Charlier cut bad habits?

I have a couple specific questions about how I'm doing my charlier cut

  1. I've noticed that once the bottom packet is far enough out, I tend to use my index finger to "flick" the top packet back so it falls into place.

  2. I actually have rather large hands, and my thumb tends to curl over the end of the bottom packet to hold onto it until it's "time" for that packet to fall back on top

Are either of those bad habits I need to correct?

Re-learning tools?

I lived in Beijing for a few years as a kid (6-9 years old). I went to a Chinese school that taught English and I was the only native English speaker, so while I learned to recognize and pronounce the characters, I never really learned what most of them meant.

I recently watched Pursuit of Jade and it reignited my desire for really learning Mandarin. What tools should I check out? I know Duolingo isn't a great tool, but fwiw a few years ago I used it and "beat" Chinese within a few weeks.

New to podcasts, I need some recs for work

Hello all! I am just getting interested in podcasts to listen to while at work. YouTube videos "in the background" don't usually stay there.

I enjoy math and economics (especially game theory, game design, and mechanism design), basketball (college and NBA), college football (but I'm willing to explore NFL), puzzles, history, and general "science-y stuff" like RadioLab (but I would need something more focused for adults. I enjoyed it when I was younger but haven't enjoyed it for years because it feels more focused for a younger audience). I'd prefer something without profanity, but if it's just profanity-light that's fine too

TIA!
