guys im really confused

so basically i wont get into med this year coz bad ucat and i absolutely love science so i will def be trying for all the pathways in my reach to get in. thats fine and all except for the fact IM SO CONFUSED what degree to do in the meantime. i was thinking commerce simply coz its easy to get a good gpa so better chance of postgrad but im scared im going to find it super boring and not as stimulating as a science degree.

but im not interested in allied health coz you cant really progress all that much like its very stagnant yk. so what would i even do with a science degree if i choose to pursue it.

any advice im so confused

any potential words of wisdom?

hey guys i flopped my ucat this year and my atars not looking like a 99 (although i am aiming for as high as possible, and hopefully at leasat a 98 is in the stars). i really want to be a doctor, and not for prestige like i genuinely wnat to be one. however, i think my overall mindset is just not built for a doctor yet, ive stressed out too much about grades, letting it define me, and i know ultimately that has been my downfall. i want to try again next year, try for those unis who take uni kids into undergrad. im thinking of doing a bachelor of commerce next year, knowing that in reality med might never happen and i need a soldi career path. anyone whos gotten in taking a similar route? gamsat? how does life change over time, will i be better equipped for high pressure exams next year? any thing would help thanks

gang can someone mark my essay (harshly)

Argument analysis 2016 paper

revised in comments

Catalysed by the recent closure of a railway line, debate has been sparked in the local community about the potential repurposing of this land. In an opinion piece for the local newsletter, the leader of Grow Slow passionately contends the community should support Grow Slow to create a local garden in order to create a better quality of life for the community. He implores policymakers, parents and environmentally minded residents to trust in their proposal, as it is a proven, worldwide tradition that will guarantee a plethora of benefits.

The author firstly begins by contextualising the dire necessity of a community garden, claiming it as a means to reap the benefits of a world-famous tradition. He firstly challenges that the land is currently "good for rats, snakes and those few antisocial citizens [who]... dump rubbish illegally". By reducing these citizens to such pests and connotating to unnecessary pests, "rats" and "snakes", representing deceptive and dangerous creatures, a sense of guilt is elicited in citizens who litter. In doing so, he positions them to be more receptive to the garden solution as a means to become morally responsible.Compounding upon this, in order to portray the garden as a trustworthy solution, the author references World War II, reflecting upon how vulnerable society became before the "Dig for Victory" campaign was established. By establishing its use in such a violent time, opponents to the proposal are positioned to feel [you later changed this to "concerned about/unsure of their safety"], sparking a sense of uncertainty regarding their current food security. This is coupled with the political poster, titled "Dig for Their Sake", depicting innocent children pleadingly staring at the viewer. Opponents, especially parents and carers, are made to feel pressured, as denying the garden proposal has been subtly linked to compromising children's safety. Parents are manipulated into believing that growing a garden is intrinsically linked to their children's welfare, just as it was in times of dire crises in the World War. Thus, an appeal to guilt, both to litterers and parents who are opposed to the community garden, is crafted, framing the initiative as the only means of achieving safety and morality.

By first establishing its worth as a practical solution to achieving security, the author then reveals its ability to reduce both economic and environmental waste. The author logically explains in a measured tone, appealing to logic when claiming that "slow food is less likely to be tossed out". Coupled with a direct comparison to the cost of processed food wasted each year, the graph provides concrete evidence that positions the economically minded audience to quantify the drastic loss occurring as a result of current practices. Thus, the community garden appeals to the financial interests of community members. In doing so, audiences looking to save money will believe that supporting the community garden will not only benefit society overall but also will be an economically wise decision. After presenting such evidence of the wasteful trends, the leader of Grow Slow resolutely claims that "this is unsustainable", confirming the fears of community members and thus implying that both the Grow Slow group and the extended community share common beliefs. This frames the garden solution as an agreeable and necessary solution for the betterment of all members.

Finally, the leader of Grow Slow shifts the argument toward maintaining an inclusive community through creating a community garden. The author uses a personal anecdote of gardening with "Dad or Grandpa", reminiscing on the "satisfaction of the harvest". This diminishes the sense of authority that had been created initially and portrays the author as simply another member of the community. By portraying herself as relatable, community members with similar cherished experiences may feel understood, leading them to believe that the garden will be planted in their best interests. The author employs a more friendly tone, claiming that "community gardening is for everyone", hence allowing all community members to feel included. This establishes a sense of hope, especially for those who may not feel they fit into the community, that the community garden will strengthen community bonds by removing all "barriers" to participation. Thus, when the author claims they "urge" the council to accept the garden proposal, the community-minded audience will feel confident that this step will provide undiscriminating benefits to all.
