cell” which is the main page where you have access to “read books” which are links to the book, a page about my crime, and some other interesting stuff. Then there’s… there’s more cool stuff but you get the gist of where it’s going.
Contract is a seasonal 3 month contract where you get paid royalties monthly, for the previous 3 months of accumulated sales.
Also I’m dealing with poison oak and thought I’d share that too. Because it’s driving me insane.
Also my real case was pretty wild and I’d be super open like I always am with sharing more about it. Because it takes context to understand how such a thing could transpire.
