Looking for UK Masters packing/product recommendations — what should I buy from India?

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to move to the UK for my Master’s in the September intake, and I’m currently making a list of things I should buy from India before leaving.

For some items, I’m thinking of making a one-time investment in good-quality products rather than buying something cheap and replacing it later. Since I’ll be using these for a long time, I’d really appreciate recommendations from people who are already in the UK or have recently moved there.

The main things I’m confused about are:

  1. Universal travel adapter – Which brand/model is actually reliable for long-term use?
  2. Universal extension board/wire – Any good one you would recommend for UK use?
  3. Shoes – What type/brand should I buy from India? Should I invest in a good pair of walking/running shoes, formal shoes, waterproof shoes, etc.?
  4. Earphones/audio – I’m confused between:
    • Wired earphones
    • TWS/AirPods-type earbuds
    • Over-ear headphones Which would be the most practical for a student in the UK?

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest options. I’m okay with spending a little more if the product is genuinely good and will last.

Also, if there are any other things you strongly recommend buying from India before coming to the UK, please let me know. Things that are either significantly cheaper in India, difficult to find initially in the UK, or simply useful during the first few months would be especially helpful.

Would really appreciate recommendations based on your actual experience rather than just brand popularity.

Thanks in advance! 🙌

Best phone under ₹50k for moving to London?

Hey guys, I’m moving to London soon for my Master’s and I’m looking to buy a new phone before I leave.

My budget is around ₹50,000.

Currently considering:

Samsung S25 FE

OnePlus 13R

Pixel 9a

Samsung A56

I want something I can comfortably use for 3–4+ years — good battery, camera, performance, software updates and reliable 5G in the UK.

Which one would you choose around ₹50k, and why? Also open to other suggestions I may have missed.

Is anyone here from Teesside University or Luxembourg?

I have a few probably childish questions about studying and student life, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could spare a few minutes to answer them. Any honest advice would mean a lot. Thanks!

Coming to the UK this September for my Master's – Looking for Honest Advice from Current Students/Graduates

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student from India, and I'll be coming to the UK for the September intake to pursue my Master's. I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who are currently studying in the UK or have already graduated.

I have a few questions:

  1. Looking back, do you think choosing the UK was the right decision? Would you recommend it?

  2. What skills should I learn before coming to the UK to improve my chances of getting a part-time job or future full-time job? (For example: Excel, customer service, barista skills, IT skills, etc.)

  3. My first semester tuition fee is already arranged, but I'll have to pay the remaining tuition fees myself. Is it realistically possible to manage living expenses and save enough for tuition by working the allowed 20 hours per week during term time?

  4. Approximately how much can a student earn per month working 20 hours a week, and is it enough to cover rent, food, transport, and other daily expenses?

  5. What are the most important things I should bring from India before moving to the UK?

  6. Are there any mistakes you made that I should avoid, or any advice you wish someone had given you before you arrived?

I'm not looking for sugar-coated answers—I just want honest experiences, whether positive or negative, so I can prepare myself properly.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to reply. Your advice will really help me. 😊

🚧 Is NEBOSH Worth It for Safety Officer Jobs in Gulf Countries?

Hi everyone, I've been hearing a lot about the NEBOSH certification for Safety Officer/HSE careers, especially in Gulf countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. I would like to know more about it from people who have actually completed the certification or are working in the field. Some questions I have: Is NEBOSH really required for Safety Officer jobs in the Gulf? Which NEBOSH certification is most valuable for beginners? What are the course fees and exam costs? How difficult is the exam? What salary can a fresher expect after getting certified? Are there any better alternatives to NEBOSH? I would appreciate any advice, experiences, or career guidance from professionals working in health and safety. Thanks in advance! 🙏

📚 Looking for CCNA Recorded Classes (Can't Afford Paid Coaching Right Now)

Hey everyone,

I'm currently learning CCNA and I'm very serious about building my networking skills and preparing for the certification. Unfortunately, I can't afford expensive coaching classes or paid courses at the moment.

Many coaching institutes provide recorded CCNA video lectures to their students. If anyone has old recorded classes, study materials, notes, or knows of any free resources that cover the complete CCNA syllabus, I would really appreciate your help.

I'm not looking for anything illegal or pirated. Even recommendations for free YouTube playlists, free training platforms, or affordable alternatives would be amazing.

Thank you for your support! ❤️

🙏 Future Network Engineer in the making.
