Would you say my flat mate is being a bit narrowed minded here in my national football support choice ?

I support both England & Nigeria in the football.

England for the World Cup & Euros and Nigeria for AFCON.

My mate (He’s South African) is saying I should only pick 1 National football team to support and not 2!

Just a bit of a story into my life development:

I got Nigerian Parents.

I was born & raised in London mostly till age 13 (short stint in Nigeria from age 2-4/2-5)

I then resided in Nigeria from age 13-21.

I came back to London at age 21. I’ve been back in London for 9 years now

Gordon is lowkey the 2nd most important English player after Bellingham

Gordon is lowkey the 2nd most important English player after Bellingham

I say this as he’s got 8 goal contributions (5 assists & 3 goals) in his last 6 games.

Remember these were against Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Dr Congo & Norway in that run! Top quality opposition!

He’s really stepped up since that Barcelona move!

It’s not a coincidence that 2 of the English best players are playing in Spain.

I am a Londoner & support the team that represents my city but not the closest team to my postcode

I feel it’s a bit different with London since they are so many teams!

I feel that it’s ok for a Londoner to support any team in the city as it’s still represents their hometown club

I was born in West London, grew up in South London. My old man supports Chelsea and I ended up supporting them.

Anyone agree? 👀

Black Brits, do you feel English is a nationality or an ethnicity or both?

I believe English is a nationality & ethnicity but it’s used more to emphasise ethnicity!

I’ve always felt British ties more a dual identity experience. It connects my living experience in Britain with my family heritage!

If people want to call me English, I know they are emphasising the national identity aspect because I was born in England but i prefer to call myself a British Nigerian!

Interesting but would love to hear your thoughts.

Black Brits, do you connect or struggle to connect with the England National Football team?

So I’m a born & bred Londoner of full Nigerian descent.

I support England, but I understand why some might struggle supporting due to the history & sometimes Black British born individuals feeling like they are being excluded due to racist incidents

I wear the England shirt & feel we shouldn’t allow the right wing sector to steal it away from everyone!

At the end of the day , we are represented on the team when you see guys like Saka, Eze, Mainoo, Bellingham, GUELHI etc

What got you into supporting your football clubs?

I support Chelsea mainly due to my Dad.

I got the geographical roots cause I was born & still live in London but I attribute my support mainly to my family.

Which nation would you say I am from based on my life story? England or Nigeria?

I got Nigerian Parents.

I was born & raised in London mostly till age 13 (short stint in Nigeria from age 2-4/2-5)

I then resided in Nigeria from age 13-21.

I came back to London at age 21. I’ve been back in London for 9 years now.

I personally feel both a connection to both England & Nigeria, but curious to see what people think 😅

Would you rather your club wins the league 3 times in a row or your country wins the World Cup? You can only pick 1!

I am from England & support Chelsea.

Personally from my end, it’s a tough one! I’m slightly leaning towards Chelsea winning the Prem 3 times in a row. That would be generational.

The last time I saw Chelsea do it back to back, I was a kid so couldn’t process the moment properly.

On the other hand, England winning the World Cup will spark huge celebrations around the country.

I pick Chelsea wins the league 3 times in a row 😁
