My Westinghouse fridge is about 7 years old. The freezer is at the bottom and is working correctly. The fridge is set to the medium setting of about 3 degrees Celcius (it's one of those annoying multi-LED light strips so is hard to be precise).

Recently the vegetables in the crisper section (bottom drawer of the fridge) have been freezing while the top shelf sits at 10 degrees Celcius, ie there is uneven distribution of the cold.

I've confirmed that the fan in the freezer section is correctly functioning when the door-closed button is pressed. I can feel the cold air exiting at various points along the central channel at the rear of the fridge. I pulled this panel off to confirm there are no blockages here.

The drainage channels, at the back left-and-right hand sides at the bottom of the fridge, are both clear, presumably so air can return to the freezer.

I tried defrosting the entire machine today, on the assumption that there was a temporary ice blockage preventing air from flowing correctly, so I'll tomorrow whether this fixed the issue.

In the meanwhile is there anything else I can check? Given that the compressor is running correctly, the air vents all appear clear, and the fan appears to be running correctly, what else could cause this problem?

Many thanks.

It's the perfect time of year in Australia right now, with cool crisp mornings, warm days, and gorgeous colours everywhere. These are around Bathurst NSW.
