I got another TV

That makes my fourth CRT, and this is a kind I've been looking for for a good price for a while, so I was glad to get it for 7.50. it was 21 for everything in the third photo, though that grey camera had really bad corrosion, and when I pulled the batteries out the contacts broke off. (That film expired 26 years ago, the disposable camera 16)

Today's haul

I had a doctor's appointment today, so me and my mom went to some new game stores in that area, since it's like an hour away and we don't normally go there. The ship was the first thing I bought, and I was really excited to find one at a good price, since I love that game and hate that that ship is like the only way to get that type of weapon. I had literally no plans to keep it closed, I opened it imidetly after I took the picture, no hesitation

I got lucky I guess?

So I went to an estate sale today, because I wanted an old TV (didn't get it, not important). It was a fill-a-bag sale, so I was grabbing a few old cookbooks when I see this on the floor in one of bedrooms, so I pick it up and toss it in the bag because I've never seen something like it and I thought with the name that it was a little joke book or something. A few hours later I finally decided to look it up, so I use Google lens (is that what it's called?) and was just kinda shocked it was worth like 300 dollars.

My neighbor went to a radio show and got me a box of 78s

So for a bit of context, my neighbor is an older fellow (70) and he collects radios, so sometimes he goes radio shows. We met earlier this summer and he helped me fix a radio and my reel to reel player, then I offered some help with his pachinko machine that has a wonky screen, and overall we bounce interests off each other (it's nice for me to have someone older that knows the skills I'm trying to learn). Anyway, he said at the end there were three boxes of 78s, a guy got two of them, and he got the last one (which is what's in the picture, this was all in one box originally). Anyway it's like 70 pounds of albums and singles, lots of pre WW2 I believe, I haven't looked through all of it yet, but I am very happy.

My birthday present (not the game, this is just a good picture I have)

I FREAKING LOVE MY GIRLFRIEND, she gave me her dad's old NES with Mario/Duck Hunt and a PS2 slim (I already have a PS2 fat so being able to hold them side by side is just a magical experience, really let's you imagine what people were thinking when the slim was released). So far I've cleaned one of the NES controllers and the NES itself (I thought it had a power problem, turns out six volts is not enough to power it, which is the brick she accidentally gave me), and just today I cleaned the PS2 slim because I felt like it was really warm for how I only played it like 30 minutes (like it felt hot, not regular warm, like MacBook hot). I FREAKING LOVE THESE GIFTS. My birthday was on the first, I just didn't post because I was on vacation (also I had to fix the PS2 cable, but I only had a set of crimps, so I think I did pretty good and I'm proud of myself)

Email thingy I got from goodwill

It works perfectly fine (yay) but I can't test it because I don't have a dialup number (aww) and I don't wanna use the only Ethernet cable we have, which is like 100 feet long. It came with a cable, but it's a phone line

Everything I got today for $8.25

For >10 dollars, I think this was a great haul, especially with that Weezer tape being so valuable. Most of the cost was in the movies, because they were 3 dollars a reel (though I think I'm missing a few minutes from the Andy Panda one, and I don't have a 16mm projector yet)

Crazy deal I got

I was going to estate sales today when I saw this S-VHS player for 5 dollars. Since it was the half price day, it was only 2.50! I plugged it in and putting a tape in it fixed the door. There's a squeak when playing, and I haven't plugged it in to see if it plays tapes alright. Also from that sale I got this Zippo for 2 dollars, because I thought it looked cool.

New shelf acquired

I got this shelf today at garage sales to hold my intellivision games, and decided to put some of my books on the self. The largest book is the oldest thing I own, and it's from 1889

Portrait and photographical album of Jo Daviess county, 1889

Hello, I just wanted to share this book I found with you guys. It's an book about governors of Jo Daviess county, which I do not live in, but I live very close to. It was purchased from a donation sale, and unfortunately the spine has seen better days, but other than that splitting off, the binding string isn't broken in any places that I could see. I normally stick to music for my collection, but this is a fun addition to my small library I've made myself.

Guys, what do I do with my 45rpms?

So for a while I've many many 45s (more than any sane person should). I've had them close to a year now, maybe two, and I just don't know what to do with them. I'm currently not able to sell them online, and when we have garage sales no one cares to buy them (and they stick out among everything else for sale). I don't want to just like, throw them away, and I'm not a fan of making art out of them. Most are loose in boxes, so they aren't in the best condition, though I do have an entire suitcase full with ones that do have paper sleeves. The crazy part is that they range the "history" of the format (I've found ones as early as the 50s and as late 1993). Cataloging them in something like Discogs is my main-ish goal, but I don't know how to store them easily (and it'll absolutely bloat my estimated value and number). I know this is a long ramble, and I'm sorry about that, but any help with this very specific problem will be greatly appreciated.

I bought expired Polaroid film (spoiler: nothing happened)

This is my second time trying this, the first time was with a pack that was 40 year old. Nothing happened at all with that one, because the battery was bad, but the battery on this pack wasn't, because it's only 20 years old! Unfortunately, the developer was dried to a powder, so the photos aren't gonna be able to develop. On the bright side, I know both my 600 cameras work!

I just found an insane game in the box of intellivision games I got today

I was just casually looking through these games on call with a friend when I saw the copyright and thought "huh, that can't be right, that's far too new." So I decided to look it up and OH MY GOD!!

Flea market haul!

The packs of cards were 2 dollars each, and the guy selling them was really chill (I don't think I got anything valuable) and then the copy of Sim City 4 is missing disk two, but I'm overall happy with my purchases

Today's pickups

It was like $3.50 for all four, and I thought a dollar for the Gone With The Wind was a fine deal

Hi guys. I stumbled across your subreddit here, and I thought you know, maybe I should share my small little cookbook collection. I'm a big fan of estate sales and Tasting History, so what started as some newspaper clippings from free bins at garage sales turned into cookbooks when I saw that Betty Crocker binder cookbook and needed to get five books for a discount at a sale. Then the rest (excluding the 1000 Pillsbury, best of all days, and newspaper) were bought at the same sale a few days ago

The TV was 15 dollars (which might be a lot given my main CRT was free, but it was still less then the day one price of 50 dollars) and it works pretty alright. The VHF knob is worn smooth and has a piece of paper jammed into it to the thing can actually change channels, and it needed a little adjustment, but otherwise it seems perfectly functional. The cookbooks are less cool, but they tickle my fancy and I like buying them (Tasting History is probably the reason)
