Pentel Energel RTX 0.5mm skipping on Maruman paper.

I bought a pack of energel recntly, thought they would be the dream ink, they have great dry time and they are smooth but it skips only in a new notebook I bought. Before blaming the energel maruman paper is very smooth so there is not much tooth for the pen to grip on. What are some good alternatives?

How many leads do u guys put in your mechanical pencil reserve?

I like to just click for more lead but I don't like the rattle sound when extra lead is in my mechanical pencil? I own 2 Delguard Lxs.
