Even if I drive a bit out of LA to the mountains the water tastes real, refreshing and crisp. Or even in other cities it tastes better to me.

In LA, the tap water legit tastes like diluted pool water. Why is that? What are we adding to or doing to the water that makes it taste so foul?

I don't doubt that it's clean, but it just tastes so terrible to me.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or just neutral. But I wanted to tell you all that outside of WI / the Midwest, people think UW Milwaukee and UW Madison are the same place.

Obviously, a generalization. But it's been true for me in multiple job interviews in California.

People look at my resume and make some comment like "Oh I've heard of that school, go Badgers!" Or some football related comment about how their college team played mine in some championship.

It's kind of nice to get Madison's prestige if it helps lands a job.

Even when I correct people, they don't seem to understand it's different.

Oftentimes, rural communities dominate the conversation about data center construction.

But did you know there are dozens of data centers right here in LA?

Even more are being planned. There is even a skyscraper downtown that is a data center. Sometimes, these buildings syphon off power from adjacent buildings, or construct fake offices so the city will permit them to build data centers.

I feel like nobody is talking about this in LA.

Does this concern you? How do you feel about it?

I'm an American who lives in LA and might be moving to Toronto.

What is the gay scene like? Is it easy to make friends?

And how does it compare to Vancouver?

I work in customer support for a tech company. We have a company in the Philippines which we pay to handle some of our cases. This has been going on for over 3 years now.

We also have a dedicated program manager in our department whose entire job it is to train this team and support them.

Lately, this manager has been trying to set meetings with me to advise on potential cases that this offshore team can take over from us.

I have no desire to help with this.

How should I respond?

Congrats, LA. We just got absolutely fleeces by our politicians into another tax increase to the general fund.

I keep seeing these mayor / la county results and the total votes are so low. I know they haven't all been counted yet, but it's a few hundred thousand votes in a city of millions.

Why is this? Is this normal for a city of LA's size? I haven't really paid attention to raw numbers in past elections.

Personally, I do not find guys who do botox or face fillers attractive. I think it always looks very weird on men specifically.

I find it to look better aesthetically on women. If it's not overdone.

But on men, I feel like it looks really unattractive to me.

I personally like a guy who shows his age, as I think a lot of men look more attractive as they age.

What do you think?

I am a transplant from the Midwest, so there's no hate. Just curious.

I moved to LA about 10 years ago for work. I've always had a MUCH easier time getting along with people who grew up in LA than the people who moved here from elsewhere (like me).

The people who grew up in LA are chill, down to Earth, generally happy and just normal.

The transplants seem to be really difficult for me to relate to, have an agenda, be hyper-obsessed with their image / career goals or just be really flaky and difficult to coordinate with. At least as a whole. And they always seem to move somewhere else after a few years so it's impossible to actually be friends.

Does anyone else notice this? Why is this?

I want healthcare reform. Badly.

But why would Measure ER be the fix?

Increasing sales tax is just a burden to working people in an already unaffordable area. It's a tax on nearly everything.

My biggest problem with it is that there is no guarantee that the funds will even be used to bolster healthcare in LA.

This just seems like a really terrible idea.

IMO, if we are lacking funds for healthcare because of federal choices our politicians need to go campaign for more funding, not pass the burden along to citizens.

Why would people want this to pass?

I've had 3 orthodontists tell me the same thing. I can help my crossbite with invisalign.

Or, I can completely fix it with MARPE/SARPE, then invisalign.

Some say it's necessary, some say it isn't. None will give me an opinion on what I should do.

How do I decide?

I am a 30 year old male.

I have recently been exploring getting Invisalign. I had braces as a kid including headgear and an expander.

The main issue I'm looking to fix is a cross bite. I have gum recession on my two front lower teeth.

I went to two orthodontists and got two very different opinions.

*Orthodontist 1*
12-16 months of Invisalign w/ rubber bands would fix my cross bite and align my teeth with "great results".

*Orthodontist 2*
My cross bite can *only* be fixed with a MARPE device within 12 months. Alternatively, I can choose to do 6 months of Invisalign but it will do nothing for my bite. He said unless an expander is started by age 10, it's basically useless which is why I'm having a cross bite again (I was 11 when I started braces). He also heavily emphasized it will help with "breathing problems" even though I said I don't have any breathing, snoring or apnea problems and he looked at a scan of my airway and said it "looked good".

I really don't know what to believe.

I want to get a third opinion - but what questions should I be asking here to know if the treatment plan is going to be successful and if it's what I really need?
