Google told me to upgrade my phone after the Android 17 Beta update bricked my Pixel 6 Pro.
I’m honestly beyond frustrated right now.
My Pixel 6 Pro became completely dead immediately after installing the latest official Android 17 Beta update. The screen showed graphical glitch lines during reboot, booted once, then shut down permanently.
Now the phone has:
* Black screen
* No vibration
* No charging indicator
* No Fastboot or Recovery
* Not detected by any PC
I contacted Google Support multiple times.
Instead of offering a repair or any real solution, I was basically told that since the Pixel 6 Pro wasn’t officially launched in India, they can’t repair it, can’t replace it, and my option is essentially to change or upgrade the phone.
And that’s the part that makes no sense to me.
Why should I pay for a new phone when the device fails immediately after an official Google software update?
This wasn’t a rooted phone, a custom ROM, or a random flash. It was the official OTA beta update delivered by Google itself.
I understand that beta software can have bugs. But a bug is one thing. A phone becoming completely unusable with no repair path is another.
I’ve already spent hours trying every troubleshooting step:
* Charged for 5+ hours
* Different chargers and cables
* Power button for 60+ seconds
* Power + Volume combinations
* Multiple PCs
Nothing works.
I’ve been using and recommending Pixel phones since 2023 because I genuinely liked the Pixel experience. But being told to pay more money after a Google update potentially bricked the device feels incredibly unfair.
Has anyone else received the same response from Google?
And honestly, do you think customers should be expected to upgrade at their own expense when an official software update leaves a phone completely dead?
