Newbie: should i go for brush plating?

This worn off area of my guitar bridge has been bothering me for 10 years, you can’t get this part anymore under £700. Today i saw some guy brush plating with a 9v battery and it looked excellent. After some back and fourth with chatgpt It looks like I have worn through the shiney layer (?nickel) as well as gold
I was thinking of getting a cheap 6v plug off aliexpress and just directly brush plating with gold brush plate solution, do you think i should nickel plate first?

Lots of unknown unknowns for me so please tell me if i should just abandon this idea all together.

also i am happy to spend decent money on this, but dont want a voltage rectifier for £150 just sitting in my garage for a one off project.
Many thanks

When will we receive the 7% pay rise and will it be backdated to April?

I have been checking my payslips and nothing yet. Is there any official information on this? Will we get a few hundred extra on top with backdated pay?
Many thanks

Should i give up checking if the collectors edition is in stock?

Unfortunately I woke up after the announcement and they were all sold out, been checking multiple times per day hoping someone cancels. Has anyone had any luck with this? I have never even gotten an email to say its back in stock despite reminders on for every edition.

Scalpers...

Sold out instantly, not that annoyed but would be nice for actual fans to get it, surely there is some kind of way to stop this sort of thing by now? Hopefully there is a restock :c

Destroyed Psp 1k during IPS screen mod

PSP I got for my birthday in 2005

Thought some of you might enjoy how comically bad this went.

I own a (cheap) soldering iron and have connected a few small wires together, I thought what the hell this looks easy.

Completed botched it despite several youtube videos making it look achievable demonstrating various ways to bridge contacts (blob solder easily onto board / tin iron, heat in between and feed small amount of solder between contacts)

I don’t know why but was unable to get small amount of solder to actually leave iron and sit on the board even tinning and heating board with fine tip. If i used too little solder the iron would just lift it back up off the board. But using more solder would leave a massive blob that bridged to other contacts.

Never used flux before but a youtube video suggested it, just made a puff of smoke and burned onto the board having to he scraped off.

Multiple attempts left contacts dull so was scraping them to uncover conductive material, I think i scraped all the way through the copper layer but kept on going anyway…

The final straw was when a massive blob of solder heated and desoldered a number of small components.

On the bright side I have now got some awareness of how shit my soldering skills are and will use the board to practice and get better. Also have a load of spare parts now!
