Received SSDV from Hades-sa.

Hi,I just wanted to share a image I received from HADES-SA which is a pocket satellite made by AMSAT-EA.

It took me a while to understand how to decode ssdv and work the satellite as the satellite only passes super late at night for me.The image at top left shows us the curvature of earth, the bright light is sun/sunlight below horizon and in the lower middle it's slightly visible is Arabian peninsula.

Windows 11 with least bloatware and good performance.

Hi, I'm having to dual boot windows 11 as that's the os of choice for my uni for running CAD,PCB designing, MS office. However, I have been linux user for a while and it's been a while since I got my hands dirty on windows. Last time I remember smt in this regards was using Atlas OS,CTT app,Rufus bypass. I was hoping if someone could guide me to current direction as to where is it going.

Specs: Asus ROG GL-703gm/i7-8750H/GTX 1060m 6gb/32 gb ddr4/1+1 SSD+HDD.

Issues with Helical Antenna for L-band Satellite reception.

Hii, I recently made this helical antenna and I'm having problems with it I'd appreciate some help.

I'm using 10AWG electrical wire and 6cm diameter PVC pipe.Wrapped around 6.5 times with turn spacing of 3cm. However it seems like it's very much capacitance as in the SWR and Independence drops to nearly 1.1/1.2:1 and 45-55 Ohm if I place my hand on the coil. I'm assuming I'm going to have to recoil or cut down the coil to 5.5 turns? I haven't tried attaching it to a offset (90 cm) dish yet and this is purely for the coil only.

Trying for GOES-15 (GVAR),Elektro L3 and L5.

UmKa-1 SSTV for international moon day

Pretty straight forward, used a 70cm DIY yagi and rtlsdr_v3 with SDRpp on 437.635 in accordance with doppler shift. The event also had text sent through it's telemetry however I was unable to decode it as I recorded it in audio and not IQ file.

US or Malaysia (Swinburne)?

Hi, I'm gonna make this quick. I recently grad from my highschool with 70% overall (CBSE/Indian curriculum) Ik it's not competitive enough however, I do have good CS and Engineering portfolio.

Now as I stand I got 2 major options EE or Mechatronics I did receive my offer from Swinburne Sarawak which is basically Malaysian campus of Swinburne Uni in Australia. However, I have also recieved offers from UCF,FIU,FAU,UofM and applied to UOT Arlington. From what I understand EE major's don't have the best employbility in US and ongoing H1-B and Trump administration shenanigans I'm stuck dead between picking them. With studying in US I ofc get the American degree and typically speaking having American degree globally seems good.
But with Swinburne Sarawak I got Mechatronics and I'll be doing 2 years in Malaysia and then transfer next of my 2 years to AUS. Now for Swinburne the whole education costs approx 90K USD if I transfer. If I don't it would cost 60k. But for UCF and UOT it's about 83k USD in tuition. For living costs I plan on working partime in the Uni and I'll be getting on avg of 15-20 USD per hour if taken avg it's about 30k USD per annum prior to taxes which means I'll be able to cover my living costs easily. But for Malaysia unfortunately I cannot work part time.

My parents are willing to pay for my tuition but if I were to transfer to AUS or US I'll have to figure out the living costs. My only concern is employment and with AUS I stand a chance for possible PR.

P.S: I'm dyslexic please excuse my erratic mumbo jumbo paragraph.

How good is Swinburne Sarawak for engineering?

Hi,I'm an international student who applied to Swinburne Sarawak for Mechatronics engineering and I'd like to know weather it's a good university as I have heard mixed responses regarding the uni.I do intend on transferring to it's Australian campus after studying 2 years in Sarawak.I'd really appreciate responses as I have to decide it very soon.

Inquiry regarding IYO Science classes.

Hi,before I begin I'm an international student interested in UofM for Electrical Engineering. However, I wasn't able to qualify for direct admission nor IYO engineering probably due to my crappy physics marks.Few things I'd like to put forward is I completed my high school from CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) which is an Indian curriculum.

Now one of my main concerns is that I'll have to keep on maintaining my GPA and keep qualifying until I get into BS EE. So based on my understanding I'll be joining IYO UTP-2 Science study a year or at least till fall (I'm applying for winter intake) maintain the GPA of 2.5 with minimum B in Maths,Physics,Chem. Then I transfer to IYO UTP-2 Engineering maintain GPA of nearly 3.0 or anything based on that year and I'll be proceeding to join the 2nd Year of EE so that's approx 4 years if I do not have to retake any of my classes I assume.

I want to confirm my understanding and ask for advice from y'all alumni/students/staff before proceeding forward. My highschool 12th grade marks are 70% overall with 64% maths,57% Physics,52% Chem,85% English,93% Comp Sci respectively. And 7.0 in IELTS.

P.S: Excuse me if I had made any error or grammatical mistakes I'm dsylexic.

First successful attempt to decode telemetry from UmKa-1

Hi there, I have been trying to decode the telemetry for past few days and it took couple attempts but however I got it managed to decode it.

The telemetry downlink is at 437.625 you ofc have to consider the dopper efffect. Throughout the pass I recorded it in wav format and tried to put it though HS_soundmodem but even after multiple attempts and changing the FSK bd multiple times and looping though the audio file I was unable to get anything.

I then installed Conda and miniforge then proceeded with gr-satellities & satnogs and then ran them to get a hexfile JSON & KSS (kiss). I then opened them though SX-TLM-Viewer to get the decoded telemetry and then setup a html page and put all the data in there.

Unable to pickup anything on my helical antenna.

Made a LHCP helical antenna using 1mm copper wire wrapped around a pvc pipe of 6cm in diameter and spacing of 25mm. I tried to follow dereksgc I'm trying to make it for Elektro l3 & l5,GOES 15,Fengyun 2H L-band freq. Also I'm using a 90cm offset dish and there's continuity in the grounding. For some reason I'm also able to pick up local FM broadcast as well. I unfortunately do not have a nanovna so there's no way for me to check the SWR.
