Sadly missing his glasses. $10!
I recently bought a Thinkbook 14s-IWL from eBay. The laptop refuses to charge even though the battery reports good, cells have 15v and battery shows in the 70%s health wise. I have tried resetting the bms and blah blah blah. No battery avaliable. soo...plan B.
Amazon sells a "USB-C Female Input to Slim Tip Rectangle Power PD Charge Converter for Thinkpad Series" for $10
I have avaliable:
My hope is to give up on the oon walmart 12n1 charger 19v 3.42A (64.98w) I bought after realizing the usbc on the laptop wasn't a PD port. And start using the USBC Female to Slimtip to hopefully "upgrade" the Thinkbook to usbc charging and maybe even give the internal battery a second chance at coming back to life. Worst case scenario I can hopefully use the Cuktech Battery pack to make the laptop at least partually portable again. The usbc adapter uses a resistor to ask the PD to output at 20V and at whatever Amps avaliable. I know the discrete GPU will be unavailable under the battery pack useage because it can only push 45w but I think still usable for whatever i can make use of under the HD 620 GPU. I mean the CPU is a 8265U so it doesnt exactly gulp power anyways. Balanced mode should be ok for travel and I am hoping the NANO II can keep up with "Desktop" mode. should do considering the laptop pulls 65w at 20v 3.25a max anyways. Its only a little baby 540x 2gb discrete GPU. Anyways this has been my current fiddle hobby. My linux macbook air is great for checking emails and youtubes but I want a little more power when traveling. I think its worth the $10 to tinker. Thoughts?
