I found this little lady between my two shirts today, she was moving a LOT but wouldn't fly and didn't seem to scared of me or other movement. I put her in a mantis ready container (without a mantis in it) and I'm uncertain if she'll survive outside. Do you think she's in pain? Should I let her go out, knowing she won't make it? Do you think a good alternative would be to keep her with me, or is she in so much pain it would be best to let her pass? :( I love wasps so much and it breaks my heart seeing one in such horrible condition. She seems to be fine, she's climbing and moving okay, I'm thinking about serving her some sweet fruit!
Guess what dumbass (me) opened my lively hamster's terrarium yesterday and then forgot to close it. Me. This morning, after 13 hours, I look at her terrarium and. Sh*t. It's OPEN. The despair that went through my entire body, freezing my feet in their tracks, stopping my heart and paralyzing my mind was AWFUL. I look again, close the doors feeling terrified. And I dig. AND GUESS WHAT AMAZING, SMART, LOVELY, GENIUS HAMSTER WAS RESTING AMONGST HER CELLULOSE BEDDING WHEN I, THE MOMSTER I AM, UNCOVERED HER AND TOOK HER OUT. Bebe, my dear, the love of my hamster deprived heart, you smart, smart animal.
My parents are now 50-51, I'm only 16. I feel so fucking angry all the time, I love them so much and I know I should be happy I get good parents I can worry about but I'm just so heartbroken all the time. My grandparents are 75-76, and I just feel like it's so fucking unfair my parents get to grow old with theirs while I'll have to mourn them before I turn 50.
Edit: y'all this is a subreddit for mental health, don't get mad someone who doesn't feel well mentally posts something here. Telling me I should just "suck it up" or "grow up" won't change anything and will only make me and others struggling with simmilar things feel worse. I don't think my parents are extremely old or anything, I feel bad because they get more time with theirs than I do. Stop acting like a depressed teen thinking this way is fucked up
I'm a 16 year old girl, my dad is 52 and has smoked his entire life (probably since he was my age or even younger), he switched to elecrtonic cigarettes when I was little and I don't think he has any symptoms of a smoker, but I'm still so worried about him.
I can't help but to be so fucking angry all the time, I feel so hopeless. I try to tell him every now and then that I really wish he would live to see me turn 30 etc., but I don't think that does the job. I had a huge breakdown about a year ago, when I was also constantly crying about him dying early and I remember he told me then that's it's "the last thing making him happy" or smth like that. And it just fucking breaks my heart. I'm so angry at him, I feel like he's such an egoist about it too. His mom is ≈76 and healthy, his father died in 2023 of skin cancer, but I just can't help but too be angry he wants me to have the same fate. I don't want to lose my daddy when I'm young, I don't want to think about how much time we have left when I hang out with him when I'll be 30, and I hate thinking about it now. I love him so much and I can't stop crying anytime I think about it
I've got obsessed with those little goobers and since they live way longer than hamsters (my absolute favorite pets who I don't think I should get in the future, due to their short lifespan) I think I would like to become an owner in the future. How much do y'all spend on 2-3 ferrets?
Genuinely wtf do I do</3 She waits for me to come and have fun with her all the time when she's active, her entire day is sleeping -> waiting for mom to have fun 😭😭
This dangerous little lady has NEVER been violent in her life, ever since I got her she was just perfect; already tamed lol, loved getting attention, loved being picked up and played with gently, always wanting to be picked up etc. etc. But recently she just started to uh, nibble?? On everyone besides me? I'm a newer owner (kinda) and my close friend who's experienced told me it might be stress or boredom and I can see that. She bit my dad and that same friend to blood once, but she's not violent or jumpy at all, should I invest in some more toys and enrichment? She has a tunnel, ball that she can chew and roll around, her wheel, very basic sprays (I intend to get more soon) and I'm open to investing ALL my money into her if it's necessary. I want my girl to feel like a relaxed ball of sunshine all day every day :'>
Hi, recently diagnosed teenager here. I CAN'T do anything other than watching romcoms (just like in the movies, right?😭😭😭), text with my 2 friends and eat pre-made food. I have no strength for cooking, which used to be my pasion (+ I became pascetarian recently and my options feel limited, but I rarely feel like searching for recipies fitting for me...), exercising, learning how to draw which I used to dream about etc. I'm on non-addictive antidepressants and I feel better, but I still can't really bring myself to work on anything I would like to work on <\3 pls help a sister out, I need it <3
I got diagnosed with a couple of **problems** recently and I can't stop crying when I look at my girl Bebe, she's probably not even a year old and I just wanted to idk, listen to some people's advice about coping with her death some day? Have any of u lost ur hammies..??? How do u accept their death..?? I'm so scared for her 😭 Ik it's mainly my anxiety but it would defo help to talk with some people about it <3
I got some dried inu ears (?? I used Google translate because I have genuinely no idea what's the name in English) and I wanted to use them as sprays, I genuinely have NO idea what actual sprays are, since wherever I search it just says "get sprays!!" and information about hamsters in my native language is usually wrong and/or not rlly specific. ... Well, my girl Bebe eats her "sprays" and I think know she won't stop untill EVERYTHING is consumed/hidden in her pouch/burrow... What to do, what specific uh, dried "grass" to get??? I'm so confused and I don't want her to get fat again, since she just finished her weight loss..😭😭😭
I noticed Bebe (my female dwarf) absolutely loves climbing, she keeps going up and down her hides, bridges etc. and I would love to get that need covered for her but I have NO idea what stuff is safe for a hamster and google isn't rlly helping :C I just want to know what I can use/buy that wouldn't hurt her paws etc. 😭
Bebe (my little girl!) learnt that this opening is in fact an opening recently, she's very clingy and loves to have fun with me outside her terrarium. It's been about.. 2 days since I shown her that she can approach this opening and climb on my hand but now she's doing this and I'm so scared her hand will get hurt by this 😭 I saw her hanging on it for like, a full second probably and it seems dangerous. Apart from adding more bedding so she maybe will stop hanging (which I was planning on doing cus I got too little bedding when I was switching it out), is there anything I can do?? It's a new terrarium too 😭
I need to take my girl to the vet soon (for a check up! She's all fine and dandy as far as I can observe) so it's more of a "hey guys what do we think" question than a genuine worry, but uh, my hammy seems to not be a dwarf?
I've seen so many charts of what different hamster breeds look like and Bebe, my maybe-not-an-actual-dwarf hamster seems to appear more like a Russian than anything else.
Best pictures of her face attached; also, congrats Bebe! She's in the process of loosing weight since I sadly did mak3 a mistake with how much food she should be getting :( she lost about 8 grams in the past week and a half so I'm very proud of my girl!!! This mistake will never be made again 😭
Hi chat!! I'm planning on getting a female orchid mantis and I purchased this little box for her (I'm going to attach the net for her to hang from soon so dw!) and I'm just wondering if the dirt she has in right now (if anyone can tell what it is lmao) would be okay. Does the substrate matter when it comes to mantis care? Or maybe is there a type that I should get for her well-being? If anyone has problems identyfing what kind of 'dirt' it is, I have no problem purchasing more dirt and essentially just throwing out this and putting in new one. I want to make 100% sure that she's going to be comfy in her temporary home, that's why it's so small :)
