For the first time, I ate alone at a restaurant.

First and foremost, I should point out that I’m a highly sensitive INFJ who’s been hypervigilant since childhood. Because of this, I’m a real hermit, never had a friend, I don’t really like leaving my house, going into town, or being in any of those places where it’s teeming with people.

For the first time today, I decided to eat alone at a restaurant and I wanted to share with you this self improvement.

Since it was my first time, I decided to reserve a spot as soon as they opened. I was the first one there, so I was pretty relaxed... I brought my e-reader with me and settled in. Everything was going well, but little by little, other people started arriving... Some were alone, too, while others were in groups. From that point on, it became harder for me to cope…

I couldn’t read anymore! Between the music and the conversations all around me, it was impossible to concentrate… So I pretended to be reading, but actually I couldn't resist listening to all the conversations around me.

Sometimes I felt like people were staring at me, which made me a little uncomfortable. I imagined, just like in the movies, that since I was alone, the waiter would be more likely to strike up a conversation with me, but not at all, in fact, it was quite formal and hasty.

After that meal, I went out for a walk around town. I sat on a bench and watched people go by, imagining what their lives were like. But pretty soon it all started to feel uncomfortable and tiring, the noise, the crowds, and so on. So I went back to my cave, and now I feel better.

That's all.

Should I take the Gateway Voyage Online before taking the Gateway Voyage at the Monroe Institute?

Hi,

I've made a reservation for fall 2027 to participate in the Gateway Voyage at the Monroe Institute in Virginia. In the meantime, I’d like to prepare as best I can for this experience.

Since English isn’t my first language and my spoken English is only average, I saw that they also offer the Gateway Voyage Online, and I’m considering taking it before I go to the Institute. That said, I’m also worried that it might be redundant…

What do you recommend? Has anyone here participated in both (the online program and the in-person program)?

Thanks

Can health problems and chronic pathologies hinder astral projection?

Hi,

I’ve suffered from chronic health issues since childhood, which significantly affect my overall energy levels and have consequences for various parts of my body (muscular, sensory, digestive, etc.).

Since I’ve never been able to astral project, even though I’ve been interested in the subject for years, I was wondering if having health issues might be a factor?

Do any of you also have health issues and have still managed to astral project? Do you have any advice to offer (other than getting rest and not getting too tired, which in my case is impossible...)?

Thanks

Is the on-site Gateway Voyage program at the Monroe Institute worth the price?

Hi,

I am European and passionate about everything related to the subtle and altered states of consciousness. I have never had an out-of-body experience, but I practice hypnosis and meditation, as well as sound therapy using therapeutic tuning forks.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon Robert Monroe’s work. I’ve read books and interviews, and I’ll soon be attending a two-day workshop on the Monroe Experience in a city in my country, led by someone who completed the training at the institute.

I saw that the Monroe Institute offers week-long workshops, including the famous Gateway Voyage, and when I read the description and what they offer, I thought to myself... Wow!

I’m torn between the excitement of reserving a ticket for fall 2027 and hesitation about doing so, because:

- Is it really worth $2,500, considering that for $500, you can get the home version of the app?

- Since I’m from a European country, I also have to take in consideration the transport and airplane about $1,500, plus one or two nights at a hotel...

- My English is decent but not great (maybe B1 for oral expression and comprehension and B2/C1 for written)... I'm worried if I don't understand everything and that the level of spoken English will be too high, I assume most of the people there are American?

- And it will be my first solo trip in a country... And I've never been in the US.

Thanks for your answers!

What works best for you? Sliding projection, or projection through effort (lifting or pulling upward) to leave your body?

Hello,

I've tried several astral projection techniques for months, even years, without success… I practice meditation and hypnosis, which allows me to easily use visualization.

For a long time, I only tried to project myself by forcing myself (lifting or pulling myself upwards) to leave my body. But I remember one night when my dream made me slide, and I found myself in my bed with vibrations and ringing in my ears (without having done any astral projection).

I also remember these sensations of sliding when I was a child, in my bed, just before falling asleep…

I wonder if, in fact, it would be better to try to do astral projection by sliding rather than by forcing myself, for example, by lifting or pulling myself upwards… What, in your opinion, is the best technique for astral projection?

Are INFJs often skeptical and suspicious about everything related to general beliefs, fashion effects, information, governments and lobbies, etc?

Without entering into conspiracy (although today, all thoughts that do not fit into what we want to believe are considered conspiracy...) have you noticed that like INTJs and INTPs, INFJs are among the few feelers to be skeptical and suspicious of mass effects, whether beliefs, values or information that circulates in general?

It is not a question of contradicting everything that is said and seeing the opposite as truth just out of a spirit of contradiction, but simply as an inner feeling of "it's weird..." or "there is more to this than meets the eye".

As an INFJ, it happens to me all the time... As soon as they want me to believe something, whether it's a statement, information or a hypothesis, there is always this feeling inside (Ni) that arrives in "uh... it's weird" mode, then Ti that takes over and tries to look for inconsistencies. And because I don't want to pass for a fool (Fe), I keep quiet, I listen, I do my own research, but I never get into a debate about what is true or not. On the other hand, I feel like I can't trust anything or anyone.

