To the person wondering if they're "too late" for college...

I wish someone had told me that there is no perfect timeline.

When I first started college, I thought everyone else had it figured out. I saw people graduating on time, getting internships, landing jobs, and moving forward while I felt stuck. Life happened. Financial struggles happened. Family responsibilities happened. Unexpected setbacks happened.

What I didn't realize was that so many college students are carrying invisible burdens.

If you're taking longer than expected to finish your degree, that's okay.

If you had to take a break from school, that's okay.

If you're working, raising kids, caring for family, or dealing with things that make school harder, that's okay.

Progress is still progress, even when it doesn't look like everyone else's.

The biggest lesson I've learned is that completing your degree is not a race. It doesn't matter if it takes you 4 years, 6 years, or longer. The finish line is still there.

Keep showing up. Complete the assignment. Take the next class. Ask for help when you need it. Small steps add up.

One day you'll look back and realize that all those moments when you felt behind were actually moments when you were building resilience, determination, and perseverance.

I wish someone had told me that success isn't about how quickly you get there. It's about refusing to quit.

If you're struggling right now, keep going. You're probably doing better than you think.

Update: Nearing 1 year post graduation - Still cant get a job

Just posting an update from my last thread. Will be 2 years in April, 2027. Edit: Original post, https://old.reddit.com/r/WGU/comments/1ryzy3y/nearing_1_year_post_graduation_still_cant_get_a/

lots of positivity in this subreddit, which is great don't get me wrong;however, my experience has been anything but positive.

Did I learn tons of new skills from getting my degree, sure. None of it matter if I cant afford to live.

I'm probably about 500 applications deeper than when I made the first post. That not might seem like a lot to many, but these were all tailored made resumes utilizing reactive resume utilizing MCP with my projects, certs, and past resume experience, for real translatable experience.

My recent interviews within the past 3 months are as follows, internship with a healthcare insurance company (I have 8 years of clinical experience, rejected), ERP specialist (in the middle of nowhere, for a small company that makes metal stamping), and not recently an entry level help desk role (international manufacturing company, they wanted an associates). All rejections.

I'm only not homeless because of family support, and staying afloat from handyman jobs, but the situation is starting to get dire.

This is full transparency mode, people need to see the other side of the spectrum against all the positivity because, yes, your results may vary.

Edit: not looking for advice, especially from people that clearly didn't read. Like I said, this post is mainly to get the other perspective out there. All these one off post about, " I just got a 100,000$, with no experience." Really it's for people out there that are in a similar position, but not as long as me.

You are good enough, and it's not you.
