Chef Curry
Really happy to add these two to my collection.
I've been trying to be strict about how I collect lately. The rule I've set myself is that if I want to add something, I have to sell something — no more accumulating. It forces me to actually decide what I care about keeping.
So to get these, I sold a SGA Silver Prizm rookie in PSA 10. I held it for a few seasons, but I wanted to move into something that felt a bit more settled value wise. Shai's value still depends on how the next few seasons go. Curry's career is basically written.
Both of these came from the same seller. I was chasing this seller for over a month. The one on the left is the interesting one.
It's a 2010-11 Panini Elite Black Box Status Autograph, Curry's second year, /49. I could not find a single recorded sale of it! This made the chase even more thrilling. It was difficult to comp, but the closest one I could turn up was PSA 7 Kobe that sold in April 2026 from the same Status set through Fanatics. Kobe is /99.
So I kept digging, using a lot of 130point, GemRate, and PSA pop reports researching to find more data on the card. My conclusion was that the card really is more scarce rather than just obscure — as the total graded pop across PSA, BGS and SGC is 10. I also learned Black Box was a high end set at the time.
The one on the right is a 2013-14 Panini Titanium New Wave auto.
Overall, really happy to add both into my collection! If anyone has any more information on these would be happy to hear.
Watching Portland has made me weirdly grateful for Glen Taylor
For anyone not following the Blazers situation: Tom Dundon bought the team from Paul Allen’s estate for $4.25 billion. Since taking over, he’s laid off 70 front office staff and gutted the broadcast team. He’s also asking the city, county, and state for $600 million in arena money while putting in nothing himself, on the grounds that he already pays taxes. Dundon is playing the relocation playbook.
JonK said on a podcast last week that Dundon was sniffing around the Wolves before Lore and A-Rod got involved. To be fair, he also said it never got close to real engagement.
Was Glen a good owner? Not really. The Kahn years happened, the Joe Smith contract, he botched the KG relationship. But he was never going to be the guy who held the state over a barrel and then packed the team into a U-Haul.
When he finally sold, he made staying in Minnesota a condition of the deal. I just feel everything Lore & ARod have done since making their first payments for the team has been first class. And they have been so public about not only reshaping the franchise but Minneapolis as a whole metropolitan area. Additionally, they are talking about funding a whole new area with 100% private funds. Talk about contrast.
I spent years calling Glen a stubborn asshole, but in the end, turns out that is really what matters. I love this franchise and there would be a lot of people in here who would be heartbroken to see them move to Kansas City or somewhere else.
Hearts out to Portland, hope you keep the Trail Blazers 🖤❤️
SGA or Jordan
I might be asking the obvious question here, but. . .
I hold the SGA, and have a few Jordans on my list (Soul
of the Game, Sticky Fingers, Beam Team). One finally popped up at my LCS.
I have been thinking about selling the Shai to fund the Jordan. Thoughts?
