Chase Bliss

I am not dissing Chase Bliss here. They have carved their own niche. From what I've seen, the pedals are very well made too. All that bloopy, glitchy stuff is fun, but i just don't understand how I can use them in a songwriting / musical way. What am I missing or doing wrong?

Advice on Ambient Soundscapes

Hello everyone!

Good day to you all. I'm trying to expand my pedalboard to include more ambient capabilities - lush pads, pitch shifting, bit crushing, LFOs, sweeping filters - the end goal is to build dramatic ambient soundscapes. I currently have the Strymon Big Sky, Timeline, the All Pedal Microdose and the Boss CH1 which I run IN FRONT of an Iridium, and I am looking for a 3rd pedal that will help me expand my ambient repertoire. Two pedals which interest me a lot are the OBNE Dark Star Stereo and the Source Audio Encounter. Unfortunately, demoing these pedals isn't an option where I live. Which pedal here would help me cover maximum sonic ground? Also please feel free to recommend other pedals.

My current rig

Finally happy with my gain stages. Edge of breakup, saggy overdrive, warm fat blues, high gain rhythm, singing leads - between them, these 4 pedals can do it all.

The wonderful blue box

If you know what you're doing, this little box can transport you to some truly ethereal soundscapes. I really don't understand the hate that it gets, it's just magic.

My pride and joy

As a Tool and Adam Jones fan, this was my holy grail. It's the heaviest sounding guitar I have played. An absolute monster for metal riffs. But the best part is, it can be also used for some low grain crunchy rock and blues!

Iridium surprised me

In spite of not being updated in a long time, the Iridium surprised me with how well it can adapt to progressive rock and metal, when boosted. Takes pedals really well, and the stock IRs are quite nice when EQd right.

My board for progressive rock and metal

This is my board for music which is mainly progressive rock and metal. I play a lot of Tool, Porcupine Tree, Opeth and Dream Theater, and this pedalboard covers most bases. I use the OCD Ge for singing smooth leads, and the Empress Heavy Menace for high gain rhythm tones. As far as Tool covers go, the Empress is an absolutely amazing piece of kit. The Diamond compressor is for adding sustain and body.

This is my first pedalboard build. I'm halfway through and pretty excited to add the rest. Here is a photo of my actual pedalboard (the Lehle is on its way from Germany and stuck with customs), and a pedal playground mockup of what I intend on adding over the next few months. I've only played multi FX units till now and this is so much fun!
