It’s pretty obvious Insomniac will probably go toward lighthearted Marvel heroes in the future,including more Spider-Man games. This will sadly be the last Wolverine game,possibly indefinitely,that is if Insomniac doesn’t give this one DLC. Some of the hate may have been justified,but a lot of it wasn’t!

My rating for the game is a 9/10.

I wasn’t really happy with my ranking. Just know if a skin you loved is below the list,something had to go toward the bottom.

The Worst suits

16. LOTDK Jumpsuit Joker- just a standard prison suit,though the detail is nice.

17. BTAS Christmas Joker- something you’ll switch to when playing at Christmas time.

18. Batman Beyond Joker- Lacking the red eyes and that was a big thing as the design in “Return of The Joker”,was an even superior redesign of the Joker in the earlier seasons of BTAS.

I really had fun and still have fun with this DLC. Harley has a bit of a learning curve,as she’s more weighty with her hammer and is more a close range shooter with her glitter shotgun. She can use her hyenas to stun enemies,akin to Catwoman’s cats.

Joker is more agile with his paint gun,and the bang gag can be slow coming out,so I suggest to switch to the punch glove till the paint gun’s cool down is over.

“Thoughts of Negative Reviews”

I think we live in a very miserable world where everyone wants to complain about everything,and unfortunately LOTDK got caught up in that crossfire. I wasn’t expecting a full blown campaign from Mayhem Mode,and what we got is just as good.

People initially complained there’s not much to do in Amusement Mile,and so here it is. You get a really fun Arcade/Roguelite game that you can mess around in while you buy skins and permanent upgrades.

It won’t be for everyone,but it’s better than previous games DLC that was only one level each.
I do wish we could explore through Gotham like the main game,but it’s still a very fun side game I can play,when I get bored of the main game.

The Absolute Best of the Best!

1. TDKR Joker- Once I bought this I used it the most,and it’s so accurate to the graphic novel! (This is opinion based,but it’s my favorite,and there’s no preorder bonus to prevent you from getting it!)
2. “The Batman 04”Joker- The fact this is in the game at all makes it in the top. The red eyes,missing teeth and straight jacket with the purple stripes make this one of the most detailed skins. Even the belt hanging down is a nice touch.
3. “Batman 89” Joker- Truly iconic,and to me no other iteration on the big screen has been able to top Jack Nicholson’s performance. This is the true Joker in live action PERIOD!
4. “BTAS” Joker- Did you know that BTAS is an adaptation of the Burton films? It is,and yes Mark Hamill does the voice actor so well,that this Joker is as iconic as his live action counterpart.
5. “Killing Joke” Joker- Yes it’s a great comic,and if you haven’t read it,you won’t understand why this costume is so high on people’s lists. I’m not going to spoil it for you. Please read it if you ever get a chance.
6. Arkham Joker- I like they even took time to get the smile accurate from the games. Still pretty high,and like switching to him to get that full Arkham feel!
7. DCEU Joker- It’s a terrible design in live action yes,but as a LEGO this is a perfect redesign! I know how you feel he was weird in the live action,but in LEGO form this is hilarious.
8. “Injustice 2” Joker- I have to say this skin is more fun free roaming a world,instead of just fighting. Switched to it a lot,but I do like DCEU Joker a little better.
9. LOTDK Joker- I love this costume! The green shirt under the purple tie is a nice touch. Definitely a great iteration of Joker in “LOTDK”.
10. Joker 1966- If Caesar Romero wasn’t so superstitious with his career,we wouldn’t have gotten this ridiculous skin with the mustache. Still a great skin,and I’m not surprised if this is higher on people’s list. That Magenta suit is clearly a standout and it works so well with the black stripes in the pants and forest green shirt.
11. TLBM Joker- I expected this skin to be here,and I think it’s great,but there’s so many other great skins above this one. I’m sorry if you loved this one. Get used to me saying sorry,because the next few may hurt a little.

12. TDK Joker- RIP to the actor Heath Ledger,but his Joker is probably the reason we got the terrible DCEU Joker,because he is a realistic iteration of the Joker,not a live interpretation of the Joker from the comics. You’re not going to like me on the next one either.

13. TDK Joker Nurse- Iconic scene of TDK yes,and more accurate than LB3,but I don’t know it’s just not up there as the best costume to me.

14. Batman Ninja Joker- Good effort being here,but it’s looks dumb to me. Also don’t really care for the movie.

Absolute Worst of the Worst

15. Villain Awards Joker- Joker in a black tuxedo kind of bland for the Joker. Hated seeing it in “Suicide Squad 2016”,hate it here.

16. Arkham Jumpsuit Joker- It’s Joker in prison clothes,moving on.

17. Batman Beyond Joker- Poor interpretation of older Tim Drake,those red glowing eyes are iconic,as it not only defines the character,but at the time the red makeup and glowing eyes was both a new and returning design choice. At least they got his hair right this time.

18. BTAS Christmas Joker- It was an ok special,but it’s not memorable.

We all have our opinions,but LOTDK Gotham City isn’t generic either. It’s just taking on the darker approach akin to Burton’s,Nolan’s,BTAS and the Arkham games. While LDCSV is showing Neon Gotham from The Silver Age,or also in “Batman Forever(1995)” and “Batman and Robin(1997)”.

Both are very fun with LDCSV having the edge,with its diverse openworld and traditional mass roster.

He doesn’t have a Bat Family like Batman,so if this is the next official game,then this will be even more stand alone than LOTDK.

This maybe a bold claim to make after LEGO Star Wars,Harry Potter,Jurassic Park and even Batman. However LDCSV is more so an openworld playground than the other LEGO games. The world may seem small,but it’s so diverse it puts LMSH2’s openworld and roster to shame. It’s nice to have a game about the villains for a change.

The game is still fresh because of the direction at the time. Despite being an older title this game still looks good,and it is very fun to play. I had more fun completing and doing multiple replays of this game,than exploring Hogwarts and Jurassic Park. I did play LEGO Hobbit as well,but that third film DLC missing hurts the game and it feels unfinished.

Conclusion:

Compared to the other games LDCSV added a ton of DLC characters and its levels. Though only six levels,it adds to the overall gameplay,that being the golden bricks in the openworld,replayable levels,character challenges,best custom creator,and the mass roster to choose from. This not only makes this game the best LEGO DC game,but even the best LEGO superhero game PERIOD!

Also this is not Silver Age Neon Gotham. Though LDCSV did a great job making that version. Burton,Bruce Timm and Nolan’s Gotham has always remained Batman to me. Though the campy aspects are in this game,when mixing Forever’s Two Face,and B & R’s Ivy and Mr. Freeze. The game is adding the history of Batman,and those sad toy commercial movies are part of that history. They add them so well though,that the awkward moments from those movies are made very fun with the LEGO humor added.

Though again the best Gotham City openworld,with only seven characters?! However I think people overlook the quality of the game in favor of the quantity. The previous games were fun for sure,but LOTDK actually gives you a full moveset and the best combat of any LEGO game! Though Robin and Nightwing play almost alike the other five characters feel very different. The Arkham LEGO game heresay is right,when it comes to the traversal and combat. However it’s very LEGO,with the humor and openworld challenges in tact.