How is it for you?

Do you sometimes get mistaken for an INTx simply because you appear more analytical than emotional at first sight?

Hi,

I don't know for some of you, but I often have the impression that people who don't know me perceive me as a thinker rather than a feeler...

Perhaps I use more Ni-Ti generally but at first glance I rarely use Fe. As an INFJ, I’m quite avoidant, quiet, observant and enigmatic. I prefer answering questions with questions. During discussions I always ask questions to understand what people mean and whether they’re genuinely comfortable with their responses. This habit of questioning everything and everyone without particularly offering answers has led many to initially misidentify me as an INTx before an INFJ.

I notice that I use a lot Fe, but it's always more subtle and discerning. I love using my Fe with Ni to understand people and read between the lines, to tell THE question that give THE answer coming from the people. I love finding a metaphor or analogy that resonates the most for the person I’m speaking to.

In fact, I find my Fe is more using in an intellectual approach to help people think for themselves and find their own answers. It's not like using Fe for please people or just integrate myself in a group, it's using Fe more to help people to understand themselves or change the perception they have around them.

As INFJ yourself, do you have the same impression about how do you use your Fe ? Is it something common for an INFJ ?

First time in the US next year and very anxious. Can you give me some advices please?

Hi,

I’m from Europe and I’m planning a week-long activity in Virginia as part of a trip to the US. It’s my first solo trip and my first time in the US. Reading about other travellers experiences is making me feel more stressed.

The first reason of my stress is the transport. I've already taken the plane for a long distance, but never alone and I've read lots of bad experiences of people who arrived in the US and have some problems and difficulties when it comes to go through customs. I've already had a very bad experience in Paris with them just because I wasn't fast and I'm very anxious when I have to exchange with people who are cold and pushy. It seems that is a speciality about the US when you leave the plane and give them your papers...

Another reason is that all the possibilities I have about the halt between the time when I will arrive in Chicago and the time when I will take another plane to Virginia is only 2 hours... Do you think is it enough or not ? Because I've read there is often a very long time to wait when you come from an international flight because of all customs and the fact that you need to take your suitcase and re-checking them.

And my last concern is about insecurity... Maybe there is a lot of propaganda about how the US is safe or not, maybe people are very kind and helpful, I don't know, but I'm very anxious about that too. I come from a country in Europe who is in the top 5 of "the most respectful and security countries in the world". I like when everything is organised, peace and calm, not chaotic.

Thanks for your advice and sorry about my English. It’s another issue I hadn’t mentioned but it’s the least stressful.

Are INFJs interested in everything that revolves around what is hidden, possible conspiracy theories, etc?

Hi,

In general, we tend to associate this field to xNTx and potentially xNFP. But as an INFJ myself, I'm completely obsessed with what is hidden, conspiracy theories, all society problems and why / how is it possible that people in general seem to be completely blind on big subjects and facts that are completely obvious for me and are all about manipulation and not consistent...

The question isn't if I believe or not to some conspiracy theories, there are lots of them I don't believe in, and I prefer facts than beliefs, but the question is more about why I'm so obsessed about all those things in society that are not clear, consistent, and probably all about lying and society manipulation.

I think xNTx are probably more inclined to know what is real or not, but as an INFJ with Ni-Fe-Ti, the question is more about the impact on society in people.

How do you deal with all of that, as an INFJ?

How do you deal with your Se inferior and maybe other functions as an INFJ about travelling ?

Hi there,

As an INFJ myself, I've always had lots of difficulties to enjoy travelling. It's not that I'm not curious or I would not like to travel, but I think that travelling is too hard for my Se inferior and probably for other functions I have too...

Why I think Se inferior is probably the most problematic ? Because I'm over sensitive to my environment (sounds, smells, crowded places, etc.) and everything pushes my comfort zone (that has very low tolerance...) create a big anxiety that is very uncomfortable and I can't enjoy anything. And sometimes, I feel ashamed because what I mean about comfort is just superficial things like having the possibility to take a shower at any time, toilet with an access to wash my hand, having a wash machine for my clothes, etc. And for example, I admire people who are travelling without being worried about this kind of details like "ok, it's not a problem if I can't take a shower today or wear the same clothes for three days".

Another thing I have with the difficulty to travel is to travel just to consume landscapes or do tourism. I don't know if it's the combination of Ni-Fe-Ti and I absolutely respect people who like travelling just for that (in fact I would love to be like you), but I find that very useless, tiring and expensive just for an immediate consumption like everything else in our today society... If I need to travel, and I can do it on a whim, it's an obligation for me that this travel bring me something deep and important for the reste of my life (for exemple a retreat or to participate to an international convention, etc.).

For you who also are INFJ, do you have these issues too when it comes to travel ?

Is it possible that I can't astral project because all of this?

Hi,

I’ve been meditating for several years now and have been interested in astral projection, but I’ve never managed to do one. Well, actually, I almost did once (an intense vibrational state, a powerful ringing in my ears in the middle of the night), but fear kept me from leaving my body, and it hasn’t happened again since, even though I’d really like it to.

