Has anyone set up their fiserv machines yet? Curious if it’s an upgrade to our current systems. We’re supposed to receive ours tomorrow but I won’t be working so just curious if anyone has any insight on if it’s actually an improvement. The one thing I’m hoping and praying for is either touchscreen or something that’s more user friendly because if I don’t have to instruct customers how to click a button i’ll be happy 🤣
This job is wearing me out day by day. It used to be an easy enjoyable job but our new owner has made it miserable. It was very noticeable this sunday especially when usually I work with another coworker and not the owner, however we’re down to 2 total employees (3 including a new hire in training) and it’s unbearable.
I’ll usually have time to chill on sundays and sit in the back and watch stuff on my phone in between customers but today I wasn’t even able to sit down once. I’m constantly bagging amazon returns (we don’t even have a kiosk) and my owner decides he will gladly help the customers and that’s about it from him. He won’t consolidate, he won’t bag returns, and he won’t put RFID labels on any packages. He simply takes the returns and throws them on the back counter then does literally anything else. This goes for pack jobs as well and it’s killing me when my entire shift consists of helping these absolute idiots and then in between having to bag the millions of returns sitting on the back counter until another idiot walks in.
Our old owner used to have herself on the schedule for a few hours to get what she needs done and then have 2 others scheduled at the same time to handle returns and shipments but I guess our new owner wants to save on the labor as much as possible and it has driven at least 3 people to quit now (one within 1 week of being hired). Anyways thanks for coming to my weekly vent on here i’m just exhausted and needed to vent my frustrations somewhere.
Working a 12 hour shift today and I’m so exhausted and tired of this place. The people are wonderful, but the customers are just dumb as rocks.
“Yea I have this fedex package going back as a return”
“We don’t accept fedex”
“Really?? google said you do”
😐 Even ai overview doesn’t say we accept fedex packages if you look it up so i have no clue where these people get that from
Anyways a customer right after that:
“Yea I have this and it needs some tape”
“Okay that’s fine just make sure you have it all taped up next time”
“Well I don’t have any tape 😃”
Actually just blows my mind how stupid and entitled these customers are. Don’t even get me started on the idiots who try and argue with us about when they have multiple customer packed boxes under 1 qr code/label.
So for all the time i’ve worked at my store usually the first time we boot up cms and process a shipment the prices aren’t sorted from least expensive to most expensive and we usually just need to sort it once and then it stays like that for the rest of the shift. Recently it’s been making me sort every single time, is this a setting that was changed or does this happen to everyone else as well? It’s very annoying since 90% of customers doing shipments are always doing ground.
So we had a guy come in and complaining that his next day air package didn’t arrive on time. My coworker checks the tracking and it didn’t arrive on time so he goes and refunds the guy on the spot. From what I know aren’t we supposed to file a claim to get the shipment refunded to the customer? If we refunded this guy first is it still possible for the store to therefore receive the compensation for the package since we refunded him immediately? I really should have interrupted him when he agreed to refund the guy but I was in the middle of doing returns and talking on the phone at the same time 🤦♂️
So recently a guy came in and had 5 different boxes maybe like 30x9x9 or so each and he had a single 360 code for all 5. When this happens we don’t get compensated for the corresponding box right? This is the very first time i’ve seen a 360 for something that wouldn’t fit inside a poly bag. Also very annoying because once I tried explaining to him 1 label can’t be printed out 5 different times he kept pointing back at the “no box no label” bit and I can’t even blame him because literally why is that possible…
We’re unfortunately opened on sundays and literally everyone and their mother decides to come in the final 30 minutes of the store being opened, but the other 6 hours? tumbleweeds.
Very long vent incoming so be prepared
So i’ve been working for my store for a little over a year now (obviously doesn’t come close to half of you guys in this subreddit lol) but I really enjoyed the work. It wasn’t difficult and everything was pretty straightforward… until we changed owners.
Our new owner wasn’t too bad at first only little changes here and there but eventually he changed everything. We no longer use poly bags to bag customer packed returns, we keep spare amazon boxes and charge customers for poly bags, all of our clear poly bags got switched to cheaper ones that constantly stick together, the tape got changed, our printers switched to a different company and many many other things.
