Starlink installed on first UA 777

Looks like N37018 (in maintenance in Rio, GIG) just got Starlink ... not back in service yet but should be soon? Im pleasantly surprised ... didn't expect them to start Starlink installs on the widebodies until after the summer travel rush. Great to start replacing the Panasonic WiFi that barely works anymore ...

Got the call - 1st Rolex - 40th birthday

Love it. ~9 months on the waiting list at the local AD (first purchase from them). Previously offered same watch but with Oyster bracelet, decided to wait for Jubilee a bit longer. Absolutely worth it.

inair.online — Find flights likely to have Starlink! (in 🇺🇸 for now)

I was pretty blown away after taking a few flights with Starlink in-flight internet, so much faster and more consistent than older wifi systems. So I built a tool to predict which upcoming flights (including flights months away) are likely to have Starlink!

For flights in next ~48 hours (in the 🇺🇸 to start), it shows whether the specific assigned plane has Starlink. For flights further out, it shows *likelihood* of Starlink based on airline, aircraft type, and predicted rate of installs.

There are somewhat similar tools out there; what's different about inair.online:

  • Data quality: Starlink installs are happening *daily* at this point ... I built some tools to keep fleet data fresh (e.g., tracking when planes return to commercial service after a maintenance interval).
  • Future predictions: The Starlink landscape is changing fast so the app predicts install rates forward to help you decide what flights to book, rather than just showing whether the flight you're about to take has Starlink.
    • Example: Southwest Airlines has 0 planes with Starlink so far, but launches this summer. For flights in the fall, the tool shows that Southwest flights have a *chance* of Starlink while a Delta flight on the same route will definitely not have it.

A lot of routes will still show no chance of Starlink but that is changing, and in particular routes where United and Alaska are competing often have some good options (e.g., search upcoming flights between LAX & Seattle: https://inair.online/LAX-SEA/2026-07-04 ).

Feedback is appreciated! Building this during a career sabbatical and really enjoying getting back into coding.

Note the tool *only* covers US airlines so far (United, Southwest, Alaska, etc -- see full fleet overview at inair.online/airline). It should work for any commercial route in the US (including Puerto Rico, Guam, etc). I'll be expanding this to Canada soon (WestJet has a lot of planes with Starlink, Air Canada has a few) and then to more countries if I get enough interest!
