My new new setup

I keep modifying my setup. Originally I had my Starlink mini mounted on the small tripod (maybe 19” tall) but kids kept bumping into on the field and one kid almost sat on it, lol. So I got a taller tripod to raise the mini eye level so maybe people wouldn’t walk into it. Next I added back in the travel router. For some reason at last weekends tournament, the Mevo was having a little bit of a tough time connecting to the minis WiFi. While setting it up does add another two minutes, it does great improvement the WiFi and stable connections. Just sharing.

Settled on a Starlink Mini Setup

I picked up a Starlink mini last week to help stream games this summer (also I really wanted one because it’s fun and cool to me). Originally I tried the $230 specially made for Starlink tripod battery Amazon sells. It was decent but then I realized the BMS was trash and the battery would think it’s empty when it was full. I’m sending that battery back. Next I tried a Smallrig vb99 Pro. It definitely has the power to run the starlink but it overheats, I don’t think it was design d for what I tried. Finally I gave in and got the Anker Solix c300 DC - great pickup. I’m getting between 10 to 12 hours plus usage from it. I’ll update that stat more as I use it more. But for now, that seems right. Just sharing incase anyone else on this sub is looking at Starlink and wondering what type of battery to grab. Everything fits easily into my backpack, so simple now.

Anyone using a vmount battery with their starlink mini?

I recently purchased a ULHome tripod battery 166wh from Amazon. It started off great but then probably the cheap bms acted up and ruined it. After a few days with the tripod battery I realized this battery and all the other OEMs are probably trash. It cuts off randomly. Out of the 166wh, I think I got around 80wh off of it - so not good. So now i am rethinking my setup. Has anyone used a smallrig vb99 pro (99wh) with their mini? It looks solid and comes from a more reputable brand. It allows 100w pass through so i can throw on a ugreen 145w battery pack when needed ( i have two). I’m expecting between 9-12 hours of constant streaming with this setup. Thoughts? FYI, This will mount on a tripod with the mini.

First Stream using Starlink Mevo

I dumped my travel router and moved on to Starlink. This setup was so simple, I love it. The Starlink mini is powered by an OEM tripod battery - two minutes to setup if that. I got some interesting eyes staring at it and fielded a bunch of questions. For certain, another parent bought one today after seeing how easy it is to use. I use the Mevo single camera app so I can stream and close/background the app so I can then score the game on GC.

Mevo Studio app has to stay open even with a starlink mini?

Hi, I wouldn’t consider myself a newbie. I’ve streamed a couple hundred games using a travel router and a GoPro and more lately, a Mevo. I wanted to up my own game and recently purchased a Starlink mini to stream the games. I was running a practice session early today using GC, Mevo Start, and Starlink. If I streamed the game through the originals Mevo app, then everything is great. I can close the app or put it the background and the streaming will continue on as expected. But if I use the Mevo Studio app instead, I to keep the app open or else the streaming stops. This doesn’t seem right to me. I must be missing a setting or something. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to solve it?

Hey, so I am looking at getting a Starlink mini (roam) to bring to the softball fields so I can stream the games. My question is, does the system easily pack into a a backpack? What size battery are you using? I very much want to get this setup but I need to make sure my wife can carry it and set it up as well. If she can’t, she’ll veto the purchase, lol. So any info you have would be great.

I’ve been streaming for years, done a couple hundred games easily using a Mevo/GP and a travel router. But now I’m looking to dump the travel router for a solid hotspot. Do I need a 5g hotspot or is 4g usually fine. And what device do you use? I’d like to stick with Verizon but can always go with AT&T if it’s better. Any help would be appreciated.
