Trip Planning January/February 2027

Hello everyone,

I'm gonna be visiting Cambodia as part of a bigger Asia trip in 2027 and would like your thoughts on my itinerary as well as your help answering some questions.

I will be arriving in Siem Reap on 23/01 and departing from Phnom Penh on 07/02. The plan is pretty simple:

  • Siem Reap from 23/01 to 30/01 - 7 nights in total
  • Battambang from 30/01 to 02/02 - 3 nights in total
  • Phnom Penh from 02/02 to 07/02 - 5 nights in total

My goal is to take it slower since this will be part of a longer journey and I want to decrease the amount of transportation I have to go through. I also generally prefer to go deeper in each place instead of just rushing from one location to the next. I'm also not really a beach guy so that's why I decided to not include Koh Rong. I'll be heading to HCMC next so I really wanted to end the Cambodia trip in Phnom Penh for ease of travel to Vietnam.

Initially I booked this for January/February because I was under the impression that the weather would be optimal with lower temperatures and clearer skies. However I wasn't aware of the burning season that occurs a through SEA during this time. Will the air quality be so bad that it stops me from enjoying my trip? I will obviously be bringing with me masks, but now I'm second guessing whether I should have booked this trip for November instead.

Finally, are there any places you'd recommend visiting between Battambang and Phnom Penh?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Three weeks in Japan (Autumn 2025) - X-T30ii + XC35mmF2.0

Last year, I managed to fulfill my childhood dream of visiting Japan by spending 3 weeks in the country. Before the trip, I bought my first ever camera, a Fujifilm X-T30 II, and shot with it throughout the entire vacation. These are my 20 favourite photos. Every image was shot in RAW and edited later in Lightroom. The lens I used was an XC 35mm F2.0 that I bought while I was in Osaka. I have to say that using this camera + lens combo was perfect and a joy for a novice like me.

I'd really appreciate any feedback you can give, as I'm still a beginner and everything I know has been self-taught during the last 10 months.

For those interested, here's my rough itinerary:

  • Osaka - 5 nights
    • Day trip: Katsuo-ji Temple + Minoh Falls
    • Day trip: Nara
  • Himeji - Visited on the way to Hiroshima
  • Hiroshima - 3 nights
    • Day trip: Miyajima
  • Kyoto - 5 nights
    • Afternoon trip: Uji
  • Hakone - 1 night at a ryokan
  • Kamakura - 1 night
  • Tokyo - 3 nights close to Shinjuku
  • Fujikawaguchiko - 1 night
  • Tokyo - 4 nights close to Akihabara

Please ask me any questions you have and tell me which photo is your favourite!

After/Before - Goma fire ritual in Osaka

Last year, I managed to fulfil my childhood dream of visiting Japan by spending 3 weeks in the country. Before the trip, I bought my first ever camera, a Fujifilm X-T30 II, and shot with it throughout the entire vacation. This is one of my favourite pictures from the trip, it was shot in RAW and edited later in Lightroom. The lens I used was an XC 35mm F2.0 that I bought while I was in Osaka. My goal was to enhance the guy in the center that was playing an instrument next to the fire and also make the photo as cinematic as possible without making the edit totally unrealistic.

Camera: Fujifilm X-T30II

Lens: XC 35mm F2.0

ISO: 2000

Aperture: f/2.0

Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec

I'd really appreciate any feedback you can give, as I'm still a beginner and everything I know has been self-taught during the last 10 months. Sometimes I have a hard time knowing if my photos are over or under edited.

Three weeks in Japan (Autumn 2025)

Last year, I managed to fulfill my childhood dream of visiting Japan by spending 3 weeks in the country. Before the trip, I bought my first ever camera, a Fujifilm X-T30 II, and shot with it throughout the entire vacation. These are my 20 favourite photos. Every image was shot in RAW and edited later in Lightroom. Also, for those who are interested, the lens I used was an XC 35mm F2.0 that I bought while I was in Osaka.

Here's the rough itinerary I did for the trip:

  • Osaka - 5 nights
    • Day trip: Katsuo-ji Temple + Minoh Falls
    • Day trip: Nara Himeji - Visited on the way to Hiroshima
  • Hiroshima - 3 nights
    • Day trip: Miyajima
  • Kyoto - 5 nights
    • Afternoon trip: Uji
  • Hakone - 1 night at a ryokan
  • Kamakura - 1 night
  • Tokyo - 3 nights close to Shinjuku
  • Fujikawaguchiko - 1 night
  • Tokyo - 4 nights close to Akihabara

I loved everything but if I had to drop one place it would be Hakone, it was cool but nothing special compared to the other places. The loop just comes with a lot of time waiting in line for the next transportation: wait in line for the bus, then for the boat, then for the cable car, etc... Yes the ryokan experience with the onsen was amazing and a must do, but you can have that experience in a lot of places in a Japan, Onsen towns are a dime a dozen. If it wasn't for Fuji-san showing itself at the end of the day I would have felt that the day would have been a bit of a waste.

All in all the trip was absolutely fenomenal and it blew every expectation I had completely out of the water. I loved it so much I'm already planning to comeback in 2027 to visit different places for an even longer period of time!

Please ask me any questions you have and tell me which photo is your favourite!
