I also had to have a BYOD device when I was at the Gymnasium and there, the devices were required by the school to have a touchscreen. But since the ETH doesn't have this requirement, I wanted to ask if you guys would nevertheless recommend buying a laptop with touchscreen. I'll be starting my bachelor degree in Computer Science, by the way.

I’m going to start my Bachelor studies in Computer Science soon at the ETH and also need to buy a new laptop for BYOD since my current one broke. So I wanted to ask if you guys recommend Windows or Mac for the Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science.

I see a lot of people pronounce the word as istīfā. But shouldn’t it be pronounced approximately as istēfā or iste’fā considering that the zer is usually pronounced as an E sound before an ain (e.g. in the word “استعمال”)?

I went onto the Internet Archive (https://web.archive.org/web/20051107021723/http://www.cibavision.com/products/contact\_lenses/focus\_night\_day.shtml) and found this info page about the Focus Night & Day contact lenses (discontinued in 2009) by CIBA Vision (now Alcon). I was kind of astonished by how they used to advertise these sleep-in contact lenses back then. As if it's perfectly fine to wear them 30 days in a row (and presumably also shower in them unless you only shower once a month?). Nowadays even with contact lenses approved for being slept in, they recommend every single patient to remove them before sleeping. It just goes to show how much we have learned about the eye and contact lenses since then.