The worst part is how cheap he is. We basically have 1 functioning properly working scanner and the other 2 simply don’t charge/hold a charge anymore. He refuses to fix these and instead uses a temporary wired scanner that we constantly knock on the floor (probably due to break anytime soon as well). On top of all this I was forced to become a notary (not something agreed upon by my previous boss when I was hired) and then I also had to learn how to do every kind of printing. I learned banners, posters, foam boards, blueprints, etc. and after learning all that he was still hesitant to give me a $1 raise.
The cherry on top is once we switched owners we don’t even get pay stubs anymore! We can’t even see our pay or any information about wages and such other than the direct deposit hitting our accounts. This has even led to me getting paid for a single week one time instead of for the hours worked both weeks and he insisted it was a typo, but it only happened once and was corrected so I didn’t think too much of it.
What irks me the most is he refuses to hire more people and insists to work at the store 5-6 days a week himself to save money. If you work with him he will maybe come up and take a customer or two then go straight to the back to talk on the phone or watch videos on his phone while the table is filled with unbagged amazon returns and the other person suffers and is constantly standing bagging returns until another customer walks in to pile more on top of the ones already sitting there. It has already driven 2 employees to quit one who had recently started and had to quit a week later all because they were hardly getting trained and were being left up front to work alone.
On top of all this we’ve been having to deal with all the cms issues and especially today where it just wasn’t syncing and we had to ring customers up manually. I’m really starting to think about quitting because at this point our store has gone to shit but the downside is I really need the money. It’s such a shame because I love the days when I work with my competent coworkers but the bad days are terrible and it feels like our current owner cannot keep employees long-term.

We’ve been having issues with one of our scanners where it wasn’t charging for a while and we finally got it to charge but now it scans and doesn’t hit enter, anyone know of a fix for this?
How often do you guys get the cologuard boxes from customers and they haven’t followed the bold green instructions ON THE LABEL 🤦♂️ I feel like 1 out of 10 boxes I have to peel off the label used to deliver to them.
What always irks me is when amazombies come in talking on the phone and then want me to wait for them to finish their phone call before they do their returns… I understand if you’re inside the store already and you get a call because it can be an emergency but WHY are you on a call walking into a store you know you’re gonna be inside for no more than 30 seconds… either call them back or just answer and talk inside your damn car! Extremely annoying having people walk in and talk on the phone for 10 minutes especially today where some guy walked in and talked loudly on the phone as I was trying to do a shipment and both me and the customer had to repeat ourselves multiple times 🤦♂️ absolutely zero awareness and don’t even get me started on the people that walk in mid phone call trying to get a shipment done without hanging up…
I wonder what the actual cutoff for amazon returns is. I’ve had multiple people come in and it clearly says they were only able to return up until a certain date. For example if someone had a code saying return by June 2nd usually i’ll scan it and it still goes through on our end and everything. Does anyone know what the true cutoff for returns is? It’s crazy these people are able to get away with returning stuff a month past the original date.
So I’ve been at my store for around a year now and we occasionally have people sending to the IRS. Sometimes they’ll come in and just have the state/city written and no street address and we have a laminated paper showing the correct street address for the corresponding state and city, however it indicates that it’s for next day or 2 day shipping (doesn’t say anything about ground). Does the IRS not accept ground packages going to these addresses? I’ve done a couple through ground and just override the address with the correct one on the paper, just wanted some advice from others on here so that I know whether or not i’m making a mistake!
How was it for everyone? I didn’t work today, but I work tomorrow and wanna know if I should expect a whole lot of returns or if it just seemed like a normal day for everyone else.
Hi all! So I’m at a bit of a stand still when it comes to choosing a modpack. I have played plenty of major modpacks and pretty much everything on the front page of curseforge. I really like modpacks that are goal oriented/somewhat challenging. Recently I beat liminal industries and I really liked that pack, but does anyone know of any hidden gems like it? Or anything less known that has an actual decent endgame goal?
