An old friends wife passed, need advice.

Hey everyone,

It’s unfortunate that I need to make this post, but I’m looking for ideas on how I can support an old friend whose wife suddenly passed away.

We were close friends for quite a while, but we drifted apart a couple of years ago. Recently, out of the blue, I received a message from him letting me know what had happened. Since then, we’ve been messaging back and forth. I’m trying not to be too pushy, but I want him to know I’m here for him.

Randomly, He sent me his address and said I’m welcome to come by anytime. As a guy myself, I know that’s probably his way of saying he’s really needing support right now.

I also know that when life gets busy, a lot of us drift away from friends and support networks, so I understand that he may be trying to reconnect and rebuild that sense of friendship and support around him.

I’m honestly a bit stuck on what to do or say. I don’t want to bring too much energy, because that’s naturally my personality, and I definitely don’t want to say the wrong thing.

Do I take groceries? Pizza and beers? Just sit there and listen?

Any ideas or advice would really help.

Cheers,

Seeking a Co-Founder (Marketing/Growth) – Startup in the insurance industry

Hey everyone,

I’m currently building an Australian-based startup in the insurance space and am looking for the right Australia-based marketing/growth-focused co-founder to help scale the business and take on the growth side whilst I continue focusing heavily on product development and expansion.

The platform is already live, operational, and starting to gain genuine traction organically through word of mouth. What initially started as a B2C-focused business is now evolving into something significantly larger, with a major B2B opportunity i’ve identified through firsthand industry experience and existing industry connections.

There is a gap and I am already seeing validation from both consumers and people within the industry.

About me:
- 5+ years experience within the insurance industry
- deep understanding of claims, operations and industry pain points
- strong product and operational focus
- currently self-funding and actively building the business

What I’m looking for:
- Australia-based co-founder only
- strong marketing/growth background
- experience with startups, SaaS, paid ads, SEO, partnerships, growth strategy or scaling brands
- someone ambitious who genuinely wants to build something long-term

I’m not necessarily looking for someone with insurance experience - I’m looking for someone who understands growth, execution and how to build momentum around an early-stage business with real potential.

The foundations are already there:
- live platform
- active users
- backend infrastructure
- roadmap toward B2B tools/products
- clear market opportunity

Still early stage, but that’s also what makes this exciting.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested getting in on and a team player, feel free to DM me - also open to other proposals if you feel this is the opportunity for you.

Developer disappeared and I need advice.

Hey everyone,

After years of using Fiverr and spending thousands upon thousands, I’ve run into my first major issue.

I hired a full stack developer to build a website for me ($3,000+ project). The order was completed, however part of the agreement included an additional paid 6 months of ongoing support.

Recently there were a few minor bugs/fixes needed, and we were also in the middle of migrating full ownership of the infrastructure over to me. Thankfully I received the source code a few days ago, and two days ago the developer sent me instructions on setting up MongoDB so the database could be migrated to my own account.

Yesterday I went into our chat to organise a meeting and suddenly I could no longer contact the seller. I created an alternate Fiverr account and can no longer find their profile or gigs either. I’ve also emailed them directly but haven’t received a response.

I contacted Fiverr explaining the situation and they advised they would attempt to contact the freelancer regarding the remaining support work and database migration. Fiverr also offered compensation of approximately $1,000.

I’m not very technical, so I guess I’m looking for both advice and reassurance from people more experienced than me.

At this stage I have:
- the full source code
- AWS access
- domain access
- email access

The remaining issues appear to be:
- migrating MongoDB ownership
- fixing a couple of bugs

If the original developer never responds, is this realistically something another developer could step into and finish without needing to rebuild the entire platform from scratch?

Appreciate any advice, a little stressed at the moment about the situation.

Bad stuff A?

I have a professional coming next week to do an inspection so we can understand wether there is any naughty stuff A

Out of curiosity, by the look of it can you tell?

Additionally, how have people gone with dealing with it? Is it okay to leave it and paint over ?
