Fellow men, how wrong is it to lie lightheartedly about ‘ball and chain’ humor?

I’m a dumb dumb and I don’t know why I do it, but occasionally I’ll say things like “need to lose this belly fat or I’ll never hear the end of it from the wife”, or “can’t tonight boys the wife says no”.

These are lies. She said no such things not even close. She’s amazingly supportive, like she tells me to take care of myself at my own pace, and spend time with the boys whenever I want. I can’t give you a good reason for saying these things.

I told her I do this, and she got very upset with me. She suggested I should just make jokes about how amazing she is instead but that doesn’t work.

I know it’s not good, but how bad is this foolishness?

Edit: Our relationship is a forged by fire type thing where we helped each other overcome hardship, and I say so many good things about her to people that I cringe at it. These jokes/lies have happened under a handful of times.

50os+ players don’t know how to play 99.9% the game

BAR ratings reward specialisation in such an extreme manner. 200+ maps, the largest unit roster of any rts and somehow the elite of the elite know one/two spots on one map which they open with 2-3 styles (thugs/centurion etc).

If you catch an 60os outside his usual spot do not fear them. You’ll be just fine.

CMV: China is no longer rising, it has risen as a superpower

Qualifier: this argument is not that China is an unopposed superpower, nor that it is 1:1 with the US.

The most basic argument that China is a superpower now, is that the number 3 power in the world is leagues and leagues behind China in global power (economic/military/geopolitical influence)

In more concrete terms, China has leapfrogged ahead in many domains that barely existed 20 years ago.

  1. It has a powerful economy, being the main trade partner of almost every country thanks to the juggernaut manufacturing sector.
  2. It has a modern world class military that only the US could threaten. A vibrant RnD-Military pipeline is churning out new platforms at a staggering rate, that unlike in Russia is being tested vigorously and produced at scale (300+ stealth fighters now)
  3. More nascent yet absolutely rising: it is beginning to cement cultural influence. TikTok’s, Xinfluencers, the image of the “predictable superpower” is gaining ground. Vietnamese youth now admire the Chinese military etc.
  4. BYD, solar panel dominance and world class universities show us that China is no longer a copycat engine. They are harnessing the innovative potential of their people, even if it isn’t to scale with the US

If the USSR was a superpower, then China as superpower is leagues more powerful, even if the US still carries favor from their unipolar moment.
