Hi there,

I got my footage from old mini dv tapes transferred and now have clips in DaVinci Resolve. When I try the Vocal Channel effect as well as Noise Reduction, they don't seem to do anything. I wonder if it is because the audio is not on a separate track after being transferred. Does anyone know how I could reduce background noise with these circumstances?

Trying to get online to download WinDV, but someone suggested using USB driv to download the driver. Any tips greatly appreciated in getting set up to transfer miniDV tapes to digital files from a Sony camcorder to Dell 820 D using Firewire port.

For anyone who has successfully used an old Dell to transfer MiniDV tapes to digital files, How did you successfully get online using WindowsXP? Or do I need to find one with Windows 7? What will work for getting online. I have ethernet cord but that is not working either with the Dell Latitude 820D with WindowsXP. I'd appreciate any tips for accessing internet.

I am taking another stab at transferring old mindv tapes to digital. I bought the Dell Latitude D820 with a 4pin firewire port, and am looking at the Sony DCR TRV30 camcorder to do the transfer. Do you think this will work or is there a better option? I'd like to use old hardware with Firewire to keep it simple. Any feedback on the Sony DCR TRV30 or if there is a better camera option to use that tends to work well?
