i’ll be in australia on a WHV and id like to work on a ranch.
my family owns horses (i do too) so i grew up around them and definitely know how to ride, ive also worked on a ranch for years in the scolding heat and -20° degree weather with knee deep snow, so i know what im getting into. this job isn’t for everyone but ive done it for years.
my question is, what should my first steps be when im in australia? im completely new to working in different countries on a WHV so im not sure how to start. i heard that cowboy/western culture is big in some places in australia but id like to hear others opinions. all advice and tips are welcome!

me and a close friend of mine are both getting pokemon tattoos (im 18 shes 17). they’re not going to be very big so maybe the size of hand. they’re also gonna be in areas no one will see unless we’re at the beach or getting changed. we both adore pokemon and have played the games since we were little, our love for the franchise has never changed even if the games have gotten worse.
ive seen a lot of people saying you should wait till you’re older before you get a tattoo. no matter how small or how much you love the design. and usually i agree when it comes to big tattoos or tattoos in visible areas, but is it really that bad if you get a small tattoo at a young age in an area thats covered up 90% of the time? id really love to hear other perspectives/opinions!

ive seen this question asked a couple of times on reddit, and every time there are different answers. “bone marrow has A LOT of calories” and the next second its “bone marrow doesn’t have a lot of calories”. its confusing and it makes my calorie count even harder. i ate 110g of bone marrow on baguette today (no seasoning or nothing just bone marrow spread on pieces of baguette), so how many calories did i actually consume from the bone marrow alone? i need honest answers 🙏🏼

my horse is 8 now, i bought her from a slaughterhouse when she was 3. she was really jumpy back then and we assume that she got abused by her old owners. she’s a lot more relaxed now and went through a lot of training so she can now be ridden no problem. shes an amazing horse and has got a lot of potential but she’s extremely jumpy. i can’t go on trail rides, take her around the fields (which is still part of the ranch), or just simply ride her without her getting spooked and running off/bucking every two minutes. ive tried desensitising training in the past but it hasn’t helped that much. id appreciate any tips and advice for desensitising training or your own experiences!
