I don't wanna ask a generic question but: Should I Go Backpacking?

I feel as if it's in my heritage. My grandmother did it in the 1950's. My Dad did it in the 1980's/90's. My sister did it recently. They all preach it as one of the best experiences of their lives and my Dad says its one of his recurring dreams, going backpacking again. They all warned me it was frought with loneliness and struggle tho. I've been on comfortable holiday before and each time in my adult life i've seriously missed home and my friends. I know backpacking would be good for me but that pain I felt on comfy holidays seriously stuck with me, I don't know how I'd go for 10 months +. Help me!

A Plea to Swans Fans (And Sydney sports fans in general)

Please, please get out to the AFLW double header at the SCG to support the girls this weekend.

Whether or not you stay for the men's game is your choice but, echoing the comments of Marnie Vinall, it's clearly been such a hard couple of days for the women's team and the club staff especially after fighting tooth and nail for a game at the SCG for a long time.

Get this message far and wide, it would be great for it to be as packed as possible to show them your support.

Statement from AFL CEO Andrew Dillon

"The conduct and serious allegations regarding Sydney Swans players are deeply concerning.⁣

While the matter remains under police investigation, it raises broader issues for our game and our responsibilities as a sport.⁣

The woman who made the report to police is entitled to privacy and care, and that should be respected.⁣

It is important that the police process is allowed to run its course. ⁣

Sexual assault allegations are serious, regardless of who is involved, what time of year it is, or what they may mean for a season.⁣

Our first question should not be what this means for a football club. It should be whether our actions match the standards we stand for and the community expects of us.⁣

As a sport, and as an industry, we are clear about the standards we expect and the values we stand for and the need to uphold them.⁣

Being clear about our standards also means being prepared to act when those standards are not met.⁣

Notwithstanding the ongoing police investigation, the AFL and the Sydney Swans will consider the broader conduct of the players as more information comes to light."

We will win tonight.

Froggy and Bez milestones. Two of the toughest and most resilient, not to mention loved, blokes on the team.

Back at home.

Coming off of a absolute pantsing.

Backs against the fucking wall.

Go Ryans.

Has the AFL ever felt this... bleak??

Despite my team giving me some of the most amazing experiences of my life for the better part of a decade, I think everyone can agree regardless of team that being an AFL supporter has never felt this bleak.

I cannot think of a single decision AFL house has made that has positively benefitted the fans in the past couple of years. Dillon, Kane, Swann, Drummond, Tribunal, have all been consistently failing the fans. This most recent Geelong concussion revelation, Wildcard round, India expansion, ARC, club punishment inconsistencies, making the umpires jobs even harder, the constant bowing to gambling and broadcasters, unnecessary changes to rules and the speeding up of the game, and countless more.

It genuinely feels like there's nothing we can do about this. The slow and steady corruption of community and culture for the sake of money by some of the most incompetent and grubby fuckwits on Earth and it's only going to get worse from here.

What can we do?

Gauging Public Opinion: Brisbane?

Hi,

As a Brisbane supporter, I'm obviously heavily biased towards my team, and as such I can't obtain a wider view of footy opinion.

I've seen a lot of stuff lately suggesting that our players are arrogant, and more and more we're obtaining the purview that we're an arrogant club that everyone else is sick of winning flags at this point, much like Richmond and Hawthorn in dynasties past.

From my perspective, I'm still stuck in the mindset that we're overachieving given our horrendous past post-threepeat, a club that drew tiny crowds in a secondary sport for the state and am still amazed that we're managing to do what we do.

What does the footy public really think? I'm praying that we go for another threepeat no matter what anyone says obviously, but what is the honest general view on Brisbane at this stage?

Last Night I Had A Prophetic Fever Dream About Half-Life 3

I am currently quite ill with COVID and went to sleep.

The steam Summer Sale page got replaced with a full page spread for Half Life 3 and all the other games on steam were gone.

The only images of the game were super stretched out photos of HL1 character models.

There was one gameplay video, high quality graphics of a night-time scene where Gordon was on a train heading towards Borealis. The entire clip was an on-rails shooter similar to House of the Dead.

January 2027 release and it was retailing for $56.
