Me being me, I bought two of that collection and mixed a whole set of 5 tertiary colors...because Jeremy needs MORE colors! Using them, I freehand blended some swirls and did a heart feature for my girl. I haven't painted in over a week because of work, and of course got sick the minute I was done with last week...but there are very few people I'd come out of my coma for, and that's my babe.

It's a new season of Drag Race All Stars 11(LORD do I feel old) and they are back with the color coded tournament brackets. Of course I love a good color branded theme so the orange pink and purple inspired a gradient! I should have done checkers on it...but gurl, I'm in the middle of concert week at school...14+ hour days until Sunday. You're lucky you're seeing me AT ALL. Enjoy this eye searing gradient that the camera didn't know what to do with 😘

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this, but I've wanted to reserve some of my painting time for skittle manis. I started out doing skittles because, if you know me it will be no surprise to you that I couldn't pick just one color or polish...so why not all!? Time for "Sunday Skittles"!

Spring has truly sprung here on the east coast, and pla is are getting their early BLOOM on. I love the colors of hydrangeas, and I also love how you can change them soil chemistry. Want deep blue or indigo blooms? More acidic soil will do that. Want vibrant and deep fuchsia? Get your soil more neutral to mildly alkaline. Most soil will be somewhere between, giving you light shades and mixed hues. Stunning! Also...but hydrangeas take water into their flowers more efficiently as well as plug their stems when cut, so if you've got wilting cut hydrangeas, submerge them in a bowl of water and those fuckers will perk back up! I wanted a mixed formula skittle for this one, and went with more of the cool "acidic" tones. Crashing Out was one of the only flakies I hadn't used yet from that collection and its pink and purple flakies were the perfect mix for the flowers, while the soft pearl from Punkish and the shine from the glitter helped bring out the lighter tones. This green shimmer in a cooler deeper base was the perfect "leaf" foil for the flowers and LOVE how it came out. I was going to pose with the flowers I got for my mom today...but I went with PINK hydrangeas...so there goes that 🤪

It's Star Wars day, May the Fourth be with you! For me, the binary sunset on Tatooine is one of the most iconic shots of Star Wars. They use it as a closing or opening shot enough its even deemed a trope, and I love it. It also was the home to one of the most iconic musical themes of the entire universe by John Williams. I also noticed, whether due to it having two suns, or some other sci fi excuse haha, but the colors of a binary sunset were backwards....with the warmer tones above and the cooler below...but either way she's still gorgeous!

Sometimes a skittle will be inspired by something in real life, sometimes it's based on color family or shared formula. Sometimes its nothing but a vibe. 🤷‍♂️ I started pulling polishes and stacking them up next to each other and ended up living for this aquatic blue vibe with a "fuck you" of neon chartreuse. It's giving speedo, jetski, or pool deck tiles and I'm here for it. Never Tide Down will always be a favorite polish of mine, same woth Electric Daisy, and how can you go wrong with a rich cobalt and a delightful aqua? Exactly. You can't.  Toss them together, slap this on a speedo, and we're good to go! 🤪

I've said it a million times......I LOVE DATA. Give me a good sheet full of data points to format and analyze and I'll be set for DAYS. After the past few years of doing recaps, I've always wanted data behind it...so this is the year!

Where did April go? Came in with spring break...ends with the busiest time of my school year. I still managed to enjoy 20 manis this month which was a surprise seeing how crazy everything is. @tylerstrinketny had a big month of use for me...I wonder why 😜. It also saw a favorite large brand descend down the AI hole and a Ba Sing Se style of customer service that put them right into the *do not support* category.  Blue had a HUGE month, why? No clue haha. Maybe it had to do with the excitement of the Artemis flight and NASA nails or I was just feeling it. May is my big month, the next two weeks I won't have much time to breathe let alone paint...so let's see what happens with the DATA!!!

April is Autism Acceptance month, and I was very happy to be part of this round of the Manis for Humanity collab.  With this theme, you could go in so many directions to discuss this important subject. As an educator myself, who's also married to another educator with a doctorate in special education, we are ardent supporters of special education. I have been blessed to have worked with dozens kids on the spectrum, so this one was extra important for me. Like most things, we're on a constant journey of evolution and improvement, and as we learn more and talk more, the awareness and acceptance communication strategy can evolve and change from what we once thought was correct, to something more nuanced and respectful.

Having gold represent Autism due to it's elemental symbol of AU is really cool, and I love the evolution of the spectrum being represented with a rainbow and the infinity symbol. I asked some of my students what they preferred and they all really liked using gold and hadn't heard thay one before. I obviously love a rainbow representing a spectrum.

It's Tyler's Trinkets Birthday! What can I say about Tyler... he's an absolute powerhouse business owner, polish maker, creative mind, sassy beyotch, and a great friend.  🫶  What does one paint for such a gay? Rainbows, duh. 🌈  What rainbows though? Glitter,  duh. ✨️ When we were designing my rainbow glitter topper, this boy was covered in it like a miner. If he wasn't so responsible and wore PPE, I would have probably given him glitter lung. I've done a vertical glitter gradient using his pride toppers before, but this time I decided to hate myself for the love of Tyler, and pack this shit horizonal for my boo. A little mix of sponging it on for coverage, and adding some with a brush, we got this sparkling shield gradient of rainbow glitter that I am obsessed with. My phone camera doesn't even pick up all the sparkles because it gets overloaded haha. Nothing I could give would bring him more joy on his birthday, than me having to clean this shit up 😝🌈✨️🫠
