1. P5 Pandu of Tadoba. He was the original Pandu of Tadoba before Matkasur. He was a son of Leela and W male from their final litter and the brother of P2 Maya.

2. Bajirao male from Bor Tiger Reserve. He was likely the mate of Katrina female (although I haven't done research on this)

3. Dendu male of Navegaon Nagzira. He was the mate of Alfa and Mai and fathered 8 cubs (Prince/Samrat migrated to Pench, Jai migrated to Umred, Veeru, Alisha, Bhombhuram, Ayat, Tani and Kani migrated to Navegaon WLS from old nagzira). He was likely poached.

4. Bandra male of Khursapar, Pench MH, as a young male

5. Male tiger tagged as KNT110 from Kanha National Park, Mukki zone, in the 1990s. Unfortunately I do not know anything else about him. I suspect he was a son of Gaur Singh as he looks a lot like his probable grandson Nakkatta.

6. Legendary Banka male of Bandhavgarh from the late 1980s. He was the dominant male of Tala zone from 1984 to 1991 and the first mate of Sita, fathering her first 2 litters.

7. One of the first sightings of Mangu of Bandhavgarh in 2014. This was from the Banbehi area.

8. Rahasya male of Bandhavgarh. He was suspected to be a son of Bokha. He was one of the many challengers of Bamera and also killed all but 1 of Kankati's cubs (that one cub grew up to be T37 Somanshu). He eventually left the area and went missing. Some speculate he was killed by Jobhi

9. Tigress named Chili from Tala zone, Bandhavgarh, in 2002. Photographed unfortunately did not provide any more information about her. She was likely a transient tigress

10. Tiger from Bandhavgarh in the 1980s. I had originally misidentified it as the man eater of Bandhavgarh from 1982. On closer inspection, it seems like this is a different male. I theorize that this male is actually none other than "Daddy", the mate of the old Sita Mandap female and the father of legendary tigress Sita.

Old Charger male of Dudhwa was the dominant male of Dudhwa in the early 2010s. I believe he was probably the father of Gabbar. He was likely killed by Gabbar, his successor. I don't know anything else about him.

In the ancient times, due to the formation of the Himalayas, a vast stretch of wetlands had formed in Southeast Asia stretching from the banks of the Brahmaputra River down through Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia etc. However, due to cultivation and monoculture, this huge stretch of habitat is now confined to small relict populations. The most well known relict wetland is of Kaziranga National Park. Kaziranga holds some of the greatest biodiversity of any National Park in India and one of the largest populations of the Indian Rhinoceros. Here's some wildlife from my trip to Kaziranga in March 2023:

1. Charger in his absolute prime, 1992

2. Dau, he was from the 2nd litter of Sita (sired by Banka). From the 2 brothers, 1 was poached in 1993 and the other died in 1992 (possibly killed by Charger)

3. This is Dau's brother Balram

4. W2/Kanwar, he was from the 1st litter of Wakeeta/Banbehi female sired by Bamera

5. W1/Pushparaj, the larger brother of Kanwar.

6. Legendary Sita. This is her with her last litter. I believe this cub is probably S3 (could be wrong)

7. You might think this is Sita at first glance but it's not. This is whom I believe to be Sita's not so famous lookalike sister. The 2 looked so similar that telling them apart in a few minutes is basically impossible. Look closely, there is a small difference

8. First sighting of Jobhi in 2013 (or 2012, I don't remember). Contrary to popular belief, there's hardly any evidence he was Bokha's son and he was likely a migrant

9. Elusive Muditara male of Bandhavgarh as a subadult, 2018. I am unsure of his lineage

10. Elusive Mangal of Khitauli zone. Many believe him and his mate Anuthi (B4) to be the parents of Bheem and Mangu. He died in 2010 from electrocution

11. Unknown male from Bandhavgarh in the 1990s. Many said it was Charger but it isn't. This could possibly be the Gohni male, the male who was previously believed to be the father of the 1st two litters of Bacchi (note: I previously spelled his name wrong as Ghondi male)

12. Legendary Banka/Barkha in his prime

13. Old Rajbehra male of Magdhi from the 1990s. He was the mate of Hardia female and possibly the father of Bhagoda. Some believe Bokha to be a descendant of him

14. This is B3, the largest of the B brothers. He was electrocuted in 2003

15. This is B1, he took over the rajbehra meadow where he was the father of Chameli/Bagh Dalaka female with Kokila

16. Kokila, the mate of B1 and the mother of Chameli

17. Rare photo shows Sita as a cub with her mother. Clicked in 1982

18. Huge tigress Safeda of Bandhavgarh. She was one of the mates of Banka and once beat up Sita. She was originally a mate of Daddy (Sita's father) then Banka, his successor

Gaur Singh was one of the most legendary male tigers of his time. He was the dominant male of Mukki zone from the late 1990s up to 2004. He likely courted Heart-shaped female and possibly also Minkur female (probably his daughter) and old Indri female. He is believed to have been the father of Konda and Samson. He died in the year 2004 after which Limping Male took over. Neela Nala male and MV3 are descended from him.

