Does anyone work in their car regularly?

Yesterday I worked and stayed 4 hours in my Tesla model y again, just want to share and see if there are people who work in the car frequently.

I moved the driver’s seat all the way back and the steering wheel all the way forward and down.

as usual it consumed 15% energy for staying 4 hours, 2 hours, break, another 2 hours, in it with AC set to 20℃ auto and wind in medium and intake mode. It was 30℃ outside the car;

this time I recorded the CO2 level. when the AC was in recirculating mode, CO2 went up to 1200 - 1500, while in AC intake mode, it read in 500 - 600, which was about the same level as in my home.

with a local llm loaded, my macbook pro may get up to >60℃ sometimes, which make it uncomfortable putting it on my lap. placing the computer on a board resolve the problem.

And it feels really nice in the car when it’s raining and the car is parked outside. :-)

Maybe the iOS Reminders app is enough for managing dozens of todos

I’ve tried Trello, Obsidian, Notion, Lark, but none lasted long. Now I think maybe the iOS Reminders app alone is good enough. Complexity harms productivity.

Though I think few people use only the Reminders app, do you do that?

Tesla AP acceleration too aggressive in slow traffic — would FSD be smoother?

I find AP's acceleration in this specific scenario too jerky. For those with FSD: is it noticeably gentler in this scenario, if you still remember your AP experience?

When the 64GB was available, I returned the 48GB one

I said to myself when I decided to buy a macbook pro M5 16" that 48gb was enough, by then the 64gb one was not available. That's not enough, I can squeeze $200 from elsewhere.

Do you guys leave your mbp on 24/7 running AI agents?

Do you guys leave your mbp on 24/7 with openclaw or other agents running in it? Going to do that from today since I have decided not to spend more money on a though tempting used M4 Mac mini 16gb 256gb.

I feel guilty for it but idk if it even matters, maybe it’s just built for that. And in my case, no running local LLM but cloud API, so the machine barely heat up. But it’s an expensive, new machine, just feeling uneasy to leave it running when I go to sleep for the first time.

Edit:

It’s a 16” one. I have been plugging in an external display which can charge mbp, but it is 65W. I found that the battery has been maintained at 100% these days, not 80%. Would that be an issue?

From M1 16gb to M5 48gb MacBook Pro 16”

I think I’m free to opening dozens more browser tabs and several more applications now, finally, hopefully for next 5 years.

What did you build your sff for?

I’m a MacBook Pro user, but My 10 yo is eager to play some steam games and I am interested in learning basic AI stuff like fine tuning small LLMs, and I don’t want to use large computer case, even thinking of the possibility of carrying it on travels. So I’m considering building a sff or itx pc for us to find out.

But after asking gpt for parts lists, the cost of appealing solutions went up from $1000( I have 2x 16gb 2666 ) to 2000 and it was prone to going up. I want to hear voice from human. what is your thoughts and suggestions?

I’m also interested in your use cases. And do you actually seldom use your sff pc though you built it with excitement, or indeed you play with it a lot or even use it as your main machine?

What’s your pc’s volume and cost? What’s the parts list especially for local AI purpose?

It seems I am looking for reasons to stop the spending, but that’s a habit, and still wouldn’t stop me from making many purchases.

Thank you for your sharing in advance!

I have worked at home for more than 10 years and it seems I can't stand it any more. For the past year I have done little work, and could not force myself to be productive. But in the last few days, in the tiny space on the passenger seat of my model y, I feel calm, sort of, and can do some work.

I've been thinking that I need to see one or two strangers now and then around me who will not disturb me, so I parked the car in a parking lot with trees blocking some sunlight.

Will keep doing it to find out if it's sustainable or can be a good alternative of home/office for work.
