Fans became loud, can't figure out the cause
Hello.
I have a PC built in 2015 that recently started making noise from (I suppose) one of its fans.
In the beginning, the noise was just at startup for like 5 minutes, then it stopped. Not annoying at all, so I thought it could have been some dust and maybe better give it a cleaning, so I bought a pressurized air can and sprayed the fans. Surprisingly, there was only a minimal amount of dust (I never cleaned it before, since 2015).
But now the noise is persistent and it's driving me mad. I checked isnide with a flashlight to see if there was anything inside the fans, but I can't see nothing out of the ordinary. The fans screws seems all solid, they don't move.
CPU temperature is about 40°C normally, and around 50°C when gaming.
This is almost surely a fan problem, so I have two questions:
- Is it possible that the noise comes from a different piece of hardware (ie. the GPU)?
- Is there some simple software that allow a selective turn off of fans (to identify the correct one)? I did a quick search but found nothing of the sort
Any answer or any other tip greatly apreciated! I can also upload a small video of the case with the noise, if needed.