1, 2, 3. Legendary dominant male tiger "Taimur" of Dhikala, Corbett, from the 1980s. In my opinion, in the first pic his face looks quite similar to that of Bheema of Gairal. I presume the 2nd photo could be him. The 3rd photo was taken in 1989, the zone was not mentioned but I presume it's Taimur.

4. Legendary Sita of Bandhavgarh. This was one of the first wide angle photographs of a tiger taken. This was taken right out of her den

5. T1 Balram of Umred Karhandla from 2013. He was the predecessor of Jai and the first recorded tiger of the wildlife sanctuary

6, 7. More photos of Machli's father as a young male

8. T1 Charger of Pench from the late 1990s. He was the father of Collarwali, Baghin Nala female and Tarzan among other cubs.

9. This is the young challenger shown in the BBC documentary "Tiger:Spy in the Jungle" taking place 2005-2008. This is most likely T2 Kalapahad male. He was born in 1999 to T1 Charger and Badi mada, he had a sister named Kankati. Eventually he took over and fathered the 5th litter of Badi mada as well as the first litter of Collarwali, however soon enough BMW took over from him

10. Notorious Trishul of Corbett. He had a long reign and captured large parts of Dhikala zone. He is probably the father of Titli and Kali aankh wali female from the 1st litter of the Chuapani tigress. He also probably fathered the first litter of the legendary Parwali female (could be wrong though), which was unfortunately eaten by a leopard

The tiger shown above was a man-eater from Bandhavgarh shot in 1982. He was a well known individual, known as Hemmed. It is suspected that he had turned into a man eater after losing one of his canine teeth. Unfortunately, further details of this tiger have been lost with time. If anyone has any information, please share in the comments.

1. Elusive and huge Duldula/Kauaghatia male of Dudhwa. He took over Sathiana range from the old Sathiana/Baildanda male.

2 and 3. Ram of Bandipur, he was the brother of Raja and Shettikere male and a son of Agastya. He was the biggest out of the 3 brothers, however somehow Raja managed to become the dominant male after killing Agastya

4. Sonapani female of Kanha as a young female. She was the daughter of Laxmi and the mother of the Umarpani female and the grandmother of T30 Umarpani male

5. Langda of Kanha, he was one of the first photographed male tigers of Kanha meadows dating back to the 1980s. He sired the first few litters of Banseri female, although the cubs likely didn't survive. He was defeated by Saja

6. Saja the great, he defeated Langda and took over the Kanha meadows. He was the father of Laxmi. Today, many tigers of Kanha like DB3, Neela Nala, Pattewala, Sharmili etc. are all known and confirmed descendants of Saja

7. Gaur Singh male of Kanha. He was named so because he used to regularly kill and eat adult Gaur. He was the dominant male of Mukki zone from the 1990s to the early 2000s. He's widely believed to have been the father of Konda and Samson. He died in the year 2004, after which Limping Male took over

8. Legendary Saddam Hussein of Kanha. He was the mate of Laxmi and the father of the old Chuhri female and the great grandfather of Chota Munna. He was killed by a rival male (possibly his successor, Bhura), his body was famously shown in a documentary. He also had huge paws

9. Noon and Kublai from Ranthambore. They proceeded to mate afterwards. This was the making of Noorjahan (the grandmother of Machli)

10. T37 Khamodi dadar male of Kanha. He is widely believed to have been the father of T46 Bhaisanghat male

Although unnamed, this male is arguably one of the most influential male tigers of Rajasthan. The story began when the tigress Noorjahan, the daughter of Kublai and Noon and the maternal granddaughter of Padmini, as well as possibly her mate were killed by poachers. This left behind her young daughter, unexperienced and terrified. Eventually, a new young and handsome male took over the 3 lakes. Surprisingly, the male accepted the female and mated with her. Sir Fateh Singh Rathore recalled that this male had fathered many litters in Ranthambore, although the records of which have mostly been lost. Well, except one. In 1997, from the last litter of the young female, 3 female cubs were born. The most dominant female defeated her mother and took over the lakes. She pushed away her 2 sisters, one of which migrated to Guda area (where she was poisoned in 2008) and the other to the nearby Sultanpur area (where she was likely poached). The 2 cubs were tagged T15 and T14 respectively. The most dominant female was often called the "Jhalra female" or "Jugni". After the documentary "The Tiger's Fortress" came out, the Jhalra tigress was finally given the name we all know her by. Machli.

