Looking for planner recommendations for a grad student that also works full time.

— Cross posted —

Hello all! I start classes this month and my new job the first week of September but I have no planner to take me through to the end of the year and I need some recommendations that won’t break the bank, that are still available, and don’t feel too wasteful considering 2027 is only months away (looking for around $35 or less).

What I’m looking for:

A weekly spread of sorts that has enough space for me to write in due dates for assignments and priority tasks for work. (My writing is small enough that I had no issues with the day free).

Daily pages are not necessary but I’m willing to try it since I do journal on occasion

Blank pages in the back or a blank space in the weeks layout for lists.

Ideally an academic planner since it’s August and I am a teacher when I’m not in school. But I’m also in a pinch so I’ll take whatever.

Something that will fit in a medium purse.

I don’t really habit track and I don’t like wasting too much space in a planner but again, I’ll take whatever is available and affordable

I’ve been using the hobonichi days free this year because I was unemployed for a chunk of time and only needed to worry about my personal schedule. It was my first hobonichi and I love it but there is nowhere near enough pages for it to suffice once school starts.

I thought about the spring start techo but it doesn’t take me through to the end of the academic year (June), and it also appears to be unavailable everywhere. Despite this, I am willing to get a spring start weeks but I can’t find them anywhere but eBay and I just don’t trust eBay or PayPal and jetpens has been my only source since I started, and they’re sold out.

Open to any and all recommendations or solutions, hobonichi or otherwise. Thank you so much and sorry for the long post!

Looking to try a new genre or larger box games. Based on my current collection, what would you recommend?

Pictured is the entirety of my solo gaming collection (and a few puzzles). I have played and enjoy all of them except for A Gentle Rain since its new and I just haven’t yet.

As you can see I prefer smaller boxes and roll and writes, but I want to try my hand at something a little more crunchy or something outside of the verb & write genre. I really enjoy a challenge so long as it doesn’t feel impossible (witchcraft and rolling realms were a good challenge level for me), and playing rolling realms has made me think I might like a campaign of sorts. I have a good space where I can play and leave out a game if needed. I’m also a big fan of cozy games as well as rpgs and sci fi for reference.

Please let me know what y’all recommend!

First tatting project complete! I have questions and constructive feedback is absolutely appreciated!

This is my first successful creation made with size 10 thread and two shuttles. I just randomly made rings and chains before attempting this. Pattern is from a YouTube tutorial. If you see any glaring errors or wrong technique (especially around the picots) please please please point them out so I can improve!

I’m pretty pleased with this for it being my first go around but I wasn’t very confident with some of the techniques and I have a couple questions.

  1. After making a picot, do you add the second half of a double stitch again before continuing the pattern and then go to your first post picot double stitch? (I hope that makes sense)

  2. Do you tie your two threads together before you start or can you join your chaining thread when it’s time for the first chain and operate from there? I tied the threads together but I feel like it just created unnecessary bulk.

  3. Ball vs second shuttle: does it matter which route you take/ is one method considered better? I used two shuttles because I had extra thread already wound on a second shuttle but I almost ran out so I see the appeal of a ball but think it might get annoying. Idk though.

That’s all the questions I have for now and thank you in advance for any feedback or answers you can provide!

Im brand new to tatting, like I bought a kit today at the sheep and wool festival and I’ve been tatting my little heart out all afternoon. I’m definitely not new to fiber arts though, so I’ve picked up the double stitch and picot stitch without issue. Everything slides and I can make a ring. However, the nice spacious circle of thread wrapped around my left hand that I put the shuttle through keeps getting smaller and smaller with every stitch to the point where the shuttle doesn’t fit anymore after about 6-8 stitches. Is this a common newbie issue? Am I holding it wrong? Simply pulling to tight when I flip the knot? Any help would be appreciated because I’m having a blast but can’t make more than ten stitches at time because of this. Thank you!

I’d love to hear y’all’s experiences and tips for success with this game.

I’ve been playing the solo mode on redux trying to be a golf champion and I have been absolutely stuck in league 3 even after 6 play throughs. Now, I like a challenge, and I consider myself to be good at roll and writes because they’re my fave and I play them all the time. But I think either it’s just not clicking, or I’m playing the cards wrong (looking at you Atiwa), or I’ve just met my match (please don’t judge), like I really don’t know. For clarity, I really like this game and I’m not mad at it in any way, I’m just trying to understand it more so I have more fun and growth with it.

My questions for you are: How challenging is this game supposed to be? What difficulty did you think it was? And what advice would give someone who is struggling? TYIA!
