Accidentally listed 5 tickets when I only own 2 — what happens if I can’t fulfill the orders?
I need some advice because I’m in a really difficult situation with StubHub/Viagogo.
I only own 2 tickets, but I somehow ended up with 5 tickets listed, and unfortunately all 5 sold.
While using the Japanese StubHub site, I kept getting messages saying that my tickets would not sell at the current price and that I should lower the price. I thought I was simply changing the price of my existing listing, but apparently each time I went through the process, a completely new listing was created.
By the time I realized what had happened, all 5 tickets had already sold.
I have already contacted customer service and explained the situation, but they keep telling me that I am responsible for fulfilling the sales or paying the penalty. I understand that I should have checked more carefully, but I genuinely believe the website flow was extremely confusing and that this was an honest mistake, not an attempt to deceive anyone.
Has anyone successfully disputed something like this, especially when duplicate listings were created by mistake?
Also, if I cannot fulfill the extra 3 tickets and continue disputing the charges, what actually happens after the event date passes?
Will StubHub/Viagogo automatically charge my card?
If the charge fails, will they email me and demand payment?
Will they simply suspend or permanently ban my account?
Can they send the debt to a collection agency or take further action?
I’m especially interested in hearing from someone who has personally been through this situation. Any advice would be appreciated.