The male shown here is none other than Machli's father. He is undoubtedly one of the most underrated tigers of Ranthambore. He eventually started getting pushed by the young male tiger (his future son-in-law), Bamboo Ram (the first mate of machli). Machli's father was photographed one last time in the year 2000 by sir Aditya Singh (photo-2), never to be seen again, ending the legacy of one of the greatest tigers of Ranthambore.

1. T27 Gilai Sagar female, she was the mother of T28 Star male, T29, T30 Husn Ara and T31 Indu and a grandmother to many, such as T91 Mirza, T84 Arrowhead etc.

2. Elusive Nick/Nick ear of Ranthambore from the early 2000s, he was the 2nd mate of Machli and the father of Jhumroo

3. Male tiger named "Surjan", one of Jhumroo's sons

4. T15 Guda female, one of Machli's 2 sisters

5. Padmini female from the 1970s. Back then, tigers of Ranthambore would only come out at night due to heavy poaching. This tigress started giving sir Fateh Singh Rathore and Valmik Thapar regular sightings, so sir Fateh named her after his eldest daughter, Padmini. She was the great-great grandmother of Machli. Today, many tigers of Ranthambore are her descendants.

6. T12 Guda male as a cub. He later became the dominant male of Guda area and was the father of Noor.

7. T13 Old Sultanpur female, she was the only known daughter of T14, hence being Machli's niece. She was also the mother of Noor and later mated with T42 Fateh and was the mother of Noorjahan

8. T16 Machli as a cub

9. The first ever sighting of Bamboo Ram, the first mate of Machli. Here he's a subadult, clicked in Semli valley

10. T2 X male/Big Daddy. He mated with 6 females and sired an enormous number of cubs. He was also the 3rd mate of Machli and sired her last 2 litters. Today, every tiger of Ranthambore is a descendant of him.

1. Huge male tiger named "Eastern Bhale" from Chitwan National Park in the early 2000s. He was the dominant male for 6 years from 1999 to 2005, he fathered 16 litters from 10 different females

2. Male tiger "Bhagoda" from Bandhavgarh in the 1990s. He famously fought Charger in 1996, giving him an injury to the eye. I believe he could've been the son of Hardia female and old Rajbehra male

3. Old Hilltop male from Tadoba from the 2000s. He was the father of Vasant Bandhara male aka W male and the grandfather of Maya

4. Male tiger "Hemmed" from Bandhavgarh in the 1980s, he became a man eater and was shot in 1982.

5. First ever sighting of Jobhi of Bandhavgarh, 2012-13. Contrary to popular belief, there's almost no evidence that he was a son of Bokha. He likely migrated from elsewhere

6. Elusive Mangal from Bandhavgarh. The female shown here is likely B4 (Anuthi). He was the son of Reshma/Old Banbehi female and B2, he was the brother of R10 Tulsi and uncle of Kallu and Mallu. Many believe him to have been the father of Bheem and Mangu

7. Banka of Bandhavgarh from the 1980s, he was the first mate of Sita and the father of Dau, Balram, Hardia female and Nar Baccha. He was displaced by Charger in 1990-91 and was never seen again

8. Slant ear on the left and Broken Tail on the right, 2000. They were from the first litter of Machli of Ranthambore, sired by Bamboo Ram. Broken Tail was famously hit by a train when he travelled away from Ranthambore and Slant Ear was likely poached.

9. Bako/Bakaula male of Ranthambore from the 1980s. He was the dominant male of the Bakaula region of the park for a few years. He mated with Laxmi and Nalghati female (2 daughters of Padmini female of the 1970s). I believe T5 Kichda female could've been a descendant of him through his mate Laxmi (from facial features), although with no evidence.