I wonder if the difficulties I’m facing might stem from my overall quality of life… Here are some things I’ve been thinking about that I believe could be the reason I still can’t seem to induce an astral projection:

- For several years now, I’ve been working rotating shifts: day, night, weekends, etc. It’s constantly changing. As a result, I’m accumulating both physical and mental fatigue… Unfortunately, I’ve never found an opportunity to have a job with regular hours.

- In addition to these complicated work schedules, I’ve always had very poor sleep since I was a child. My sleep is always very fragmented, I wake up at least 4 or 5 times a night…

- I have chronic neuromuscular health issues with severe back pain in the middle of the night and upon waking. I’m still going through the medical maze after several years of seeing various specialists...

- Although I meditate and can quickly disconnect from my mind, when I’m not meditating, my mind is very restless, I'm always on high alert. I've been hypersensitive since I was a child, to noises, smells, lights, and so on. Everything feels like an assault.

Do you think the things listed here might be the reason I can't astral project? Or do some of you also have these things in your lives and still manage to astral project?

Thanks for your help.

Unpopular opinion: INFJs are actually way LESS community-oriented than INFPs, despite having Fe. Thoughts?

Hi,

I’ve been thinking about this MBTI cliché where Extraverted Feeling (Fe) automatically means you love being part of groups, clubs, or structured communities, while Introverted Feeling (Fi) means you’re a total lone wolf.

Honestly, comparing INFJs and INFPs, I feel like it’s often the complete opposite, and Fe gets totally misunderstood here. Hear me out:

Why INFJs (Ni-Fe-Ti) actually dodge communities:

  • Fe is an antenna, not a club pass: For an INFJ, Fe is mostly used to read individuals 1-on-1. In a big group or an online community, Fe just absorbs everyone’s emotional noise like a sponge, which is insanely exhausting.
  • That sneaky Ti skepticism: INFJs have tertiary Ti, which makes them super wary of groupthink, "cult-ish" vibes, or paid/structured communities (like online schools or subscription platforms). They’d much rather dig into deep, esoteric subjects alone in their room with a good book.

Why INFPs (Fi-Ne) are actually more open to joining niche groups:

  • Ne loves to explore: INFPs are driven by curiosity and "what ifs". If a cool, niche community or platform pops up around a topic they’re passionate about, Ne wants to jump in and check it out.
  • Fi protection: Since INFPs don't absorb group energy the way Fe-users do, they can actually hang out in a community, take whatever inspires them, and completely ignore the social pressure. It feels like a safe haven for their imagination.

So basically: INFJs love people, but kinda hate groups. INFPs are individualists, but love finding safe, niche spaces to explore their passions.

Does this match your experience as an INFJ/INFP, or do you think Fe still drives INFJs into communities more than I'm giving it credit for?

I am confused about rules Regarding the title of a Google My Business listing. Can I include my job title in addition to my first and last name?

Hi,

I've read in various places that Google's guidelines state that you're not allowed to include keywords other than the business name or your first and last name in your Google My Business title.

However, I've noticed that most, if not all, businesses in my area still list their first and last name followed by their profession.

To stay in compliance and avoid having my listing suspended right after I created it a month ago, I decided to include only my first and last name, but here’s the thing: I’m ranked very low among all Google My Business listings, even though my profile is complete (with multiple categories, descriptions, services, etc.) much more so than others. There is, of course, a category for my profession listed under my first and last name, but it’s much less clear than for those who include their profession in their listing title, so at a quick glance, it’s not obvious what I do...

My question: is it ultimately better to add my profession to the title of my GMB listing, or should I just leave my first and last name?

Thank you for your help.

Everything is already perfect in my head, so I never do anything in reality to avoid getting frustrated... Do you have the same problem?

Hi,

So here’s the thing: I’ve noticed that I’ve always had this major problem that just keeps getting worse as the years go by.

I’ve always had a hard time staying grounded in the physical world. I’m hypersensitive, and everything feels like an assault to me, there are just too many physical, mental, and social constraints, and so on.

As a result of all this, I spend my time in my head imagining, visualizing, conceptualizing, and so on. I’ve reached a point where, whenever I want to get started on something, I tell myself, “What’s the point? It’s already clear and perfect when I imagine it in my head, putting it into practice in the real world will only bring constraints, frustrations, and so on.”

For example, I played the piano for 14 years and stopped a few years ago. Now I’d like to take it up again because I miss it, but I can’t help thinking back on all that time spent practicing, on being frustrated when the results didn’t live up to my expectations, on the stress it caused, etc. And in the end, I tell myself that all I have to do is put on headphones, listen to someone play the piano, and imagine myself mentally playing, it’s perfect that way, and I really feel like it’s me playing, without all the physical constraints.

This applies to everything in my life, so much so that the more time passes, the more I detach myself from everything material, to the point where I don’t do anything physical or tangible…

Is this a known INFJ issue, and how can I keep from getting carried away?

Thanks for your answers.
