This is horrible, poor families losing probably the sole breadowner due to quarry owner ignorance.

Being born as dalit or tribal, especially in rural India is biggest curse one can inherit in this country

To start with, I belong to a privileged community on both sides as my parents did ICM.

Magnitude of horrible things I have seen in native place from my mom's side in village of Karnataka is absolutely sickening. They are poured water from above, not allowed in temples many a times, dominant castes hate them and get jealous for sitting on same table. I often imagine what goes in mind of a dalit kid brought up in such setting. Kids who grow up and achieve things are often ridiculed in village for using reservation. Data sets on various socioeconomic things is pretty clear. Least obvious thing a dominant/UC caste individual can do is be empathetic and admit society is screwed.

I feel happy whenever I see kid from marginalised community achieve greater things, it's a ray of hope. I hope these communities achieve greater economic success. That's the only way to change status quo in this country.

Why is the concept of being a "pure vegetarian" so prominent in India whereas most other countries simply distinguish between vegetarians and non-vegetarians?

Gujarat has nearly the same population as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, yet it recieves more than twice of them in annual railway budgets.

Note: Karnataka contributes more to national pool than Gujarat in income, corporate and indirect taxes and also has higher GDP contribution.

Let's discuss this in a healthier manner.

Why are people reacting much about nativity criteria being applied for Gruhajyoti scheme without understanding nuances?

I agree we all pay taxes. Despite paying tax, I don't get to avail scholarship, social security schemes, fee reimbursements in many states without having a nativity card, which can be voter id or a state specific card.

I don't get to buy land or other kind of properties in some states stating native protection rights.

In case of this scheme, if I'm not wrong, only voter id is required to avail the scheme. Is it too difficult to do that?

We live in an independent house in Old Bengaluru and our house consumption is nowhere near to ever avail the scheme ( not that we want to), but we see many top percentile income payers on internet being sad about not being eligible for the scheme.

Agree or not, every state has preference for its own people and to join the natives, the criteras are pretty easy as of now. Some states have special rights.

Why are there no advanced economies among Islamic nations?

Here's a list of advanced economies and most of them are Christian or atheist. Christian countries in list are largely secular in practice.

There are high income Islamic countries in Middle East but they are not considered advanced due to lack of economic diversification, institutional development, sustainable productivity, human capital and innovation compared to advanced economy.

Is there any reason to this?

Source: IMF's list of advanced economies.