10. Kublai of Ranthambore in the 1980s. He took over Rajbagh after Genghis/Abu went missing in 1982. He mated with Noon and was the father of Noorjahan and the great grandfather of Machli

1. Low quality image of a male tiger on camera trap in Tala zone in the 1990s. This could possibly be Ghondi male, the male who was previously believed to have fathered the cubs of Mohini from her 1st and 2nd litter (B1, B2, B3 from 1st litter, B4, B5 from 2nd litter). However nowadays we believe that they were fathered by Charger (he mated with his own daughter)

2. Subadult B3 pseudo-mating with B2. Male cubs often do this to show dominance

3. From left to right: B2, B3, B1. From 1997-8. B1 migrated to Magdhi where he mated with Kokila and was the father of Chameli/Bagh Dalaka female and the grandfather of C5 (Yoshila) and the great grandfather of Dotty being the great great grandfather of D1. Meanwhile B3 stayed in Tala where he was electrocuted after which B2 took over

4. Male tiger P111 with P213 of Panna. He was more elusive than his brother P112

5. Mighty "Sheru" of Garjiya, Corbett. He used to be baited by lodges conducting illegal private elephant safaris where Sheru used to follow the Elephants like a dog waiting for food. Eventually he killed a woman on the banks of the Kosi River after which he was captured in 2009. He was shifted to the Nainital zoo where he died in 2015.

6. T15 Guda female (Machli's sister) with her cubs. This is probably her first litter (haven't matched facial stripes). T12 from her first litter was the father of T39 Noor and was later shifted to Sariska. T21 went missing in 2012. Guda female was poisoned in 2008 after which her 2nd litter was raised by villagers.

7. White tigress (on the left) filmed by Jim Corbett in 1938. He briefly mentioned it in his book Man Eaters of Kumaon in the chapter "Just Tigers". This is from the illustrated version showing the photo

8. This male tiger was causing ruckus outside Corbett. He was captured and shifted to Dhikala. This is probably from his young days

9. Male tiger in the Dhikala grasslands 2013. From the photos I've found of him, he was the dominant male of Sambhar road and the grasslands from 2007 to the early 2010s. Solid Cantaloupe told me that he firmly believed this male tiger was the father of the famous tigress Parwali

10. Tigress Banseri from Kanha in the 1980s. The cub shown here is the famous tigress Laxmi. Today, many tigers in Kanha such as DB3, Pattewala, Neela Nala, Jr Bajrang, Balwan etc. are confirmed descendants of her

Rashtrapati was the dominant male of Nagzira for a long time. His bloodline is known for turning into Forrest Grump becoming 4 years old. His grandson Jai famously migrated from Nagzira to Umred Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary. Bittu, one of his sons, migrated from Umred to Brahmapuri forest division where he likely had many children including T250 who is now in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. One of Jai's other sons, Bali, migrated to Maharashtra-side Pench Tiger Reserve where he had many children too. It should be noted that only male offsprings of the said tigers have become famous and have well kept records

Rashtrapati's bloodline is known as a cursed bloodline. Rashtrapati himself was killed by villagers in 2013. Dendu was likely poached. Veeru went missing and was likely poached. Jai went missing when he was 9. Bittu was hit by a train in Sindewahi last year. Srinivas was poached then buried. Bahu went missing. Jaichand became a dominant male of Umred Karhandla, but he too likely went missing a year or two later.

1. T15 Guda female she was one of Machli's 2 sisters. The 2 cubs here are T21 (front) and T12 (back). T21 went missing in 2012, few years later a poacher confessed to have killed him. T12 became a dominant male of Guda area and was the father of Noor (mated with his maternal cousin and paternal half brother btw). He was shifted to Sariska as ST4 where he later was killed by ST6 (his paternal half brother btw). Guda female was poisoned in 2008 while she had a second litter of 2 (1 male and 1 female). They were raised by humans and the male and female were tagged T36 and T37 respectively. T36 was later killed by Fateh and T37 Meera died on unknown causes

2. Jhumroo the great, he was the son of Nick and Machli. He had many children in ranthambore and contributed to its population

3. Subadults from Chiroli area in Ranthambore, 2003. I haven't seen any images of the mother

4. T3 Ookhan of Tadoba he was the brother of choti Tara and the son of Yeda Anna and Tara. He later migrated to Brahmapuri where he allegedly had many children. Balram is believed to be his son

5 and 6. Gangaram male of Kolsa, he was the successor of Shivaji and mated with his daughter Kuwani. He was the father of Mowgli and Paras

7. ~2 year old Matkasur in 2014. Some believe he was the son of Jamunjhora/Matkasur female (not sure if they're the same individual) and Namdev (Saturn)

10. Limping male of Mukki zone Kanha, he is believed to be the father of Munna. He was the successor of Gaur Singh and had at least 6 children, namely: Munna, Chain male, Red eye, Old Pattewala, Mahaveer female and Indri-II
